    The walking of a humanoid robot needs to be robust enough in order to maintain balance in a dynamic environment especially on uneven terrain. A walking model based on multi-sensor is proposed for a Robotis DARwIn-OP robot named as Leman. Two force sensitive resistor (FSRs) on both feet equipped to Leman to estimate the zero moment point (ZMP) alongside with accelerometer and gyrosensor embedded in the body for body state estimation. The results show that the FSRs can successfully detect the unbalanced walking event if the protuberance exists on the floor surface and the accelerometer and gyrosensor (Inertial Measurement Unit, IMU) data are recorded to tune the balancing parameter in the model.

    Shunt active power filter (SAPF) is the most effective solution for current harmonics. In its controller, DC-link capacitor voltage regulation algorithm with either proportional-integral (PI) or fuzzy logic control (FLC) technique has played a significant role in maintaining a constant DC voltage across all the DC-link capacitors. However, PI technique performs poorly with high overshoot and significant time delay under dynamic state conditions, as its parameters are difficult to be tuned without requiring complete knowledge of the designated system. Although FLC technique has been developed to overcome limitations of PI technique, it is mostly developed with high complexity thereby increases computational burden of the designed controller. This paper presents a fuzzy-based DC-link capacitor voltage regulation algorithm with reduced computational efforts to enhance performance of three-phase three-level neutralpoint diode clamped (NPC) inverter-based SAPF in overall DC-link voltage regulation. The proposed method is called effort-reduction FLC technique. The proposed algorithm is developed and evaluated in MATLAB-Simulink. Moreover, conventional algorithm with PI technique is tested for comparison purposes. Simulation results have confirmed improvement achieved by the proposed algorithm in comparison to the conventional algorithm.

    Indoor air quality has been a major public concern recently. Several health effects are related to this problem.
    Findings from several studies have shown MVAC system as the main contributor for IAQ problem. Good practice of
    maintenance and servicing is important to maintain MVAC system, especially the filter. Good air filtration for MVAC
    system is needed to make sure adequate air is received by the occupants. This paper illustrated a recent study of air
    filtration for MVAC system especially for several industries that used MVAC system in their premises. This paper also
    proposed an air filtration study for a better air quality. Several Acts and Regulations related to Safety and Health were
    identified to create the framework for the proposed study. Air filtration technique was used in this preliminary study
    to set up guidelines to create safe and clean indoor spaces for workers and occupants.

    Low-cost high rise housing project is developed to provide a chance for low-income
    citizen to own a house at a lower market price. Each low-cost high-rise residential
    building possesses its own building management body where one of its duties is to
    manage residential area after the strata title has been issued to the purchaser. The
    study was carried out to evaluate the level of satisfaction among residents of one lowcost
    housing area towards the maintenance activities administered by the building
    management body. This research employed mixed-method approach; quantitative and
    qualitative, as it able to capture accurate data from both residents and the building
    management body. This study concluded that the residents of Rumah Selangorku
    Damai Utama are mostly leaning towards dissatisfaction with the building and facilities
    maintenance services provided by the building management body.

    The existing optimal design of the fixed sampling interval S2-EWMA control chart to monitor the sample variance of a process is based on the average run length (ARL) criterion. Since the shape of the run length distribution changes with the magnitude of the shift in the variance, the median run length (MRL) gives a more meaningful explanation about the in-control and out-of-control performances of a control chart. This paper proposes the optimal design of the S2-EWMA chart, based on the MRL. The Markov chain technique is employed to compute the MRLs. The performances of the S2-EWMA chart, double sampling (DS) S2 chart and S chart are evaluated and compared. The MRL results indicated that the S2-EWMA chart gives better performance for detecting small and moderate variance shifts, while maintaining almost the same sensitivity as the DS S2 and S charts toward large variance shifts, especially when the sample size increases.

    This article investigates the performance of two-sample pseudo-median based procedure in testing differences between groups. The procedure is a modification of the one-sample Wilcoxon procedure using the pseudo-median of differences between group values as the central measure of location. The test was conducted on two groups with moderate sample
    sizes of symmetric and asymmetric distributions. The performance of the procedure was measured in terms of Type I error and power rates computed via Monte Carlo methods. The performance of the procedure was compared against the t-test and Mann-Whitney-Wilcoxon test. The findings from this study revealed that the pseudo-median procedure performed very
    well in controlling Type I error rates close to the nominal value. The pseudo-median procedure outperformed the MannWhitney-Wilcoxon test and is comparable to the t-test in controlling Type I error and maintaining adequate power.

    This review is aimed to present an in-depth review of several methodologies on magnetic
    water treatment (MWT) that are employed as scale treatment in water pipeline and to
    critically discuss each method in order to determine the best outcome of MWT. The
    magnetically assisted water in pipeline in various applications are presented, argued and
    best variables are listed according to the performance of each MWT. The advantages and
    limitations of MWT are discussed and the main outcome from the review summarize the
    best method in MWT, especially in effectiveness of treating scale in terms of sustained
    environment benefits. Magnetic field application in water treatment has the potential to
    improve the water pipeline performance and lifetime. The application is also significant in
    controlling the growth of scale in upcoming system. Both of these benefits lead to healthier
    water treatment, increasing and maintaining the lifetime and performance of water system.

    The emergence of wireless technologies such as WirelessHART and ISA100 Wireless for deployment at industrial process plants has urged the need for research and development in wireless control. This is in view of the fact that the recent application is mainly in monitoring domain due to lack of confidence in control aspect. WirelessHART has an edge over its counterpart as it is based on the successful Wired HART protocol with over 30 million devices as of 2009. Recent works on control have primarily focused on maintaining the traditional PID control structure which is proven not adequate for the wireless environment. In contrast, Internal Model Control (IMC), a promising technique for delay compensation, disturbance rejection and setpoint tracking has not been investigated in the context of WirelessHART. Therefore, this paper discusses the control design using IMC approach with a focus on wireless processes. The simulation and experimental results using real-time WirelessHART hardware-in-the-loop simulator (WH-HILS) indicate that the proposed approach is more robust to delay variation of the network than the PID.

    This review aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of acupressure in promoting sleep quality among adults. Study findings included in the review showed that acupressure significantly improved sleep quality compared with the control group, but no superior effect of acupressure was found compared with sham acupressure.

    The biomass concentration of conventional activated sludge (CAS) process due to low sludge sedimentation in clarifiers is limited to 3000 mg/L. In this study, high-frequency ultrasound wave (1.8 MHz) was applied to enhance the CAS process performance using high Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid (MLSS) concentration. The study conducted using a pilot scale CAS bioreactor (with and without ultrasound) and their performance for treating a hospital wastewater were compared. Experimental conditions were designed based on a Central Composite Design (CCD). The sets of data analyzed, modeled and optimized using Response Surface Methodology (RSM). The effect of MLSS concentration 3000-8000 mg/L and hydraulic retention time (HRT) 2-8 h are considered as operating variables to investigate on process responses. The obtained results showed that high-frequency ultrasound was significantly decreased the sludge volume index (SVI) 50% and effluent turbidity about 88.5% at high MLSS. Also, observed that COD removal of both systems was nearly similar, as the maximum COD removal for sonicated and non-sonicated systems were 92 and 92.5% respectively. However, this study demonstrates that the ultrasound irradiation has not had any negative effect on the microbial activity.

    Emerging longitudinal research has highlighted poor sleep as a risk factor of a range of adverse health outcomes, including disabling pain conditions. In establishing the causal role of sleep in pain, it remains to be clarified whether sleep deterioration over time is a driver of pain and whether sleep improvement can mitigate pain-related outcomes. A systematic literature search was performed using PubMed MEDLINE, Ovid EMBASE, and Proquest PsycINFO, to identify 16 longitudinal studies involving 61,000 participants. The studies evaluated the effect of sleep changes (simulating sleep deterioration, sleep stability, and sleep improvement) on subsequent pain-related outcomes in the general population. A decline in sleep quality and sleep quantity was associated with a two- to three-fold increase in risk of developing a pain condition, small elevations in levels of inflammatory markers, and a decline in self-reported physical health status. An exploratory meta-analysis further revealed that deterioration in sleep was associated with worse self-reported physical functioning (medium effect size), whilst improvement in sleep was associated with better physical functioning (small effect size). The review consolidates evidence that changes in sleep are prospectively associated with pain-related outcomes and highlights the need for further longitudinal investigations on the long-term impact of sleep improvements.

    BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: People with epilepsy frequently encounter sleep disruptions that can stem from a variety of complex factors. Epilepsy-related sleep disturbance can lead to reduced quality of life and excessive daytime hypersomnolence. Identification of sleep disturbances may help in the overall management of epilepsy patients. This study was conducted to determine the prevalence and predictors of poor sleep quality and daytime sleepiness in epilepsy.

    METHODS: A cross-sectional study on 284 epilepsy patients was performed in a local tertiary centre. The demographic and clinical epilepsy data were collected. The Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI) and Epworth Sleepiness Scale (ESS) questionnaires were utilised to determine the quality of life and daytime hypersomnolence of epilepsy patients, respectively.

    RESULTS: Poor sleep quality was reported in 78 (27.5%) patients while daytime hypersomnolence was present in 17 (6%) patients. The predictors of poor sleep quality include structural causes (OR = 2.749; 95% CI: 1.436, 5.264, p = 0.002), generalised seizures (OR = 1.959, 95% CI: 1.04, 3.689, p = 0.037), and antiseizure medications such as Carbamazepine (OR = 2.34; 95% CI: 1.095, 5.001, p = 0.028) and Topiramate (OR 2.487; 95% CI: 1.028, 6.014, p = 0.043). Females are 3.797 times more likely score higher in ESS assessment (OR 3.797; 95% CI: 1.064, 13.555 p = 0.04).

    DISCUSSION: Sleep disturbances frequently coexist with epilepsy. Patients should be actively evaluated using the PSQI and ESS questionnaires. It is imperative to identify the key factors that lead to reduced sleep quality and heightened daytime sleepiness in patients with epilepsy, as this is essential to properly manage their condition.

    BACKGROUND: This study aimed to assess the determinants of burnout among healthcare providers in the primary care setting.

    METHODS: A web-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 1280 healthcare providers aged 18 years and older from 30 primary care clinics in Selangor, Malaysia. In this study, the Copenhagen Burnout Inventory was used to assess burnout. The results were analyzed using multiple logistic regression.

    RESULTS: The prevalence of personal burnout was 41.7%, followed by work-related burnout (32.2%) and client-related burnout (14.5%). The determinants for personal burnout in this study were younger age, being a doctor, higher COVID-19 exposure risk, do not know where to seek help, inability to handle stress, poorer sleep quality score, higher total COVID-19 fear score, higher total stress score, and lower total BRS score. The determinants of work-related burnout were younger age, being a doctor, longer years of working, higher COVID-19 exposure risk, do not know where to seek help, lower altruistic score, poorer sleep quality score, higher total stress score, and lower total brief resilience score (BRS) score. The determinants of client-related burnout were doctor, single/divorced, more than one attachment site, and higher satisfaction toward the infection control, inability to handle stress, higher total depression score, and lower total BRS score.

    CONCLUSION: Every fourth out of ten suffered from personal burnout, one-third from work-related burnout, and one-seventh from client-related burnout among healthcare providers during the COVID-19 pandemic. Healthcare systems must take care of healthcare workers' physical and emotional depletion, reducing the risk of burnout.

    Problem gambling and sleep difficulty threaten health. Using the basis of self-regulatory theory, potential mechanisms for these problems were investigated. Fifty-nine treatment-seeking gamblers completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (sleep difficulty), the Sleep Hygiene Index (negative sleep habits), the Problem Gambling Severity Index and measures of self-regulatory capacity and arousability with data entered into regression analyses. Results supported the relationship between problem gambling and greater sleep difficulty (β = .18, t = 3.22, p < .01). Self-regulatory capacity mediated the relationship between problem gambling and sleep difficulty (R (2) change = .15, F(2, 57) = 12.14, β = -.45, t = -3.45, p < .001) as well as between problem gambling and negative sleep habits; R (2) change = .17, F(2, 57) = 13.57, β = -.28, t = -3.76, p < .001. Arousability predicted sleep difficulty (β = .15, t = 3.07, p < .01) and negative sleep habits (β = .40, t = 5.40, p < .01) but showed no relationship with problem gambling (r = .09, ns). Self-regulatory capacity represents an important mediator of the relationship between problem gambling and sleep-related behaviour and if targeted could reduce behavioural threats to health.

    Photocatalytic fuel cell (PFC) is considered as a sustainable green technology which could degrade organic pollutant and generate electricity simultaneously. A synergistic double-sided ZnO/BaTiO3 loaded carbon plate heterojunction photoanode was fabricated in different ratios by using simple ultrasonication and mixed-annealed method. The double-sided design of photoanode allowed the lights irradiated at both sides of the photoanode. The ferroelectricity fabricated photoanode was applied in a membraneless PFC with platinum-loaded carbon as the cathode. Results revealed that the photoanode with 1:1 ratio of BaTiO3 and ZnO exhibited a superior photocatalytic activity among all the photoanodes prepared in this study. The heterojunction of this photoanode was able to achieve up to a removal efficiency of 93.67% with a maximum power density of 0.5284 μW cm-2 in 10 mg L-1 of Reactive Red 120 (RR120) without any supporting electrolyte. This photoanode was able to maintain at high performance after recycling 3 times. Overloading of ZnO above 50% on BaTiO3 could lead to deterioration of the performance of PFC due to the charge defects and light trapping ability. The interactions, interesting polarizations of the photocatalysts and proposed mechanism of the n-n type heterojunction in the photoanode of ZnO/BaTiO3 was also discussed.

    Like many other parts of the globe, in Malaysia, construction industry has a vital support to
    the national economy, even though statistics indicates that, at the same time, it is an extremely
    risky profession due to high accident rate. In addition, current evidences suggest that, in
    general, safety in Sarawak construction industries lack attention. As, human behavior is regarded
    as the principal component that contributes to accidents in this industry, this study
    intends to explore existing barriers in development and maintaining safety performance behavior
    as well as possible coping strategies. A qualitative analysis of in-depth interview (N=4)
    among different levels of professions within industries in Kuching, Sarawak reveals that,
    price sensitive subcontracting, short-term projects, irregular cash flow, dependency on larger
    companies, less managerial and supervisory engagement, and priority on progress alone create
    obstacles for safety behavior. On the other hand, possibly, the challenges can be managed
    through integration of safety into contracts as compliance, associated disbursement, and introducing
    incentives.

    This study was conducted to identify the practices of Malay chefs in preparing traditional Malay dishes at hotels in the Klang Valley. In addition, this study aimed to identify the level of knowledge and practices of these chefs with regard to traditional cooking and to analyse how the knowledge could be passed on to the younger generation of Malay chefs. In reality, these practices and traditions which include the practices in food preparation, skills and cooking techniques to maintain the authenticity and sustainability of the traditional Malay cuisine are slowly being neglected, especially among those in the hotel industry. The younger generation of Malay chefs no longer seems to take pride in the traditional way of cooking. In addition, the use of processed food in Malay kitchens is very common today. In order to achieve the aims of the study, a qualitative research was conducted. Chefs at various hotels in the Klang Valley were interviewed to determine their current practices. The findings showed that the techniques of cooking traditional Malay foods have been tainted with modern culinary techniques due to a lack of exposure and knowledge in traditional Malay cuisine. In general, traditional cooking methods are viewed as outdated, obsolete and not in accordance to modernisation. By conforming to the style of cooking with modern equipment and technology, this has indirectly altered the prevailing practices of the traditional food preparation in hotels.

    The current COVID-19 pandemic has forced many clinical disciplines to evolve to function safely and still provide the necessary care. Otorhinolaryngology (ORL) is a field that has been greatly affected by this highly transmissible viral pathogen. Aerosolizing procedures, proximity examination and other common procedures must be revamped to suit current time. The usual norm ORL procedures need also be altered to incorporate safeguards to protect both patient and healthcare workers. This recommendation for current practices aims to give a practical approach to modify current practices to maintain safety during the pandemic. These recommendations are the consensus amongst ORL practitioners in Hospital Sungai Buloh which is the designated COVID-19 centre for Malaysia’s central region and is currently being practised.
