Methods and results: The Asia Pacific TAVI registry is an international, multicentre, prospective, observational registry managed under the auspices of the Asian Pacific Society of Interventional Cardiology (APSIC). Patients undergoing TAVI in seven centres from Hong Kong, Japan, Philippines, Singapore and Taiwan, treated with TAVI devices for severe symptomatic aortic stenosis, were assessed. This first review presents the acute results and 30-day mortality. A multivariable analysis was also performed to identify independent predictors of early all-cause mortality. The enrolment was from 2009 to 2017 and a total of 1,125 patients were recruited. The 30-day mortality rate was 2.5%. Baseline logistic EuroSCORE more than 16 was independently associated with a 2.8-times increased risk of 30-day all-cause mortality (p=0.016). Post-procedural stroke (HR 4.9, p=0.008) was also associated with increased mortality.
Conclusions: This initial report of the Asia Pacific TAVI registry demonstrated good acute success and low 30-day mortality. The preprocedural logistic EuroSCORE and post-procedural stroke incidence were strongly associated with acute mortality. Further attempts to reduce post-procedural stroke should be explored.
METHODS: A total of 1487 patients with MDD from 13 mental health institutions in China were enrolled. Mini International Neuropsychiatric Interview (MINI) was used to identify patients with BD who are misdiagnosed as MDD. The general sociodemographic and clinical data of the patients were collected and MINI suicide module was used to identify patients with SAs in these misdiagnosed patients.
RESULTS: In China, 20.6% of patients with BD were incorrectly diagnosed as having MDD. Among these misdiagnosed patients, 26.5% had attempted suicide. These patients tended to be older, had a higher number of hospitalizations, and were more likely to experience frequent and seasonal depressive episodes with atypical features, psychotic symptoms, and suicidal thoughts. Frequent depressive episodes and suicidal thoughts during depression were identified as independent risk factors for SAs. Additionally, significant sociodemographic and clinical differences were found between individuals misdiagnosed with MDD in BD and patients with MDD who have attempted suicide.
CONCLUSIONS: This study highlights the importance of accurate diagnosis in individuals with BD and provide valuable insights for the targeted identification and intervention of individuals with BD misdiagnosed as having MDD and those with genuine MDD, particularly in relation to suicidal behavior.
PURPOSE: The purpose of this review is to elucidate the influence of the SEM on students' attitudes toward physical education learning.
METHODS: Employing the preferred reporting items of the Systematic Review and Meta-analysis (PRISMA) statement guidelines, a systematic search of PubMed, SCOPUS, EBSCOhost (SPORTDiscus and CINAHL Plus), and Web of Science databases was conducted in mid-January 2023. A set of keywords associated with the SEM, attitudes toward physical education learning, and students were employed to identify relevant studies. Out of 477 studies, only 13 articles fulfilled all the eligibility criteria and were consequently incorporated into this systematic review. The validated checklist of Downs and Black (1998) was employed for the assessment, and the included studies achieved quality scores ranging from 11 to 13. The ROBINS-I tool was utilized to evaluate the risk of bias in the literature, whereby only one paper exhibited a moderate risk of bias, while the remainder were deemed to have a high risk.
RESULTS: The findings unveiled significant disparities in cognitive aspects (n = 8) and affective components (n = 12) between the SEM intervention and the Traditional Teaching (TT) comparison. Existing evidence suggests that the majority of scholars concur that the SEM yields significantly superior effects in terms of students' affective and cognitive aspects compared to the TT.
CONCLUSIONS: Nonetheless, several issues persist, including a lack of data regarding junior high school students and gender differences, insufficient frequency of weekly interventions, inadequate control of inter-group atmosphere disparities resulting from the same teaching setting, lack of reasonable testing, model fidelity check and consideration for regulating variables, of course, learning content, and unsuitable tools for measuring learning attitudes. In contrast, the SEM proves more effective than the TT in enhancing students' attitudes toward physical learning.
