    The presentation of this data focuses on analysing the dynamic role of economic growth, foreign direct investment and financial globalization uncertainty on financial development of selected leading African economies, spanning the year 1970 to 2018, and the data were obtained from world development indicators and global financial development databases. Second generation econometrics techniques were deployed for the analysis. We began with the descriptive and correlation statistics in order to ascertain the normality of the data. Also, homogeneity and cross-sectional dependency tests were carried out to validate the whether or not the data is heterogeneous and depend upon each other across the series. As well, the [3] co-integration and dynamic common correlated effect [1] and pool mean group [2] estimates were applied to confirm the presence of long-run relationship and their effects on the financial development among the sampled countries.

    This data was obtained from a cross-sectional survey of 188 final year Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students in a Malaysian Public University. The survey was self-administered to final year BBA students undergoing seminar course prior to the commencement of their industrial training in the coming semester. A regression analysis was conducted in order to assess the link between students' self-esteem, pro-active personality, and social support with their career adaptability using the Statistical Package of the Social Sciences (SPSS) 20. Specifically, this data article provides data about the participants' demographic characteristics, as well as the mean, standard deviation and reliability of the measured constructs. It is believed by the authors that the dataset will guide policy makers on the choice of predictor(s) that could boost the level of students' career adaptability, most especially during the school to work transition, in this current volatile labour market.

    This paper presents the dataset of undergraduates learning habits during and before the occurrence of pandemic COVID-19 under the scope of sociodemographic and psychological aspects. This dataset consists of four (4) main sections which are students' demographic, psychological disruption, students' learning habits and integration of online sessions with sustainability topics. A total of 37 variables were distributed via an online survey platform. The link of the online survey was circulated to the students using few social media platforms such as WhatsApp groups, Telegram, and faculties' Facebook starting from June 1 until June 31, 2020. There was a total of 668 respondents accompanied by consent were agreed to join the survey. This dataset can have an important role for research and education in identifying the impact on learning performance among the undergraduate students during COVID-19 pandemic based on different sociodemographic and psychological aspects.

    Mycoplasma gallisepticum is a bacterium of class Mollicutes which encompasses wall-less bacteria with significantly reduced genomes. Due to their overall reduction and simplicity mycoplasmas serve as a model of minimal cell and are used for systems biology studies. Here we present raw data on translatome (ribosome-bound mRNA) analysis of Mycoplasma gallisepticum under logarithm growth and heat stress. The data supports the publication of "Ribosomal profiling of Mycoplasma gallisepticum" (G. Y. Fisunov, D. V Evsyutina, A. A. Arzamasov, I. O. Butenko, V. M. Govorun, 2015) [1].

    Impatiens balsamina is both an ornamental and pharmacologically important plant widely distributed in many Asian countries. The leaf of the plant contains many secondary metabolites possessing anti-microbial, anti-tumour and anti-cancer properties. Though there are many phytochemical studies done on the different natural extracts for this plant, not much of genetic information is currently available. This is the first transcriptome of I. balsamina leaf using paired-end Illumina HiSeq sequencing which generated 10.79 GB of raw data. Information of pre-processing (reads filtering), de novo assembly and functional annotation are presented. This data is accessible via NCBI BioProject (PRJNA505711).

    The goal of this study was to identify the biosurfactant-producing bacteria isolated from agro-food industrial effluet. The identification of the potential bacterial strain using a polymerase chain reaction of the 16S rRNA gene analysis was closely related to Serratia marcescens with its recorded strain of SA30 "Fundamentals of mass transfer and kinetics for biosorption of oil and grease from agro-food industrial effluent by Serratia marcescens SA30" (Fulazzaky et al., 2015) [1]; however, many biochemical tests have not been published yet. The biochemical tests of biosurfactant production, haemolytic assay and cell surface hydrophobicity were performed to investigate the beneficial strain of biosurfactant-producing bacteria. Here we do share data collected from the biochemical tests to get a better understanding of the use of Serratia marcescens SA30 to degrade oil, which contributes the technical features of strengthening the biological treatment of oil-contaminated wastewater in tropical environments.

    We report the whole genome sequencing data and de novo genome assemblies for eight extended-spectrum beta-lactamases (ESBL) producing Enterobacteriaceae isolates from Malaysia consisting of four Klebsiella pneumoniae, two Enterobacter harmaechei, one Citrobacter freundii and one Escherichia coli. We identified at least one ESBL gene in each genome, with blaCTX-M-15 being the most prevalent ESBL gene in the current genomic sampling.

    This dataset contains information of 375 respondents on green consumption behaviour. The questionnaire was developed using Theory of Planned Behaviour as the foundation. The variables available in the dataset are Environmental Concern (EC), Social Influence (SI), Perceived behavioural control (PBC), Consumer novelty seeking (CNS) and Green consumption behaviour (GC). In addition to the variables related to green consumption, the dataset also includes demographic and media preference information of the respondents. The data was collected via self-administered questionnaire in seven major cities in Klang Valley, namely Shah Alam, Bangsar, Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, Puchong, Serdang and Putrajaya. The dataset can have an important role for research in consumer behaviour towards developing green consumers.

    This study intended to validate customer inspiration (CI)in Malaysian/developing country context. Data were collected from two different respondents for two studies - from Millennial customers of the auto industry and Generation Z customers of the smartphone industry. The survey conducted through a standardized and structured questionnaire. The variables of the both studies were customer-defined market orientation (MO) (customer orientation, competitor orientation, and interfunctional coordination), CI (inspired-by and inspired-to), and customer loyalty (CL). This research strategy, in terms of quantity, is descriptive and correlational. Statistical analysis of the data was carried out, using ADANCO 2.0. The finding of the study suggests all results of data 1 and data 2 were significant, and CI mediates the sub-constructs of MO with CL.

    The mechanical properties of electrospun polyacrylonitrile (PAN)-based membranes for ultrafiltration, such as oil-water separation and heavy metals from water, are often characterised in the dry state but little is known about the membrane properties in the hydrated state. This dataset comprised mechanical properties and structure-related properties of electrospun PAN-based membranes. The mechanical dataset described the yield strength and strain, stiffness, resilience energy, fracture strength, strain at fracture and fracture toughness of electrospun neat PAN and halloysite nanotube (HNT) reinforced PAN membranes in both hydrated and dry states. The data related to the hydrated state were derived from direct measurements of the mechanical properties of the PAN-based membrane using a novel environmental micromechanical tester. The structure-related dataset comprised electron micrographs and quantitative measurements (fibre diameter and pore diameter) derived from the micrographs. For further interpretation and discussion of the dataset, the reader is referred to the research data article, "Direct measurement of the elasticity and fracture properties of electrospun polyacrylonitrile/halloysite fibrous mesh in water" (Govindasamy et al., 2014).

    Thermovorax subterraneus 70BT is a thermophile found in a geothermically active underground mine. The strain 70BT belongs to the class of Clostridia, order of Thermosediminibacterales, and family of Thermosediminibacteraceae. Strain 70BT was the only type strain since the genus was discovered >10 years ago. Strain 70BT was compared to strains from other genera in terms of its phenotypics, chemotaxonomics, and phylogenetics (16S rRNA gene) in previous studies. However, the genome sequence of this strain has not been described. We herein described the genome sequence of strain 70BT. In total, the assembled genome of strain 70BT has a size of 2,451,552 bp, contributed by 44 contigs, with a coverage of 445X, a N50 of 86,294 bp, and a GC% of 43.8. A total of 2,540 genes were encoded in the genome, including 2,431 protein-coding sequences, 46 pseudogenes, and 63 RNA genes. Through the Cluster of Orthologous Groups (COGs) analysis, a total of 2,404 protein-coding genes were functionally assigned to COGs in the genome of strain 70BT. Among the members of Thermosediminibacteraceae family, strain 70BT has the closest relationship to Caldanaerovirga acetigignens JW/SA-NV4T based on the genome-to-genome comparison indexes (i.e., ANI, dDDH, AAI, and POCP). An earlier study reported that strain 70BT could produce hydrogen. We discovered genes encoding [FeFe] hydrogenase through gene mining analysis. For future research, this genome data will be used as a reference for all matters pertaining to the genus Thermovorax and family Thermosediminibacteraceae.

    The genome data of Streptomyces sp. FH025 comprised of 8,381,474 bp with a high GC content of 72.51%. The genome contains 7035 coding sequences spanning 1261 contigs. Streptomyces sp. FH025 contains 57 secondary metabolite gene clusters including polyketide synthase, nonribosomal polyketide synthase and other biosynthetic pathways such as amglyccycl, butyrolactone, terpenes, siderophores, lanthipeptide-class-iv, and ladderane. 16S rRNA analysis of Streptomyces sp. FH025 is similar to the Streptomyces genus. This whole genome project has been deposited at NCBI under the accession JAFLNG000000000.

    The dataset presented in this paper consists of a network of interpersonal lending relations from a single village of a deprivated area of Hungary. The data are originated from quantitative surveys from May 2014 to June 2014. The data collection was embedded in a Participatory Action Research (PAR) which aimed to investigate the financial survival strategies of low-income households in a Hungarian village in a disadvantaged region. The directed graphs of lending and borrowing are a unique dataset that empirically captures a hidden and informal financial activity between households. The network contains 164 households and 281 credit connections among them.

    Jatropha curcas L. or the physic nut is a monoecious shrub belonging to the Euphorbiaceae family. The plant is an ideal feedstock for biodiesel production; oil-rich seed (37-42%), has a broad range of growth habitat such as arid, semi-arid and tropical and a relatively feasible process for conversion of crude oil into biodiesel. The major constraint affecting the success of large-scale J. curcas plantation is seed yield inconsistency. Numerous research projects conducted on J. curcas with integrated genetic, genomic and transcriptomic approaches have been applied on the leaf, apical meristem, flower, root and fruit tissues. However, to date, no genomics data of J. curcas shoot system are publicly available, despite its importance in understanding flowering, fruiting and seed set qualities targeted for yield improvement. Here, we present eighteen sets of shoot and inflorescence transcriptomes generated from J. curcas plants with contrasting yields. Raw reads of the RNA-seq data are found in NCBI׳s Sequence Read Archive (SRA) database with the accession number SRP090662 (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/sra/?term=SRP090662). This transcriptomic data could be integrated with the present genomic resources for in depth understanding of J. curcas reproductive system.

    A significant source of microplastics is from the usage of microbeads in the market since petrochemical plastic bead is a material used in cosmetic scrubs. A possible way to counteract the problem is by the substitution of synthetic plastic to natural biodegradable polymer. Polyhydroxyalkanoate (PHA) is a general class of thermoplastic microbial polymer and it is the best alternative to some petrochemical plastics due to its biodegradability. Some PHA has earned its way into cosmetic application due to its biocompatibility. This data article reports data on the development of biodegradable microbeads by using the double emulsion solvent evaporation technique. Our data describe the extraction of biopolymer from marine bacteria that was cultivated in shaken flask culture, removal of endotoxins using oxidizing agent, the production of microbeads using a peristaltic pump with a specific flowrate and silicon tubing, and the cytotoxicity of the microbeads.

    In this dataset, we differentiate four different tissues of Cosmos caudatus Kunth (leaves, flowers, stem and root) obtained from UKM Bangi plot, based on Fourier transform-infrared spectroscopy. Different tissues of C. caudatus demonstrated the position and intensity of characteristic peaks at 4000-450 cm-1. Principal component analysis (PCA) shows three main groups were formed. The samples from leaves and flowers were found to be clustered together in one group, while the samples from stems and roots were clustered into two separate groups, respectively. This data provides an insight into the fingerprint identification and distribution of metabolites in the different organs of this species.

    The data presented in this paper is supporting the research article "Life history traits predict the response to increased light among 33 tropical rainforest tree species" [3]. We show basic growth and survival data collected over the 6 years duration of the experiment, as well as data from traits inventories covering 12 tree traits collected prior to and after a canopy reduction treatment in 2013. Further, we also include canopy closure and forest light environment data from measurements with hemispherical photographs before and after the treatment.

    Clinical diagnosis of inborn errors of metabolism in the suspected patients is usually guided by the initial general investigations in the laboratory such as the concentration of ammonia, blood gases status, blood glucose and ketones. The establishment of a biochemical diagnosis in patients with inborn errors of metabolism depends on the detection of the specific metabolites in the abnormal metabolic pathway which can appear in any of the body fluids but are most commonly tested in blood and urine samples. Acylcarnitine and/or acylcarnitine ratio in patients with carnitine acylcarnitine translocase and carnitine palmitoyl transferase deficiency showed an abnormal profile regardless of the metabolic status of patients. The acylcarnitine was derived from the analysis of dried blood spot using multiple reaction monitoring (MRM) which was performed using quadrupole mass spectrometry. The dataset presented in this article was generated from analysis of acylcarnitines in the 17,121 dried blood spots from symptomatic Malaysian patients less than fifty years old who exhibited symptoms suggestive of inborn errors of metabolism, but had a normal acylcarnitine profile. A precursor or ion scan of m/z 85 was selected for the analysis. Quantification of each analyte was obtained using the signal intensity ratio of the acylcarnitine to its internal standard. The acylcarnitines analyzed included C0, C2, C3, C3DC, C4, C5, C5:1, C5DC, C5OH, C6, C8, C10, C12, C14, C16, C18, C18:1, C16OH, C18OH and C18:1OH and was analyzed using Neolynx V4.0 software. We decided to choose the 1st and 99th percentiles as the minimum and maximum cut-offs. The filtered part of data in this article was used in the article Novel mutations associated with Carnitine-Acylcarnitine Translocase and Carnitine Palmitoyl Transferase 2 deficiencies in Malaysia. This dataset is intended to enable the scientific communities to get access to the raw dataset for future translational research use in inborn errors of metabolism as very few acylcarnitine data was developed and published for the symptomatic patients suspected of inborn errors of metabolism especially in the Asian population.

    This dataset describes two main variables, technological pedagogical and content knowledge (TPACK) and Beliefs on ICT, which may affect pre-service teachers' (PSTs) use of ICT (UICT) during teaching practices. TPACK assumes that PSTs should actively combine some domains of knowledge to design good quality of ICT-integrated courses lessons. Beliefs on ICT in this study consist of a mix of behavioral, normative, and control beliefs on ICT integration in education. In addition, UICT is defined as ICT used by PSTs during teaching practices. Three approaches were applied for the purification of the dataset; development of instruments, survey, and exploratory factor analysis (EFA). The dataset consists of demographic information, TPACK, Beliefs on ICT, and UICT. The dataset is beneficial to teacher educators in designing effective programs that best nurture PSTs' UICT during teaching practices. Researchers sharing similar sample characteristics in developing countries may adapt this dataset for more rigorous statistical analyses.

    This data article provides population frequencies for 21 autosomal and two sex determining short tandem repeat (STR) loci in unrelated Kedayan individuals. This article is related to the research paper entitled "Forensic parameters and ancestral fraction in the Kedayan population inferred using 21 autosomal STR loci" [1] where these same data were subjected to ancestry and forensic analyses. We have collected 200 blood samples consisting of 128 male and 72 female volunteer representatives from Kedayan people residing in various parts of Borneo. All 23 STR loci were simultaneously amplified using Globalfiler™ Express PCR and amplicons were separated using an ABI 3500xl Genetic Analyzer. The STR allele calls at each locus were called using GeneMapperⓇ ID-X Software v1.4, while several algorithms in Arlequin software version 3.5 were used to estimate Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium (HWE) and linkage disequilibrium (LD) between pairs of STR loci.
