METHODS: A total of 547 ankles from 406 patients underwent surgery for LAI between 2019 and 2022. If ligament fibers remained in US images, they were evaluated as positive. If the ligament was not visualized, it was evaluated as negative. Two observers performed repeated measurements. Arthroscopic findings were considered the "gold standard" for validity and diagnostic test accuracy purposes. The intra- and interobserver agreements and parameters for diagnostic accuracy, including sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), and negative predictive value (NPV) of preoperative US imaging as intraoperative arthroscopic findings were used as reference standards.
RESULTS: The intraobserver agreement was substantial, with an agreement of 98.54% and a kappa coefficient of 0.76. The interobserver agreement was also substantial, with an agreement of 98.72% and a kappa coefficient of 0.75. The sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of preoperative US imaging were 98.7%, 100%, and 98.7%, respectively. The PPV and NPV of US imaging were 100% and 61.1%, respectively. In the arthroscopic evaluation of the 7 cases in which US imaging showed false negative results, the ATFL ruptured at the fibular attachment and ran in contact with the talus.
CONCLUSION: A US examination finding of an intact ATFL is highly likely to be correct. An US examination finding of a ruptured ATFL can be false and may require arthroscopic confirmation.
Methods: The sample of current cross-sectional study includes 212 patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) in Iran evaluated from Jan to Jun 2017. The required data were gathered using Beck's Depression Inventory (BDI) questionnaire, Buss and Perry's Aggression Questionnaire (BPAQ), and Hudson's Marital Satisfaction Index (HMSI). The data were analysed using Pearson's correlation coefficient and structural equation modeling (SEM) using SPSS20 and AMOS software.
Results: The mean age of participants (68.4% male) was 58.5 ± 8.9. The results show that there is a significant positive relationship between all the variables (P < 0.05). The results of the model show that marital stress cannot directly predict depression (P = 0.586). However, through aggression, marital stress can significantly predict 18% of the variance of depression (P < 0.001).
Conclusions: Not directly, but indirectly through aggression, marital stress can significantly predict increased depression among patients with CAD. The physiological and psychological pathways of the findings can be discussed.
Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted in Kuala Lumpur Hospital, Malaysia. Data were collected from November 2014 to January 2015 with a total of 58 respondents who met the inclusion criteria. The respondents received a 20-min one-on-one education programme regarding coronary heart disease, treatment and prevention, and healthy lifestyle. A questionnaire comprising demographic data was administered and the cardiovascular health index was measured before and after four weeks of the education programme. Data were analysed with descriptive and inferential statistics.
Results: There were statistically significant decreases in the score of anxiety, stress, depression, body mass index, and smoking status (P < 0.001) between pre-test and post-test.
Conclusion: The findings suggest that the one-on-one education programme could improve the cardiovascular health index of patients with MI. Furthermore, nurses need to develop and implement a standard education structure programme for patients with MI to improve health outcomes.
Objectives: Brain volume reduction occurs with age, especially in Parkinson plus syndrome or psychiatric disorders. We searched to define the degree of volume discrepancy in advanced IPD patients and correlate the anatomical volumetric changes to motor symptoms and cognitive function.
Methods: We determined the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI)-based volumetry of deep brain nuclei and brain structures of DBS-IPD group and matched controls.
Results: DBS-IPD group had significant deep nuclei atrophy and volume discrepancy, yet none had cognitive or psychobehavioural disturbances. Globus pallidus volume showed positive correlation to higher mental function.
Conclusion: The morphometric changes and clinical severity discrepancy in IPD may imply a more complex degenerative mechanism involving multiple neural pathways. Such alteration could be early changes before clinical manifestation.
Methods: The respondents were conveniently selected among visitors attending an outpatient clinic in a tertiary hospital. We excluded those with any cancers, chronic diseases and those that were illiterate. The exploratory factor and reliability analyses were conducted.
Results: A total of 108 respondents were recruited of which 67.7% were males and the mean age was 54.59 years (standard deviation 8.93). The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin (KMO) measure of sampling adequacy values for KAP were 0.64, 0.66 and 0.67, respectively (P < 0.001). The 17 items of knowledge formed five domains with loading factors ranging from 0.54-0.89. The six items of attitude formed two domains with loading factors ranging from 0.64-0.80 and the 15 practices had four domains with loading factors ranging from 0.52-0.83. The total variances explained for each KAP were 61.02%, 56.41% and 53.12%, respectively. The internal consistency Cronbach alpha values on KAP were 0.61, 0.60 and 0.70, respectively.
Conclusion: The final questionnaire is suitable for measuring KAP related to CRC among the Malay population.
