    BACKGROUND: Brugia malayi is endemic in several Asian countries with the highest prevalence in Indonesia. Determination of prevalence of lymphatic filariasis by serology has been performed by various investigators using different kinds of antigen (either soluble worm antigen preparations or recombinant antigens). This investigation compared the data obtained from IgG4 assays using two different kinds of antigen in a study on prevalence of antibodies to B. malayi. METHODS: Serum samples from a transmigrant population and life long residents previously tested with IgG4 assay using soluble worm antigen (SWA-ELISA), were retested with an IgG4 assay that employs BmR1 recombinant antigen (BmR1 dipstick [Brugia Rapid trade mark ]). The results obtained with the two antigens were compared, using Pearson chi-square and McNemar test. RESULTS: There were similarities and differences in the results obtained using the two kinds of antigen (SWA and BmR1). Similarities included the observation that assays using both antigens demonstrated an increasing prevalence of IgG4 antibodies in the transmigrant population with increasing exposure to the infection, and by six years living in the area, antibody prevalence was similar to that of life-long residents. With regards to differences, of significance is the demonstration of similar antibody prevalence in adults and children by BmR1 dipstick whereas by SWA-ELISA the antibody prevalence in adults was higher than in children. CONCLUSIONS: Results and conclusions made from investigations of prevalence of anti-filarial IgG4 antibody in a population would be affected by the assay employed in the study.

    Based on the results of the initial survey it was known that the number of babies who visited Puskesmas Tirawuta in 2017 were 42 in number. Whereas in 2018 March-May there were 25 babies at Puskesmas Tirawuta, East Kolaka District. In addition, the initial interview on March 26, 2018 showed that the author did this at Puskesmas Tirawuta, and it obtained a mother who had a baby and visited for immunizations. About 7 people said the baby had trouble in sleeping and sometimes they were fussy. Besides, some report frequent waking up when sleeping at night, crying when waking up and so on. Among the mothers who brought their babies to Puskesmas, 7 mothers said they knew or had heard about baby massage but is not knowledgeable how to massage properly. About 3 people said that at the same time they did not know how to massage a baby. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of baby massage toward the quantity of sleeping among the babies aged 3-6 month at the Puskesmas Tirawuta in East Kolaka District. The design of this study is quasi-experimental where the design used was "One Group Pretest-Posttest Design". The population in this study was the number of babies aged 3-6 months with decreased sleeping quantity. Nearly 25 babies with a sample of 13 respondents were there. Data was processed using Paired T-Test. The results of the analysis obtained the value of t count=3.742>1.356 where t table for df 12 with the results of statistical tests was significant at a value 0.003<0.20. This showed that there was a significant effect of giving baby massage on the quantity of sleep among babies aged 3-6 months at Puskesmas Tirawuta, East Kolaka District. From the results of the research, suggestions were proposed that health workers need to conduct counseling, demonstration and distribution of leaflets. Hence, mothers were motivated to massage their babies. This could be done through Integrated Healthcare Center activities.

    BACKGROUND: A clinical trial is ongoing to evaluate the safety and efficacy of a monkeypox vaccine among healthcare workers (HCWs). The critical question that needs to be addressed is whether HCWs are willing to accept and purchase this vaccine. The objective of this study was to evaluate the acceptance and willingness to pay (WTP) for the vaccine among HCWs.

    METHODS: From May to July 2019, a cross-sectional study was conducted among registered general practitioners (GPs) in Indonesia. A contingent valuation method was employed to evaluate the WTP. Besides acceptance and WTP, various explanatory variables were also collected and assessed. A logistic regression and a multivariable linear regression were used to explore the explanatory variables influencing acceptance and WTP, respectively.

    RESULTS: Among 407 respondents, 391 (96.0%) expressed acceptance of a free vaccination. The mean and median WTP was US$ 37.0(95%CI:US$ 32.76-US$ 41.23) and US$ 17.90(95%CI:US$ 17.90-US$ 17.90), respectively. In an unadjusted analysis, those 30 years old or younger had 2.94 times greater odds of vaccine acceptance compared to those who were older (95%CI: 1.07-8.08). Location of alma mater, type of workplace, length of individual medical experience, and monthly income of GPs were all significantly associated with WTP.

    CONCLUSION: Although the vast majority of GPs would accept a freely provided vaccine, they were also somewhat price sensitive. This finding indicates that partial subsidy maybe required to achieve high vaccine coverage, particularly among GPs at community health centres or those with a shorter duration of medical practice.
