    Introduction: Schizophrenia is a chronic mental illness with clusters of symptoms, including cognitive impairment. This study aimed to explore the effect of Tualang Honey (TH) on cognitive domains, especially as it pertained to the verbal memory of schizophrenia patients.

    Method: This was a cross-sectional study involved 80 individuals, diagnosed with schizophrenia. The Malay Version Auditory Verbal Learning Test (MVAVLT) was used. Data were analysed using SPSS 20.0 software. Intention to treat analysis was applied.

    Result: A comparison of the total learning score at eight weeks between the two groups based on time effect and time-treatment interaction favoured TH group.

    Conclusion: This study concludes that by supplementing schizophrenia patients with 8-week of TH did improve total learning performance across domains in the immediate memory among patients with schizophrenia.

    Testicular veins are known to show many variations in their origin, course and termination. Some of their variations can lead to male sterility. We report a unique variation of right testicular vein here. Pampiniform plexus reduced to three testicular veins (medial, middle and lateral) at the deep inguinal ring on the right side. The medial vein terminated into the right renal vein, the middle vein terminated into the inferior vena cava above the level of right renal vein (close to the suprarenal gland) and the lateral vein terminated partly into the veins in the capsules of the kidney and partly into the veins under the diaphragm. The medial and middle testicular veins were connected through an oblique communicating vein. The middle and lateral testicular veins were also connected to each other through another oblique communicating vein. Knowledge of this case could be useful to radiologists, nephrologists and surgeons in general.

    The unprecedented growth of social media usage questions the conventional customer relationship management (CRM). Social CRM strategy is a novel version of CRM empowered by social media technology that offers a new way of managing relationships with customers effectively. The aims of this study are two-fold, examining the important determinants of the successful adoption of the social CRM; and to validate the outcomes on this novel social CRM adoption in the healthcare industry. The proposed adoption model of this study derived with theoretical support from TOE, DOI and ISS theories in IS/IT, social media, and CRM literatures. This undertaking focuses on the use of structural equations modelling, to examine a theoretical social CRM (Social Customer Relationship Management) model involving 17 Iraqi hospitals, and a sample total of 428. The model's principal independent constructs are associated to the viewpoint of top management, IT staff and operational staff, regarding the grounds for social CRM adoption, the operations performed on social CRM, and the themes employed. PLS-SEM was applied for statistical analysis, to evaluate the hypnotized linkages between the variables. The results show that, social CRM adoption has a tremendous impact on healthcare organizations with its perceived benefits. According to the results attained, all constructs have significant impact on social CRM adoption except for leadership knowledge. Consequently, adoption results in remarkable outcomes that gives credence to the intervening performance of social CRM. Following an examination of the model, which included a scrutiny of its pathways, we are of the view that the concerns, past history, and potential let-downs with regards to social CRM adoption, need to be thoroughly investigated. This study is one of the few researches that provide the in-depth knowledge about the constructs impacting CRM transformation and the benefits attained. The results can guide healthcare providers during their efforts to develop effective marketing techniques, and advance the perceived benefits, particularly in the healthcare profession. Moreover, this study contributes to the IS literature by suggesting the empirically extended TOE model which advances the conventional TOE model.

    This comprehensive bibliometric study analyzes 1820 journal articles from the Web of Science database to explore Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) leadership in higher education institutions (HEIs). Utilizing co-citation and co-word analysis, the study identifies distinct thematic clusters. The co-citation analysis reveals five key themes: Race, Diversity, and Inclusion (RDI), Diversity, Leadership, and Self-Efficacy (DLSE), Gender Dynamics and Leadership Challenges, Women's Representation in Academic Medicine Leadership, and Transformational Leadership in HEIs. Meanwhile, the co-word analysis highlights three critical areas: Transformative Collaborative Resilience in HEIs, Advancing Gender Equality in Academic Medicine and STEM, and Inclusive Educational Leadership in HEIs. These themes collectively provide a deep understanding of the EDI leadership field's intellectual structure, suggesting significant areas for future research and practical application. The study emphasizes the necessity for HEIs to engage comprehensively in EDI leadership research, shedding light on the importance of transformative collaborative resilience, gender equality in STEM, and inclusive leadership. This research offers valuable insights for developing effective EDI leadership policies and practices, highlighting the interconnectedness of these themes in fostering a more equitable, diverse, and inclusive environment in higher education and beyond.

    This study analyzes the association between trait driving anger and driving styles in a sample of Colombian professional drivers. Additionally, the internal and external validity of the Deffenbacher's Driving Anger Scale (DAS-14) was examined in the study population. The DAS-14 and the Spanish Version of the Multidimensional Driving Style Inventory (S-MDSI) were administered to 492 urban bus and taxi operators. Average trait driving anger scores in the study population were similar to those reported in previous validation studies from Spain, Argentina, China, and Malaysia. After deleting three cross-loaded items, confirmatory factor analyses revealed a three-dimensional latent structure for the DAS-14, similar but not equal to the previous Spanish speaking validations. This factorial structure fits the data reasonably well. Finally, linear regression analyses revealed that the three factors of the DAS-14 (impeded progress by others, illegal driving, and direct hostility) significantly predict adaptive and maladaptive driving styles. Overall, the results of this study suggest that the DAS-14 is a reasonably reliable measure of driving anger traits among professional drivers, and it also provides relevant insights for the prevention of risky driving styles in this occupational group.

    This study aims to justify the mediating effect of organizational commitment in the association between training and development, career development, and work performance. Data was collected from 362 frontline hotel employees through a survey by random sampling technique. The analysis methodology comprises descriptive statistics, measurement, and structure models through SPSS 23 and Smarts PLS 3.0. This study significantly examined the correlation between training and development and work performance, career development, and work performance. Moreover, organizational commitment in the hotel sector is significantly associated with work performance. Furthermore, the significant correlation between training and development and work performance career development among hotel personnel is mediated by organizational commitment. Owners and managers should know the necessary policies to enhance employees' work performance and organizational commitment and consider appropriate behaviour. Besides, all required facilities for enhancing career development and training and development should be implemented to strengthen hotels' present and future demands. It is furthered by the study's explanations of the results and their limitations, which also included suggestions for future research possibilities. This research filled the gap in the hotel industry in Bangladesh, where study works into wide-ranging training and development, career development practices, organizational commitment, and work performance were rare.

    Toxoplasma gondii (T. gondii) is a parasite capable of residing in the brain of their host which influences behaviour changes due to alterations in the neurotransmitters. Consequently, dopamine receptors (DRD) and indoleamine 2, 3 dioxygenase (IDO) dysregulation facilitate the progression of behaviour changes in a host as a response to infection. This study tested the effect of neurotransmitter changes as a result of T. gondii infection on rats cognitive impairment. The T. gondii strain of type I, II and III from Malaysia were previously identified by standard procedures. Sporulated oocysts each of type I, II and III were inoculated separately into three groups of Wistar rats (n = 9) respectively. Two separate control groups received either phosphate buffered saline (PBS) or MK-801 (dizocilpine). Behaviour changes were evaluated at nine weeks post infection in a square box, elevated plus maze and gene expression level of DRD and IDO compounds. The study revealed increased fatal feline attraction, reduced anxiety, decreased DRD and increased IDO gene expression in the T. gondii infected groups and MK-801 compared to the PBS control group. In conclusion, T. gondii infection alter the level of neurotransmitters in rat which cause cognitive impairment. This implies that all the T. gondii strain can cause behaviour changes if human were infected.

    Malaysia is a megadiverse country and listed as one of the world's biodiversity hotspots. Land use changes and deforestation have led to the threat of, and extinction of plant species. In order to mitigate loss in population numbers, and to prevent species extinction events, Important Plant Areas (IPA) for Malaysia shall be identified. The identification of IPA is important to ensure that key natural areas are adequately protected and managed to preserve the species and its habitats. Currently, there are 1771 IPA identified globally and only seven tropical countries are actively involved excluding Malaysia. Inventory and biodiversity research are actively conducted in Malaysia, however, the initiative to identify IPA is still in its infancy. The first attempt for IPA identification was in the state of Terengganu by using herbarium database through scoring technique. In this paper, we discussed methods and criteria used in IPA identification globally. We also deliberated current IPA development in Terengganu and challenges such as collections biases and the need for a robust scoring technique to reduce judgement uncertainty. We suggested GIS based multi-criteria decision making, analytical hierarchy process and species distribution for Malaysian IPA. These strategies were considered to be effective tools in providing decision support for spatial planning aimed at plant conservation in Malaysia.

    Halal is a crucial concept for Muslim consumers regarding consumed products, including pharmaceutical ingredients, which are essential in modern medicine. To address the issue of using porcine-sourced ingredients in pharmaceuticals, it is essential to search for halal alternatives derived from poultry, animal by-products from meat processing, marine sources, and plants. However, the complexity of this problem is further compounded by the rapid advances in innovation and technology, which can lead to adulteration of ingredients derived from pigs. Other challenges include the sustainability of alternative materials, management of waste or by-products practice, halal awareness, certification, government policies, religious adherence of consumers, food suppliers, marketers, and purchasing of products. The importance of halal and non-halal problems, specifically in the context of pharmaceutical materials, is still rarely discussed, including alternatives derived from poultry, animal by-products, marine sources, and plants. Due to the increasing global population, there is a growing need to increase awareness and concern among Muslim consumers for halal products, including pharmaceuticals. Therefore, this research aimed to investigate the importance of halal and non-halal issues in pharmaceutical ingredients, the potential impact on the Muslim community, as well as opportunities and challenges in the search for alternative ingredients.

    This study has been undertaken to investigate the evaluation of Fiber-reinforced Foamed Concrete (FRFC) performance by the use of toughness and non-destructive tests. These tests cover the workability, density, static modulus of elasticity, toughness, ultrasonic pulse velocity and absorption tests. Different FRFC mixes using carbon fibers in the order of 0.5, 1 and 1.5% carbon fibers were used. Also, the combinations of carbon fibers (C) and polypropylene fibers (PP) as 1% C+ 0.5% PP, and 0.5% C+1% PP were prepared. Lastly, the inclusion of polypropylene fibers with the order of 1.5% PP was used to strengthen the foamed concrete mix. The results showed that the use of 1.5% of C has affected the modulus of elasticity and flexural toughness of foamed concrete. On the other hand, a strong relationship is found between compressive strength and ultrasonic pulse velocity for FRFC.

    In an attempt to combat the possibility of bacterial infection and insufficient bone growth around metallic, surgical implants, bioactive glasses may be employed as coatings. In this work, silica-based and borate-based glass series were synthesized for this purpose and subsequently characterized in terms of antibacterial behavior, solubility and cytotoxicity. Borate-based glasses were found to exhibit significantly superior antibacterial properties and increased solubility compared to their silica-based counterparts, with BRT0 and BRT3 (borate-based glasses with 0 and 15 mol% of titanium dioxide incorporated, respectively) outperforming the remainder of the glasses, both borate and silicate based, in these respects. Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy confirmed the release of zinc ions (Zn(2+)), which has been linked to the antibacterial abilities of glasses SRT0, BRT0 and BRT3, with inhibition effectively achieved at concentrations lower than 0.7 ppm. In vitro cytotoxicity studies using MC3T3-E1 osteoblasts confirmed that cell proliferation was affected by all glasses in this study, with decreased proliferation attributed to a faster release of sodium ions over calcium ions in both glass series, factor known to slow cell proliferation in vitro.

    In language studies, marked by a myriad of psychological and social, and linguistic factors, linear modeling fails to represent the creativity, irregularity and emergent patterns of behavior. To adequately represent the dynamicity and complexity of psychological or affective variables, time-sensitive non-linear modeling is needed, especially the time series analysis (TSA), which accommodates incompatibility over time. TSA is a mathematical framework that can effectively show whether and to what degree the measured time series represent nonlinear variation through time. TSA makes prediction or retrodiction of complex and dynamic phenomena possible in future or past and, thus, can significantly contribute to the unraveling of the nuanced changes in the progress of different learner-related constructs during learning a new language. The present paper, at first, offers an introductory overview of the TSA, and then pinpoints its technical features and procedures. Exemplary works of research in language studies will be reviewed next, followed by useful conclusive remarks about the subject. Finally, suggestions will be made for further investigation of language-related affective variables using this innovative method.

    MXene-based nanofluids are novel trends with improved dispersion stability and thermophysical characteristics over previously established nanofluids. In the present work, the thermohydraulic characteristics of a double pipe heat exchanger (DPHEX) with a Therminol55(TH55)/MXene + Al2O3 nanofluid and various geometrically shaped (triangular, rectangular) ribbed twisted tape (TT) inserts are numerically investigated using the ANSYS Fluent interface. A counter flow arrangement with three different types of inserts (RRTT, TRTT, TT) and TH55/MXene + Al2O3 nanofluid at 0.20 wt% are studied inside the heat exchanger. Adding ribbed inserts to the conventional TT insert enhances the turbulence intensity by creating extra vortices. The thermal boundary layer grows thinner due to increased axial and radial velocity. Due to the substantial flow obstruction, adding ribs increases the overall pressure drop between the inlet and outlet. The maximum increase in Nu is 11.04 % using nanofluid instead of water, whereas the combination of insert and nanofluid exhibited up to 105 % enhancement for rectangular-ribbed TT compared to the plain tube. Nevertheless, the pressure decrease is found to be maximum in rectangular-ribbed TT because of significant flow disruption. This was likewise true with triangular-ribbed TT and TT insert. According to the PEC assessment, the RRTT insert had a maximum PEC value of 1.67 greater than TRTT and traditional TT for both TH55 and nanofluid flowing inside the tube. To summarize, the combination of TH55/MXene + Al2O3 RRTT insert may be a promising choice for improving heat exchanger performance in a new generation efficient thermal system.

    The article examines the thermal responses of one-ply triaxially woven fabric composites (TWFCs). A temperature change experimental observation is first conducted on plate and slender strip specimens of TWFCs. Computational simulations are then performed with analytical and simple, geometrically-similar model configurations to capture thereby offering insights into the anisotropic thermal effects of the experimentally observed deformation. It is revealed that the leading cause of the observed thermal responses is the advancement of a locally formed twisting deformation mode. Therefore, a newly defined thermal deformation description called the coefficient of thermal twist is then characterized for TWFCs for different loading cases.

    This study explores the impact of thermal annealing gradients on the physical properties and structural evolution of cadmium sulphide (CdS) nanospheres capped with ammonium nitrate as a modifier, which were fabricated through precipitation and subsequent annealing within 160-480 °C temperature range. The properties were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) techniques The XRD results show that the present CdS exhibits superior crystallinity compared to pure CdS without capping, transitions from a cubic to a hexagonal phase structure, and increases in crystallite size and crystallinity with increasing temperature. The FTIR spectra postulate that a vibrational band presence evidences ammonium nitrate capping on CdS, with another distinct band that represents CdS in the lower wavenumber region, both intensifying at elevated temperatures. The UV-Vis analysis reveals that CdS exhibits strong ultraviolet (UV) absorption suitable for effective photoreaction under UV light and has a broader band gap compared to bulk CdS. SEM images show an extensive distribution of homogeneous nanospheres over the surface, with increased growth in size when capped with ammonium nitrate and at higher temperatures. As validated by TGA and DSC results, CdS with a smaller crystallite size improves thermal stability and energy transfer, as evidenced by reduced weight loss and a lower endothermic temperature, respectively. Varying the annealing temperature with ammonium nitrate capping can improve the structural and physical properties of CdS, which are beneficial for varied applications such as optoelectronics, energy storage, and photocatalysts.

    High blood glucose levels are a hallmark of the metabolic syndrome known as diabetes mellitus. More than 600 million people will have diabetes by 2045 as the global prevalence of the disease continues to rise. Contemporary antidiabetic drugs reduce hyperglycemia and its consequences. However, these drugs come with undesirable side effects, so it's encouraging that research into plant extracts and bioactive substances with antidiabetic characteristics is on the rise. Natural remedies are preferable to conventional anti-diabetic drugs since they are safer for the body, more affordable and have fewer potential adverse effects. Biological macromolecules such as liposomes, niosomes, polymeric nanoparticles, solid lipid nanoparticles, nanoemulsions and metallic nanoparticles are explored in this review. Current drug restrictions have been addressed, and the effectiveness of plant-based antidiabetic therapies has enhanced the merits of these methods. Plant extracts' loading capacity and the carriers' stability are the primary obstacles in developing plant-based nanocarriers. Hydrophilic, hydrophobic, and amphiphilic drugs are covered, and a brief overview of the amphipathic features of liposomes, phospholipids, and lipid nanocarriers is provided. Metallic nanoparticles' benefits and attendant risks are highlighted to emphasize their efficiency in treating hyperglycemia. Researchers interested in the potential of nanoparticles loaded with plant extracts as antidiabetic therapeutics may find the current helpful review.

    A green viewpoint based on the production of soap using waste products such waste cooking oils (WCOs) and Endod (Phytolacca dodecandra) is presented. The process of saponification, which involves reacting triglycerides with fats and oils in an alkaline solution, produces soap. With the help of WCO and Endod as manufacturing inputs, this study intends to create high-quality, commercially viable eco-friendly soaps. The optimal blend of WCO and Endod with sodium hydroxide solution was used in the current investigation to create laundry soaps. Evaluations were done on the cleansing effects and physico-chemical makeup of prepared soap. As a reference control, the raw oil soaps made without and with frying were employed. The free caustic alkali content, chloride content, moisture content, ethanol-insoluble-matter, total fatty matter, pH, and foam height values of the prepared soap were found to be in the range of 0%, 0%, 16.56-22.52%, 0.1-3.05%, 63.41-75.46%, 9.22-9.82%, and 3.3-8.1 cm respectively. The results obtained by blending fried WCOs and Endod were comparable to the Physico-chemical properties of the Endod-free uncooked/fresh oil soap. The soap made by blending WCO and Endod has higher cleansing power and better lather formation than the prepared soap with WCO without Endod. Moreover, the observed data are comparable with similar data reported in other literature, recommended acceptable standards (EAS, CES), and from many countries including the British, Malaysia, and the Philippines. Cooking oils fried at different temperatures do not have much effect on the quality of soap making. This suggested that the blending of WCOs and Endod can be used as raw materials to prepare high-quality and economically feasible soaps by replacing imported oils and fats.

    The current study aims to examine the symmetric and asymmetric effects of climate change (CC) on rice productivity (RP) in Malaysia. The Autoregressive-Distributed Lag (ARDL) and Non-linear Autoregressive Distributed Lag (NARDL) models were employed in this study. Time series data from 1980 to 2019 were collected from the World Bank and the Department of Statistics, Malaysia. The estimated results are also validated using Fully Modified Ordinary Least Squares (FMOLS), Dynamic Ordinary Least Squares (DOLS), and Canonical Cointegration Regression (CCR). The findings of symmetric ARDL show that rainfall and cultivated area have significant and advantageous effects on rice output. The NARDL-bound test outcomes display that climate change has an asymmetrical long-run impact on rice productivity. Climate change has had varying degrees of positive and negative impacts on rice productivity in Malaysia. Positive changes in temperature and rainfall have a substantial and destructive impact on RP. At the same time, negative variations in temperature and rainfall have a substantial and positive impact on rice production in the Malaysian agriculture sector. Changes in cultivated areas, both positive and negative, have a long-term optimistic impact on rice output. Additionally, we discovered that only temperature affects rice output in both directions. Malaysian policymakers must understand the symmetric and asymmetric effects of CC on RP and agricultural policies that will promote sustainable agricultural development and food security.

    Machine learning (ML) methods can be leveraged to prevent the spread of deadly infectious disease outbreak (e.g., COVID-19). This can be done by applying machine learning methods in predicting and detecting the deadly infectious disease. Most reviews did not discuss about the machine learning algorithms, datasets and performance measurements used for various applications in predicting and detecting the deadly infectious disease. In contrast, this paper outlines the literature review based on two major ways (e.g., prediction, detection) to limit the spread of deadly disease outbreaks. Hence, this study aims to investigate the state of the art, challenges and future works of leveraging ML methods to detect and predict deadly disease outbreaks according to two categories mentioned earlier. Specifically, this study provides a review on various approaches (e.g., individual and ensemble models), types of datasets, parameters or variables and performance measures used in the previous works. The literature review included all articles from journals and conference proceedings published from 2010 through 2020 in Scopus indexed databases using the search terms Predicting Disease Outbreaks and/or Detecting Disease using Machine Learning. The findings from this review focus on commonly used machine learning approaches, challenges and future works to limit the spread of deadly disease outbreaks through preventions and detections.

    Iron (III) oxide, a stable semiconductor with versatile applications, was synthesized alongside Sn-doped Fe2O3 (Sn-Fe2O3) using the sol-gel technique. Characterization via X-ray diffraction, field-emission scanning electron microscopy, and UV-visible spectroscopy confirmed the presence of α- and γ-Fe2O3 phases in the synthesized powders. Incorporation of the dopant reduced the initial band gap energy of Fe2O3 (2.2 eV) by approximately 0.1 eV. To evaluate photocatalytic performance, Fe2O3 and Sn-Fe2O3 were tested for decolorization efficiency of a methyl orange solution. Results revealed the 5 wt% Sn-doped catalyst as optimal, achieving complete degradation of methyl orange within 120 min under simulated solar light. The addition of small amounts of Sn effectively reduced the Fe2O3 band gap and significantly enhanced photocatalytic performance. Investigation of pH and dye concentration impact on photocatalytic degradation revealed superior activity under acidic conditions compared to alkaline. Furthermore, maintaining a moderate concentration of methyl orange (10 ppm) ensured optimum photocatalytic activity.
