    In this paper, the application of the method of lines (MOL) to the Forced
    Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers equation with variable coefficient (FKdVB) is presented.
    The MOL is a powerful technique for solving partial differential equations by typically
    using finite-difference approximations for the spatial derivatives and ordinary differential
    equations (ODEs) for the time derivative. The MOL approach of the FKdVB
    equation leads to a system of ODEs. The solution of the system of ODEs is obtained
    by applying the Fourth-Order Runge-Kutta (RK4) method. The numerical solution
    obtained is then compared with its progressive wave solution in order to show the
    accuracy of the MOL method.

    A domination polynomial is a type of graph polynomial in which its coefficients represent the number of dominating sets in the graph. There are many researches being done on the domination polynomial of some common types of graphs but not yet for graphs associated to finite groups. Two types of graphs associated to finite groups are the conjugate graph and the conjugacy class graph. A graph of a group G is called a conjugate graph if the vertices are non-central elements of G and two distinct vertices are adjacent if they are conjugate to each other. Meanwhile, a conjugacy class graph of a group G is a graph in which its vertices are the non-central conjugacy classes of G and two distinct vertices are connected if and only if their class cardinalities are not coprime. The conjugate and conjugacy class graph of dihedral groups can be expressed generally as a union of complete graphs on some vertices. In this paper, the domination polynomials are computed for the conjugate and conjugacy class graphs of the dihedral groups.

    In this paper, the problem of forced convection flow of micropolar fluid of
    lighter density impinging orthogonally on another heavier density of micropolar fluid
    on a stretching surface is investigated. The boundary layer governing equations are
    transformed from partial differential equations into a system of nonlinear ordinary
    differential equations using similarity transformation and solved numerically using dsolve
    function in maple software version 2016. The velocity, microrotation and temperature of
    micropolar fluid are analyzed. It is found that both upper fluid and lower fluid display
    opposite behaviour when micropolar parameter k various with strong concentration
    n = 0, pr = 7 and stretching parameter = 0.5. The results also show that stretching
    surface exert the force that increasing the velocity of micropolar fluid.

    Rainfall is an interesting phenomenon to investigate since it is directly related
    to all aspects of life on earth. One of the important studies is to investigate and under-
    stand the rainfall patterns that occur throughout the year. To identify the pattern, it
    requires a rainfall curve to represent daily observation of rainfall received during the year.
    Functional data analysis methods are capable to convert discrete data intoa function that
    can represent the rainfall curve and as a result, try to describe the hidden patterns of the
    rainfall. This study focused on the distribution of daily rainfall amount using functional
    data analysis. Fourier basis functions are used for periodic rainfall data. Generalized
    cross-validation showed 123 basis functions were sufficient to describe the pattern of daily
    rainfall amount. North and west areas of the peninsula show a significant bimodal pattern
    with the curve decline between two peaks at the mid-year. Meanwhile,the east shows uni-
    modal patterns that reached a peak in the last three months. Southern areas show more
    uniform trends throughout the year. Finally, the functional spatial method is introduced
    to overcome the problem of estimating the rainfall curve in the locations with no data
    recorded. We use a leave one out cross-validation as a verification method to compare
    between the real curve and the predicted curve. We used coefficient of basis functions
    to get the predicted curve. It was foundthatthe methods ofspatial prediction can match
    up with theexistingspatialpredictionmethodsin terms of accuracy,but it isbetterasthe new
    approach provides a simpler calculation.

    This journal renders the random walk behaviour of the Malaysian daily share return, through tests of efficient market hypothesis (EMH) based on three different financial periods, namely growth, financial crisis, and recovery period. This review also covers the behaviour of extreme return for weekly and monthly series generated from Block maxima-minima method. Autocorrelation Function test (ACF) and Ljung-Box test had been employed to measure average correlation between observations, while Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF), Phillips-Perron (PP), Kwiatkowski Phillips Schmidt Shin (KPSS) test had been used to scan the unit root and the stationarity. Multiple variance ratio tests had also been conducted to examine the random walk behaviour. Serial correlation test indicated that the movement of daily return during the financial crisis period was weak-form efficiency. The unit root and stationary tests suggested that each daily series was stationary, but trend stationary for extreme cases. Variance ratio tests indicated that the return during the recovery period was weak-form inefficiency due to the short lag autocorrelation in series.

    Conjugate Gradient (CG) methods have an important role in solving large
    scale unconstrained optimization problems. Nowadays, the Three-Term CG method has
    become a research trend of the CG methods. However, the existing Three-Term CG
    methods could only be used with the inexact line search. When the exact line search
    is applied, this Three-Term CG method will be reduced to the standard CG method.
    Hence in this paper, a new Three-Term CG method that could be used with the exact
    line search is proposed. This new Three-Term CG method satisfies the descent condition
    using the exact line search. Performance profile based on numerical results show that
    this proposed method outperforms the well-known classical CG method and some related
    hybrid methods. In addition, the proposed method is also robust in term of number of
    iterations and CPU time.

    The well-known geostatistics method (variance-reduction method) is commonly used to determine the optimal rain gauge network. The main problem in geostatistics method to determine the best semivariogram model in order to be used in estimating the variance. An optimal choice of the semivariogram model is an important point for a good data evaluation process. Three different semivariogram models which are Spherical, Gaussian and Exponential are used and their performances are compared in this study. Cross validation technique is applied to compute the errors of the semivariograms. Rain-fall data for the period of 1975 – 2008 from the existing 84 rain gauge stations covering the state of Johor are used in this study. The result shows that the exponential model is the best semivariogram model and chosen to determine the optimal number and location of rain gauge station.

    Successful oil palm plantation should have high profit, clean and environmental friendly. Since oil palm trees have a long life and it takes years to be fully grown, controlling the felling rate of the oil palm trees is a fundamental challenge. It needs to be addressed in order to maximize oil production. However, a good arrangement of the felling of the oil palm trees may also affect the amount of carbon absorption. The objec- tive of this study is to develop an optimal felling model of the oil palm plantation system taking into account both oil production and carbon absorption. The model facilitates in providing the optimal control of felling rate that results in maximizing both oil produc- tion and carbon absorption. With this aim, the model is formulated considering oil palm biomass, carbon absorption rate, oil production rate and the average prices of carbon and oil palm. A set of real data is used to estimate the parameters of the model and numerical simulation is conducted to highlight the application of the proposed model. The resulting parameter estimation that leads to an optimal control of felling rate problem is solved.

    The constraint of two ordered extreme minima random variables when one
    variable is consider to be stochastically smaller than the other one has been carried
    out in this article. The quantile functions of the probability distribution have been
    used to establish partial ordering between the two variables. Some extensions and
    generalizations are given for the stochastic ordering using the important of sign of the
    shape parameter.

    The box plot has been used for a very long time since 70s in checking the existence
    of outliers and the asymmetrical shape of data. The existing box plot is constructed
    using five values of statistics calculated from either the discrete or continous data. Many
    improvement of box plots have deviated from the elegant and simplier approach of exploratory
    data analysis by incorporating many other statistic values resulting the turning
    back of the noble philosophy behind the creation of box plot. The modification using
    range value with the minimum and maximum values are being incorporated to suit the
    need of selected discrete distribution when outliers is not an important criteria anymore.
    The new modification of box plot is not based on the asymmetrical shape of distribution
    but more on the spreading and partitioning data into range measure. The new propose
    name for the box plot with only three values of statistics is called range-box plot.

    The three dimensional free convection boundary layer flow near a stagnation point region is embedded in viscous nanofluid with the effect of g-jitter is studied in this paper. Copper (Cu) and aluminium oxide (Al2O3) types of water base nanofluid are cho- sen with the constant Prandtl number, Pr=6.2. Based on Tiwari-Das nanofluid model, the boundary layer equation used is converted into a non-dimensional form by adopting non- dimensional variables and is solved numerically by engaging an implicit finite-difference scheme known as Keller-box method. Behaviors of fluid flow such as skin friction and Nusset number are studied by the controlled parameters including oscillation frequency, amplitude of gravity modulation and nanoparticles volume fraction. The reduced skin friction and Nusset number are presented graphically and discussed for different values of principal curvatures ratio at the nodal point. The numerical results shows that, in- crement occurs in the values of Nusset number with the presence of solid nanoparticles together with the values of the skin friction. It is worth mentioning that for the plane stagnation point there is an absence of reduced skin friction along the y-direction where as for axisymmetric stagnation point, the reduced skin friction for both directions are the same. As nanoparticles volume fraction increased, the skin friction increased as well as the Nusset number. The results, indicated that skin frictions of copper are found higher than aluminium oxide.

    Medical diagnosis is the extrapolation of the future course and outcome of a disease and a sign of the likelihood of recovery from that disease. Diagnosis is important because it is used to guide the type and intensity of the medication to be administered to patients. A hybrid intelligent system that combines the fuzzy logic qualitative approach and Adaptive Neural Networks (ANNs) with the capabilities of getting a better performance is required. In this paper, a method for modeling the survival of diabetes patient by utilizing the application of the Adaptive NeuroFuzzy Inference System (ANFIS) is introduced with the aim of turning data into knowledge that can be understood by people. The ANFIS approach implements the hybrid learning algorithm that combines the gradient descent algorithm and a recursive least square error algorithm to update the antecedent and consequent parameters. The combination of fuzzy inference that will represent knowledge in an interpretable manner and the learning ability of neural network that can adjust the membership functions of the parameters and linguistic rules from data will be considered. The proposed framework can be applied to estimate the risk and survival curve between different diagnostic factors and survival time with the explanation capabilities.

    Numerous studies have linked biodiversity with zoonotic disease control. However, researchers have warned against simply believing that the increase in biodiversity can reduce the infection disease in the community. They proposed that amplification effect (increase in biodiversity accompanied by an increase in disease prevalence) might sometimes occur. Thus, we formulated a deterministic model to consider the impact of an amplification or dilution agent on the SNV transmission in the deer mouse population. Bifurcation analysis was carried out to examine the combined influences of the environmental carrying capacity, the interspecific competition strength and the impact of amplification or dilution agent on the deer mouse population. Our results showed that the system with amplification agent required a higher carrying capacity or stronger interspecific strength to compensate for its amplification effect in suppressing the SNV prevalence; this situation explains the lack of reduction in SNV prevalence despite the presence of high biodiversity in some empirical studies. In this study, we highlight the importance of investigating the roles of the additional species in an assemblage to better understand their relationship with the SNV prevalence in deer mouse population.

    The effect of oil shock on the global economy is evident through many studies. However, the effect is heterogeneous over time. One of the reasons that lead to such different impacts is due to the oil source that is either the oil shock is demand or supply- driven. Applying the structural vector autoregressive (SVAR) model to generate the three oil shocks based on the three oil sources (oil supply, oil demand and oil specific- demand), we extended the examination on the effect of oil shock on the global economy using the threshold regression. Our results reveal the threshold effects of oil directly and indirectly on the global economy. The impacts of oil shocks differ across sectors, implying oil intensity, as well as oil sources, are the factors that determine the impact of oil shocks on the global economy. Overall, the oil specific-demand shock is more influential among the three oil shocks. Hence, the global economy is oil demand-driven. Besides that, the impact of oil is relatively large in the energy sector when compared to the non-energy sector and precious metals industry. Despite that, the impact of oil shocks is small if compared to the non-oil shocks such as exchange rate changes and global consumer price inflation shock. Consequently, non-oil shocks are the main determinants of the global economic fluctuation. The study leads to a better understanding of the transmission of oil shock and its sources, the interaction between oil and economic indicators and the policy implication due to oil dependency/ intensity.

    Prediction analysis has drawn significant interest in numerous field. Taguchi’s T-Method is a prediction tool that developed practically but not limited to small sample analysis. It was developed explicitly for multidimensional system prediction by relying on historical data as the baseline model and adapting the signal to noise ratio (SNR) as well as zero proportional concepts in strengthening its robustness. Orthogonal array (OA) in T-Method is a variable selection optimization technique in improving the prediction accuracy as well as help in eliminating variables that may deteriorate the overall performance. However, the limitation of OA in dealing with higher multidimensionality restraint the optimization accuracy. Binary particle swarm optimization used in this study helps to cater to the limitation of OA as well as optimizing the variable selection process to better prediction accuracy. The results show that if the historical data consist of samples with higher correlation of determination (R2) value for the model creation, the optimization process in reducing the number of variables would be much reliable and accurate. Comparing between T-Method+OA and T-Method+BPSO in four different case study, it shows that T-Method+BPSO performing better with greater R2 and means relative error (MRE) value compared to T-Method+OA.

    Optimization is central to any problem involving decision making. The area
    of optimization has received enormous attention for over 30 years and it is still popular
    in research field to this day. In this paper, a global optimization method called Improved
    Homotopy with 2-Step Predictor-corrector Method will be introduced. The method in-
    troduced is able to identify all local solutions by converting non-convex optimization
    problems into piece-wise convex optimization problems. A mechanism which only consid-
    ers the convex part where minimizers existed on a function is applied. This mechanism
    allows the method to filter out concave parts and some unrelated parts automatically.
    The identified convex parts are called trusted intervals. The descent property and the
    global convergence of the method was shown in this paper. 15 test problems have been
    used to show the ability of the algorithm proposed in locating global minimizer.

    In this paper we consider a harvesting model of predator-prey fishery in which
    the prey is directly infected by some external toxic substances. The toxic infection is
    indirectly transmitted to the predator during the feeding process. The model is a modified
    version from the classic Lotka-Volterra predator-prey model. The stability and bifurcation
    analyses are addressed. Numerical simulations of the model are performed and bifurcation
    diagrams are studied to investigate the dynamical behaviours between the predator and
    the prey. The effects of toxicity and harvesting on the stability of steady states found in
    the model are discussed.

    In this paper, Maxwell fluid over a flat plate for convective boundary layer
    flow with pressure gradient parameter is considered. The aim of this study is to compare
    and analyze the effects of the presence and absence of λ (relaxation time), and also the
    effects of m (pressure gradient parameter) and Pr (Prandtl number)on the momentum
    and thermal boundary layer thicknesses. An approximation technique namely Homotopy
    Perturbation Method (HPM) has been used with an implementation of Adam and Gear
    Method’s algorithms. The obtained results have been compared for zero relaxation time
    and also pressure gradient parameter with the published work of Fathizadeh and Rashidi.
    The current outcomes are found to be in good agreement with the published results.
    Physical interpretations have been given for the effects of the m, Pr and β (Deborah
    number) with λ. This study will play an important role in industrial and engineering
    applications.

    The selection criteria play an important role in the portfolio optimization
    using any ratio model. In this paper, the authors have considered the mean return as
    profit and variance of return as risk on the asset return as selection criteria, as the first
    stage to optimize the selected portfolio. Furthermore, the sharp ratio (SR) has been
    considered to be the optimization ratio model. In this regard, the historical data taken
    from Shanghai Stock Exchange (SSE) has been considered. A metaheuristic technique
    has been developed, with financial tool box available in MATLAB and the particle swarm
    optimization (PSO) algorithm. Hence, called as the hybrid particle swarm optimization
    (HPSO) or can also be called as financial tool box particle swarm optimization (FTBPSO).
    In this model, the budgets as constraint, where as two different models i.e. with
    and without short sale, have been considered. The obtained results have been compared
    with the existing literature and the proposed technique is found to be optimum and better
    in terms of profit.
