The data is obtained from exploring the modulatory activities of bioflavonoids on P-glycoprotein function by ligand-based approaches. Multivariate Linear-QSAR models for predicting the induced/inhibitory activities of the flavonoids were created. Molecular descriptors were initially used as independent variables and a dependent variable was expressed as pFAR. The variables were then used in MLR analysis by stepwise regression calculation to build the linear QSAR data. The entire dataset consisted of 23 bioflavonoids was used as a training set. Regarding the obtained MLR QSAR model, R of 0.963, R (2)=0.927, [Formula: see text], SEE=0.197, F=33.849 and q (2)=0.927 were achieved. The true predictabilities of QSAR model were justified by evaluation with the external dataset (Table 4). The pFARs of representative flavonoids were predicted by MLR QSAR modelling. The data showed that internal and external validations may generate the same conclusion.

Fire debris is often recovered as part of a fire scene investigation to determine whether an ignitable liquid might be present which may be evidence of a deliberate fire. The analysis of fire debris produces chromatograms that a forensic chemist uses to determine whether or not an ignitable liquid may be present. Currently there are very few publicly available data sets that can be used for training and statistical modelling in this area. The data set in this paper has been prepared with these two applications in mind and covers a wide range of ignitable liquids available in the UK. We created a data set of 35 ignitable liquids including petrol (gasoline), light, medium and heavy petroleum distillates (i.e diesel) from several retailers. Each ignitable liquid was systematically evaporated to produce six additional samples. Each sample was repetitively analysed to provide an overall data set of 751 analytical outputs (including chromatograms). Each data sample is expressed in multiple formats and the metadata containing any data used in the production of the samples is included. The folder and file names are designed to avoid misplacements and to manipulate folders and files systematically using computer code.

5-Fluorouracil (5-FU) has been the primary drug used in chemotherapy for colorectal carcinoma, and localizing the drug would be effective in avoiding its side effects and improving therapeutic outcomes. One approach to achieve this is by encapsulating the drug in microbeads. Alginate microbeads, in particular, exhibit promising pH-sensitive properties, making them an attractive option for colon targeting. Thus, the main aim of this study is to formulate and characterize 5-FU-encapsulated alginate microbeads as a pH-sensitive drug delivery system for controlled release in the gastrointestinal tract. In this study, the alginate microbeads encapsulating 5-FU was manufactured using electrospray methods. This method offers the advantages of promoting the formulation of uniformly small-sized microbeads with improved performance in terms of swelling and diffusion rates. The size and shape of the 5-FU microbeads are 394.23 ± 3.077 µm and have a spherical factor of 0.026 ± 0.022, respectively, which are considered acceptable and indicative of a spherical shape. The microbeads' encapsulation efficiency was found to be 69.65 ± 0.18%, which is considered high in comparison to other literature. The attenuated total reflectance - Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (ATR-FTIR) data confirmed the complexation of sodium alginate with calcium ions, along with the encapsulation of 5-FU in the microbeads matrix. The 5-FU microbeads displayed pH-dependent swelling, exhibiting less swelling in simulated gastric fluid (SGF) than in simulated intestinal fluid (SIF). Additionally, the release of 5-FU from the microbeads is pH-dependent, with the cumulative percentage drug release being higher in simulated intestinal fluid than in SGF. The data indicate that the 5-FU microbeads can be utilized for the delivery of 5-FU in colon-targeted therapy, potentially leading to improved tumor treatment.

The dataset contains tree height data collected in 200 mangrove and non-mangrove trees sampled in various sites in Malaysia. Different height measurement methods were performed, including visual measurements (stick, thumb rule) and precision field instruments (clinometer, laser rangefinder and altimeter), which were compared against benchmark values obtained using an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) and a Leica distometer. The core data have been analysed and interpreted in the paper by Saliu et al. ''An accuracy analysis of mangrove tree height mensuration using forestry techniques, hypsometers and UAVs '' [1], in which the accuracy of each method for tree height measurement was discussed.

Microalgae play an important function in aquatic environments by serving as the energy foundation of the food chain for all aquatic species. Microalgae produce a wide range of bioproducts, including polysaccharides, lipids, pigments, proteins, vitamins, bioactive chemicals, and antioxidants. In this study, a dataset of identification of three microalgae isolated from freshwater riverine areas at Glami Lemi River, Malaysia is presented. The identification data was acquired using molecular identification using the PCR method and morphological observation. The morphological observation of the microalgae isolates, GL01, GL02, and GL03, showed the closest features and characteristics with Chlorella sp., Ankinstrodesmus sp., and Tetradesmus (Scenedesmus) sp., respectively. The sequence similarity analysis of partial 18s rDNA gene using BLASTn identified the three microalgae species as Chlorella sorokiniana for isolate GL01, Ankistrodesmus fusiformis for isolate GL02, and Tetradesmus obliquus for isolate GL03. Both morphological observation and molecular identification were in agreement in the determination of the species. This is the first report on the three microalgae species isolated from this area.

The excessive growth of aquatic macrophytes in a water system has a negative effect on the lake ecosystem. This article presents data on water parameters and sedimentation rates from sites that include different aquatic macrophytes at Tasik Berombak, a freshwater lake on Peninsular Malaysia's eastern coast. Areas with Hanguana malayana and Pandanus helicopus were selected for sampling, while an area without aquatic macrophytes served as the control. At the lake's surface and bottom, temperature, conductivity, total dissolved solids, dissolved oxygen (D.O.), and pH were measured in situ. The surface water was sampled for chemical analysis in the laboratory (chlorophyll-a, total suspended solids, total carbon, total organic carbon, inorganic carbon, total dissolved nitrogen, total dissolved phosphorus). Settling sediment was collected using cylinder traps deployed under the macrophytes at the bottom of the lake. The presented data includes the water parameters according to plant-base area, depth differentiation (top versus bottom), and variable correlation analysis. Understanding the impact of excessive aquatic plants on the lake ecosystem in a tropical environment requires information on water parameters and sedimentation rates from the aquatic plants. Therefore, these data can be used to monitor the impact of land use change on the aquatic plant community and, ultimately, the lake ecosystem.

In this article we present a standardized dataset on 6659 songbirds (Passeriformes) highlighting information relevant to species conservation prioritization with a main focus to support the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). Data were collected from both scientific and grey literature as well as several online databases. The data are structured into six knowledge categories: Conventions and Treaties, Human Use, Extinction Risk, Management Opportunities, Biological Information, and Intrinsic Values. The Conventions and Treaties category includes the listings for two international conventions, CITES and the Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS), as well as EU listings for the EU Wildlife Trade Regulations and the EU Birds Directive. The Human Use category contains information on both regulated trade collected from the CITES Trade Database and the United States' Law Enforcement Management Information System (LEMIS), and highly aggregated data on seizures which we obtained from TRAFFIC, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and two data sources on traditional medicine. We also present, for the first time, the complete Songbirds in Trade Database (SiTDB), a trade database curated by taxon expert S. Bruslund based on expert knowledge, literature review, market surveys and sale announcements. Data on the types of human use, including traditional medicine are also provided. The knowledge area on Extinction Risk contains data on the species' IUCN Red List status, the Alliance for Zero Extinction Trigger Species status, site and population at the site, the species' IUCN Climate Change Vulnerability Assessment, and the listing of priority species at the Asian Songbird Crisis Summit. In the Management Opportunities category, we gathered data on ex-situ management from Species360 zoo holdings as well as species management plans from the European and North American Zoo Associations (EAZA and AZA, respectively). Biological Information includes data on body mass, clutch size, diet, availability of data from the IUCN Red List on habitat systems, extent of occurrence, generation length, migration pattern, distribution, and biological data from the Demographic Species Knowledge Index, number of occurrences recorded by the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF) as well as genomic data from the Bird 10 000K Genomes (B10K) project, Vertebrate Genome Project (VGP) and GenBank. Information on invasive species is also part of this knowledge area. The Intrinsic Value category refers to two measures of the species' intrinsic value, namely Ecological and Evolutionary Distinctiveness. In order to make these knowledge areas comparable, we standardized data following the taxonomy of the Handbook of the Birds of the World and Birdlife (Version 4, 2019). The data enable a broad spectrum of analyses and will be useful to scientists for further research and to policymakers, zoos and other conservation stakeholders for future prioritization decisions.

MicroRNAs (miRNAs) are short non-coding single-stranded RNAs with approximately 22 nucleotides in length that negatively regulate the mRNA translation of a target gene. MiR-2b-1 belongs to the largest miR-2 family in Drosophila melanogaster with 8 members and this miRNA family is conserved in invertebrates. miRNAs play key roles in gene regulation, cell proliferation, cell death, cell differentiation and cell developmental homeostasis in multicellular organisms. Its role in various human diseases is continuously being studied. miRNAs also found out to be crucial in maintaining stem cell niche in D. melanogaster gonads. We have identified that ectopic overexpression of miR-2b-1 of D. melanogaster causes testicular bulging (a tumour like phenotype) in 3-5 days old adult flies. Hence, we have performed a transcriptomic (RNA-seq) analysis to understand the role of miR-2b-1 in the development, maintenance, and differentiation of D. melanogaster adult testis stem cells. Data are available from GEO (accession number GSE211399).

The rapid development of open source developmental boards incorporating microcontrollers on printed circuit boards has offered many alternatives in creating feasible, low cost indoor environment monitoring and controlling platforms. Data are collected and stored in predetermined locations throughout a series of communication activities between a network of active sensors and their processing units. However, the issue of data precision and accuracy are of real concern for generating baseline information. Therefore, with that in mind, the purpose of this paper is to accentuate an insightful trend of retrieving indoor environment data (temperature and relative humidity) for an office building in a hot and humid climate condition. The indoor parameters were monitored using a combination of a single board microcontroller with an active sensor with well calibrated thermal microclimate devices. Accordingly, it was found that proactive adjustment can be conducted in order to minimize waste.

A HPLC method has been validated for identifying five markers (gallic acid, rosmarinic acid, catechin, andrographolide and curcumin) and quantifying curcumin in SynacinnTM formulation. The validation (bracketed strengths of 10 mg/mL and 100 mg/mL) involved assessment of selectivity, precision, Limit of Detection (LOD), Limit of Quantification (LOQ), linearity, accuracy, stability in diluent and formulation stability. Meanwhile, in vivo bone marrow micronucleus test data was presented to evaluate the toxicity potential of Synacinn™ to cause clastogenicity and/or disruption of the mitotic apparatus, as measured by its ability to induce micronucleated polychromatic erythrocytes (MN PCE) in Sprague Dawley rat bone marrow. The test was conducted in two phases viz., Phase I (Dose Range Finding experiment) and Phase II (Definitive experiment). Phase I was conducted to assess general toxicity and bone marrow cytotoxicity of Synacinn™, and to select the doses for the definitive experiment. In-life observations included mortality, clinical signs of toxicity and body weight. Bone marrow samples were collected and extracted from the femur bone using fetal bovine serum. The pellet obtained after the centrifugation was used for preparing bone marrow smears to evaluate the number of immature and mature erythrocytes.

We present here a data set generated from a multinational survey on opinions of university community members on the prospect of consuming food grown with human urine as fertiliser and about their urine recycling perceptions in general. The data set comprises answers from 3,763 university community members (students, faculty/researchers, and staff) from 20 universities in 16 countries and includes demographic variables (age bracket, gender, type of settlement of origin, academic discipline, and role in the university). Questions were designed based on Ajzen's theory of planned behaviour to elicit information about three components of behavioural intention-attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioural control. Survey questions covered perceived risks and benefits (attitudes), perceptions of colleagues (injunctive social norm) and willingness to consume food grown with cow urine/faeces (descriptive social norm), and willingness to pay a price premium for food grown with human urine as fertiliser (perceived behavioural control). We also included a question about acceptable urine recycling and disposal options and assessed general environmental outlook via the 15-item revised New Ecological Paradigm (NEP) scale. Data were collected through a standardised survey instrument translated into the relevant languages and then administered via an online form. Invitations to the survey were sent by email to university mailing lists or to a systematic sample of the university directory. Only a few studies on attitudes towards using human urine as fertiliser have been conducted previously. The data described here, which we analysed in "Willingness among food consumers at universities to recycle human urine as crop fertiliser: Evidence from a multinational survey" [1], may be used to further understand potential barriers to acceptance of new sanitation systems based on wastewater source separation and urine recycling and can help inform the design of future sociological studies.

Green honey, was discovered on Banggi Island, Sabah, showing high in essential amino acids and chlorophyll derivatives. Despite its lucrative market potential owing to its distinctive color, uncertainties persist regarding its nature. This study leverages amplicon sequencing by targeting micro- and macro-organisms present in honey environmental DNA (eDNA) using Internal Transcribed Spacer 2 (ITS2) region, enabling the identification of floral and microorganism sources that represent the honey's composition. The investigation into green honey from Banggi Island concerns the prevalence of honey adulteration and authenticity for economic gain. Adulteration methods, such as the addition of sugar syrups, compromise honey purity. Using a sequencing approach would help in determining the geographic origin and verifying the authenticity of the honey. The study aims to identify plant species or microorganisms in honey's eDNA. To authenticate honey, we utilized ITS2 with Illumina sequencing, exploring the diversity of green honey samples. Raw sequence reads obtained for the green honey sample revealed 1,438,627 raw reads, with a GC average of 49.22 %. A total of 44 amplicon sequence variances (ASVs) were identified, including three genera: Zygosaccharomyces with two species, Fraxinus with three species, and the genus Ficaria with only one species. Their respective relative abundances were 98.55%, 0.94%, and 0.51%. Zygosaccharomyces rouxii and Zygosaccharomyces mellis were identified as the pre-dominant yeast species in honey, while the Fraxinus and Ficaria genus represent common plant species in Sabah, particularly in Banggi Island. The dominance of Zygosaccharomyces species aligns with their known prevalence in honey, affirming the reliability of our findings. The presence of Fraxinus and Ficaria in the honey sample correlates with its abundance in the local environment. This amplicon sequencing approach not only contributes to our understanding of green honey composition but also serves as a valuable resource for authenticating honey origin in Malaysia, particularly for green honey from Banggi Island, Sabah. Our study pioneers the application of ITS2 amplicon sequencing for green honey amplicon sequencing, providing valuable insights into its composition and origin. This methodology, with a focus on eDNA, contributes to the authentication and quality determination of honey in Malaysia, addressing the pressing concerns of adulteration and variability in production practices.

This article investigated how crabs responded to different culture temperatures especially dislocation before molting using a combination of large recording files and computer software. In this novel approach of video recording portunid crab behavioral data, crab culture was recorded at five different acclimation temperatures of 20, 24, 28, 32 and 36 °C. Crabs were reared until the instar stage before being acclimatized for video recording. Large video files (MPEG-TS) were then analyzed using the latest version of Solomon Coder software developed by A. Peter and programmed with Embarcadero® Delphi® XE [1]. Recorded data was analyzed by calculating and marking movements of crabs using the time sequence tool. Additionally, a total movement was counted 30 min before crabs molted from instar stage 8 to instar stage 9. Part of the data is associated with the research article "Thermal tolerance and locomotor activity of blue swimmer crab Portunus pelagicus instar reared at different temperatures" (Azra et al., 2018) [2] and provided here as raw data of Supplementary materials.
