    Drought is considered one of the costliest natural disasters that result in water scarcity and crop damage almost every year. Drought monitoring and forecasting are essential for the efficient management of water resources and sustainability in agriculture. However, the design of a consistent drought prediction model based on the dynamic relationship of the drought index with its antecedent values remains a challenging task. In the present research, the SVR (support vector regression) model was hybridized with two different optimization algorithms namely; Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) and Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) for reliable prediction of effective drought index (EDI) 1 month ahead, at different locations of Uttarakhand State of India. The inputs of the models were selected through partial autocorrelation function (PACF) analysis. The output produced by the SVR-HHO and SVR-PSO models was compared with the EDI estimated from observed data using five statistical indicators, i.e., RMSE (Root Mean Square Error), MAE (Mean Absolute Error), COC (Coefficient of Correlation), NSE (Nash-Sutcliffe Efficiency), WI (Willmott Index), and graphical inspection of radar-chart, time-variation plot, box-whisker plot, and Taylor diagram. Appraisal of results indicates that the SVR-HHO model (RMSE = 0.535-0.965, MAE = 0.363-0.622, NSE = 0.558-0.860, COC = 0.760-0.930, and WI = 0.862-0.959) outperformed the SVR-PSO model (RMSE = 0.546-0.967, MAE = 0.372-0.625, NSE = 0.556-0.855, COC = 0.758-0.929, and WI = 0.861-0.956) in predicting EDI. Visual inspection of model performances also showed a better performance of SVR-HHO compared to SVR-PSO in replicating the median, inter-quartile range, spread, and pattern of the EDI estimated from observed rainfall. The results indicate that the hybrid SVR-HHO approach can be utilized for reliable EDI predictions in the study area.

    The evolution of internal compressive stress from the intermetallic compound (IMC) Cu6Sn5 growth is commonly acknowledged as the key inducement initiating the nucleation and growth of tin (Sn) whisker. This study investigates the effect of Sn-0.7Cu-0.05Ni on the nucleation and growth of Sn whisker under continuous mechanical stress induced. The Sn-0.7Cu-0.05Ni solder joint has a noticeable effect of suppression by diminishing the susceptibility of nucleation and growth of Sn whisker. By using a synchrotron micro X-ray fluorescence (µ-XRF) spectroscopy, it was found that a small amount of Ni alters the microstructure of Cu6Sn5 to form a (Cu,Ni)6Sn5 intermetallic layer. The morphology structure of the (Cu,Ni)6Sn5 interfacial intermetallic layer and Sn whisker growth were investigated by scanning electron microscope (SEM) in secondary and backscattered electron imaging mode, which showed that there is a strong correlation between the formation of Sn whisker and the composition of solder alloy. The thickness of the (Cu,Ni)6Sn5 IMC interfacial layer was relatively thinner and more refined, with a continuous fine scallop-shaped IMC interfacial layer, and consequently enhanced a greater incubation period for the nucleation and growth of the Sn whisker. These verification outcomes proposes a scientifically foundation to mitigate Sn whisker growth in lead-free solder joint.

    Orthosiphon stamineus (OS) or Orthosiphon aristatus var. aristatus (OAA) is commonly known as cat's whiskers or "misai kucing". It is an herbaceous shrub that is popular in many different traditional and complementary medicinal systems. Its popularity has been justified by the plethora of studies that have shown that the secondary metabolites of the plant has effects that range from anti-inflammatory and gastroprotective to anorexic and antihypertensive. As such, OS could also be a potential treatment for Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders. However, a cohesive synthesis of the protective actions of OS was lacking. This systematic review was therefore commenced to elaborate on the various protective mechanisms of OS in the CNS. The PRISMA model was used and five databases (Google Scholar, SCOPUS, SpringerLink, ScienceDirect, and PubMed) were searched with relevant keywords to finally identify four articles that met the inclusion criteria. The articles described the protective effects of OS extracts on Alzheimer's disease, epilepsy, learning and memory, oxidative stress, and neurotoxicity. All the articles found were experimental or preclinical studies on animal models or in vitro systems. The reported activities demonstrated that OS could be a potential neuroprotective agent and might improve CNS conditions like neurodegeneration, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress.

    Cat's whiskers (Orthosiphon stamineus) leaves extracts were prepared using supercritical CO2 (SC-CO2) with full factorial design to determine the optimum extraction parameters. Nine extracts were obtained by varying pressure, temperature, and time. The extracts were analysed using FTIR, UV-Vis, and GC-MS. Cytotoxicity of the extracts was evaluated on human (colorectal, breast, and prostate) cancer and normal fibroblast cells. Moderate pressure (31.1 MPa) and temperature (60°C) were recorded as optimum extraction conditions with high yield (1.74%) of the extract (B2) at 60 min extraction time. The optimized extract (B2) displayed selective cytotoxicity against prostate cancer (PC3) cells (IC50 28 µg/mL) and significant antioxidant activity (IC50 42.8 µg/mL). Elevated levels of caspases 3/7 and 9 in B2-treated PC3 cells suggest the induction of apoptosis through nuclear and mitochondrial pathways. Hoechst and rhodamine assays confirmed the nuclear condensation and disruption of mitochondrial membrane potential in the cells. B2 also demonstrated inhibitory effects on motility and colonies of PC3 cells at its subcytotoxic concentrations. It is noteworthy that B2 displayed negligible toxicity against the normal cells. Chemometric analysis revealed high content of essential oils, hydrocarbon, fatty acids, esters, and aromatic sesquiterpenes in B2. This study highlights the therapeutic potentials of SC-CO2 extract of cat's whiskers in targeting prostate carcinoma.
