    An 18-year-old Malay gentleman was noted to have profound bilateral blurred vision for one month duration, associated with loss of weight, appetite, low grade fever and abdominal distension. Visual acuity on presentation was 6/60 on the right, counting finger on the left with no afferent pupillary defect. Anterior segments were unremarkable. Vitreous cells were occasional bilaterally. Fundus revealed multiple choroidal and sub-retinal Roth spots with areas of pre-retinal and intra-retinal haemorrhages, involving the macula in the left eye. Vessels were dilated and tortuous in all quadrants of the right eye. Many areas of capillary fall out at peripheral retina were demonstrated in fundus fluorescein angiogram. Further systemic and laboratory review confirmed the diagnosis of CML and chemotherapy was initiated. Both eye ischaemic retinopathy secondary to CML was confirmed and scatter pan retinal photocoagulation was performed bilaterally. Good improvement in vision noted during subsequent follow up to 6/24 on the right, 6/60 on the left. High levels of suspicion and accurate early recognition of fundus changes are vital in these types of cases to ensure the institution of prompt treatment.

    A 21-year-old Chinese gentleman with no known medical illness, presented with a history of right painless blurring of vision with central scotoma of two weeks duration. He also had a history of multiple episodes of seizures prior to presentation. Visual acuity was 1/60 with unremarkable anterior segment findings and no relative afferent pupillary defect. Fundus examination of the right eye revealed dilated and tortuous retinal veins with multiple retinal capillary hemangiomas and sub retinal hard exudates at the macula with edema. A diagnosis of Von Hippel Lindau disease was made when a posterior fossa mass suggestive of hemangioblastoma with obstructive hydrocephalus was seen on computed tomography of the brain. Craniotomy with nodule excision was performed. The retinal capillary hemangiomas were treated with the combination of laser photocoagulation and intravitreal Ranibizumab injections. Visual acuity subsequently improved to 6/36.

    Zoonotic tuberculosis caused by Mycobacterium bovis (M. bovis), a member of Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex (MTBC) has increasingly gathered attention as a public health risk, particularly in developing countries with higher disease prevalence. M. bovis is capable of infecting multiple hosts encompassing a number of domestic animals, in particular cattle as well as a broad range of wildlife reservoirs. Humans are the incidental hosts of M. bovis whereby its transmission to humans is primarily through the consumption of cattle products such as unpasteurized milk or raw meat products that have been contaminated with M. bovis or the transmission could be due to close contact with infected cattle. Also, the transmission could occur through aerosol inhalation of infective droplets or infected body fluids or tissues in the presence of wound from infected animals. The zoonotic risk of M. bovis in humans exemplified by miscellaneous studies across different countries suggested the risk of occupational exposure towards M. bovis infection, especially those animal handlers that have close and unreserved contact with cattle and wildlife populations These animal handlers comprising of livestock farmers, abattoir workers, veterinarians and their assistants, hunters, wildlife workers as well as other animal handlers are at different risk of contracting M. bovis infection, depending on the nature of their jobs and how close is their interaction with infected animals. It is crucial to identify the underlying transmission risk factors and probable transmission pathways involved in the zoonotic transmission of M. bovis from animals to humans for better designation and development of specific preventive measures and guidelines that could reduce the risk of transmission and to protect these different occupational-related/populations at risk. Effective control and disease management of zoonotic tuberculosis caused by M. bovis in humans are also hindered by various challenges and factors involved at animal-human interface. A closer look into factors affecting proper disease control and management of M. bovis are therefore warranted. Hence, in this narrative review, we have gathered a number of different studies to highlight the risk of occupational exposure to M. bovis infection and addressed the limitations and challenges underlying this context. This review also shed lights on various components and approaches in tackling M. bovis infection at animal-human interface.

    Single-cell analysis (SCA) improves the detection of cancer, the immune system, and chronic diseases from complicated biological processes. SCA techniques generate high-dimensional, innovative, and complex data, making traditional analysis difficult and impractical. In the different cell types, conventional cell sequencing methods have signal transformation and disease detection limitations. To overcome these challenges, various deep learning techniques (DL) have outperformed standard state-of-the-art computer algorithms in SCA techniques. This review discusses DL application in SCA and presents a detailed study on improving SCA data processing and analysis. Firstly, we introduced fundamental concepts and critical points of cell analysis techniques, which illustrate the application of SCA. Secondly, various effective DL strategies apply to SCA to analyze data and provide significant results from complex data sources. Finally, we explored DL as a future direction in SCA and highlighted new challenges and opportunities for the rapidly evolving field of single-cell omics.

    This article presents a comprehensive dataset extracted from published annual, sustainability and integrated reports, focusing on environmental (GRI300) and social (GRI400) disclosures, for the top 100 Malaysian public listed companies (based on Market Capitalization as of 31 December 2016). The dataset covers three years (2018 to 2020) with 300 firm-year observations. Environmental and Social disclosure scores were calculated using the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework and derived from the content analysis of the companies' reports accessed from respective corporate or Bursa Malaysia's websites. A binary scoring method (one for disclosure or zero, otherwise for each environmental and social disclosure item) was employed. This scoring process underwent three stages of rigorous manual verification protocol: initial check and scoring by research assistants, review by the research team, and a final review by an independent external accounting firm for validation. This dataset is valuable for academics, practitioners, and policymakers to evaluate corporate alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) #12, encouraging Responsible Consumption and Production, and shape strategic policies to meet Bursa compliance for enhanced corporate sustainability. It further aids in investigating associations between governance factors and other firm characteristics with environmental and social disclosures.

    BACKGROUND: Achieving soft tissue balance is challenging in valgus arthritic knee because of a combination of anomalies in the soft tissues and bones. It has been stipulated that contemporary robotic systems are more precise than traditional instrumentation. Its advantage lies in the soft tissue algorithms. Presently, there is paucity of information on the use of robotic-assisted TKA in addressing moderate and severe valgus deformities. The aim of this series is to demonstrate the utility of robotic-assisted surgery in TKA for arthritic knees with moderate and severe valgus deformities, including accuracy, soft tissue releases performed and level of constraint required.

    METHODS: This is a single surgeon series of 14 cases of moderate and severe valgus osteoarthritic knees who underwent robotic-assisted TKA, utilizing the robotic surgical assistant ROSA® System.

    RESULTS: All patients were restored to within 3° of the planned alignment. 8 patients were implanted with cruciate retaining implants, 2 had ultracongruent implants, 3 had posterior stabilized implants, and 1 had a constrained posterior stabilized implant. No patients required release of the popliteus tendon or origin of the lateral collateral ligament. No perioperative complications were encountered in all cases. All patients reported an improvement in the Forgotten Joint Score of > 10.8 at 1year follow up with a 100% satisfaction rate.

    CONCLUSION: In this case series, the utilization of robotic assisted the surgeon to achieve a final limb alignment to within 3° of the planned alignment with minimal use of constrained prostheses and good patient-reported outcomes in moderate and severe valgus deformities.
