METHODS: An electronic search of literature was conducted in PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar in addition to a manual search in specialized journals up to May 2024. The eligibility criteria, data extraction, and evaluation of risk of bias were assessed by two independent authors. The risk of bias was evaluated in accordance with Modified CONSORT checklist items for pre-clinical in vitro studies on dental materials.
RESULTS: Out of 343 studies, thirty-seven fulfilled the inclusion criteria and were included in this review. Thirty studies reported a good antibacterial efficacy of Biodentine against E. faecalis. Biodentine was superior to or, at least, as efficacious as MTA, MTA Angelus, GIC, RMGIC, DiaRoot BioAggregate, NeoPutty, iRoot FS, MTA Repair HP, MTA Biorep, Well-Root PT, Activa, NeoMTA 2, Calcimol LC, TotalFill, and IRM. The findings were supported by studies with medium to high risk of bias (low quality).
CONCLUSIONS: Considering the limitations of this systematic review, there is accumulating evidence on the antibacterial activity of Biodentine against E. faecalis in context of endodontics. However, randomized clinical trials with well-designed and robust methodologies are required in order to provide information about its clinical behaviour.
METHODS: A case-control study was conducted among 317 caregivers of individuals with IDD (n = 168) and control (n = 149) groups, which involved the completion of the questionnaire. A closed-ended, validated self-designed questionnaire was distributed. The questionnaire included questions addressing participants' oral health knowledge and behavior. Convenience sampling was used to select the caregivers from centers associated with IDD by collecting data from nearby locations. Using SPSS® software Version 22 with a 0.05 level of significance data were analyzed. A Chi-square test and contingency-table analysis were performed on the data.
RESULTS: Caregivers for individuals with IDD in Jordan were less knowledgeable about different oral health aspects than control group (P value
OBJECTIVE: The present study analyzes the expression of H19 correlated with clinicopathological parameters, tobacco habit, loco-regional recurrence, and overall survival.
METHODS: A longitudinal study was undertaken using 96 formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded (FFPE) OSCC tissues and 30 FFPE adjacent normal mucosa (NM) tissues from patients who had surgery between 2015 and 2018. The tissues were subjected to quantitative reverse-transcription PCR (qRT-PCR) to determine H19 expression. The differential expression levels of H19 in OSCC were compared to clinicopathological variables and risk habits using the t-test and ANOVA. H19 expression correlated overall survival was analyzed by drawing the Kaplan-Meier curve followed by the log-rank test. A multivariate Cox proportional hazards regression analysis was performed to determine the ability of H19 to independently predict loco-regional recurrence and overall survival for OSCC.
RESULT: H19 was significantly underexpressed in OSCC compared to NM in both the study cases and the TCGA OSCC database. The lower expression of H19 was significantly associated with the tobacco smoking habit and was not associated with any clinical or pathological features. Multivariate Cox's proportional hazards regression analysis indicated that low H19 expression and positive lymph node metastasis were independent predictors of overall survival for OSCC. Higher age, higher TNM staging, and low H19 expression were independent predictors of loco-regional recurrence.
CONCLUSION: The findings in the present study indicate that H19 is a novel prognostic marker and may provide a therapeutic strategy for the targeted treatment of OSCC, and tobacco may play a role in the expression of H19.
METHODS: This study is a multicentral study conducted at Somali International University, Horn of Africa University, and Daha International University. A total of 1,189 respondents were asked to answer the online questionnaire provided via a link shared using their social media.
RESULTS: After COVID-19 restrictions approximately ≥ 150 minutes of PA per week was reported by 500 men (97.3%) and 652 women (96.6%) at work. While 7 (1.4%) of men and 20 (3%) of women participate in < 150 minutes each week, respectively. Furthermore, only seven (1.4%) of males and three (0.4%) of women reported to have not performed any PA at work.
CONCLUSION: The majority of the undergraduate students at the selected universities in Mogadishu were physically active after the relaxation of COVID-19 rules in Somalia. Such a high level of PA is a significant advantage to public health.
METHODS: A retrospective case control study was conducted. A total of 100 subjects were included. Data was gathered from the databases of Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia and Hospital Raja Perempuan Zainab II, respectively. Cone beam computed tomography scans of both cleft and non-cleft individuals were utilized to determine the MPS maturation stages. Romexis software version 3.8.2 was used to analyze the images.
RESULTS: The results of the binary logistic regression model were utilized to establish the relationship between the probability (P) of a specific event of interest (P(Y = 1)) and a linear combination of independent variables (Xs) using the logit link function. Potential factors such as age, gender, cleft, category of malocclusion, and MPS were chosen which could play a role in predicting the technique of RME in children with UCLP and non-UCLP. A subset of these variables was validated via multilayer feed forward neural network (MLFFNN).
CONCLUSIONS: The effectiveness of the hybrid biometric model created in this work, which combines bootstrap and BLR with R-syntax was evaluated in terms of how accurately it predicted a binary response variable. A validation method based on an MLFFNN was used to evaluate the precision of the generated model. This leads to a good outcome.
