    The finest sources of therapeutic agents are natural products, and usnic acid is a secondary metabolite derived from lichen that has a wide range of biological actions, including anti-viral, anti-cancer, anti-bacterial, and anti-diabetic (hyperglycemia). Based on the hyperglycemia activity of UA, this work seeks to identify new anti-hyperglycemia medicines by virtual screening of pyrazole derivatives of UA. Seven hit compounds (Compounds 1, 5, 6, 7, 17, 18 and 33), which finally go through docking-based screening to produce the lead molecule, were identified by the physicochemical attributes, drug-likeliness, and ADMET prediction. The docking score for the chosen compounds containing PPARγ agonists ranged from -7.6 to -9.2 kcal/mol, whereas the docking goal for compounds 5, 6, and 7 was -9.2 kcal/mol. Based on the binding energy and bound amino acid residues as well as compared to the reference compound, compound-6 considered as lead compound. Furthermore, the MD simulation of 3CS8-Compound-6 and 3CS8-Rosiglitazone complexes were performed to verify the stability of these complexes and the binding posture acquired in docking experiments. The compound-6 had strong pharmacological characteristics, bound to the PPARγ agonist active site, and was expected to reduce the activity of the receptor, according to the virtual screening results. It must be justified to conduct both in-vitro and in-vivo experiments to examine the efficacy of this compound.

    Oxide perovskites (OPs) have emerged as promising photocatalysts for numerous applications, such as energy conversion, renewable fuels, and environmental remediation. Although OPs are gaining traction, their efficacies are still hindered by low charge carrier mobility and poor stability. This study investigated the function of polymers actively participating in OP structures to improve the overall characteristics. An overview of the polymer-enhanced perovskite oxide photocatalyst (PEPOP) field was effectively reviewed. These PEPOPs were demonstrated in photovoltaics, pollutant degradation, and gas conversion and reduction. Nonetheless, additional research is needed to explore the potential of PEPOPs to establish their efficacy in photocatalytic applications. The technological improvements of PEPOPs were hindered by significant challenges related to stability and sensitivity. The urgency of this review was apparent due to the fast-paced nature of research in the field of photocatalysis. Recent breakthroughs and emerging applications highlight the need for a comprehensive overview of PEPOPs and their enhanced catalytic capabilities. Consequently, a broad outlook was provided for the current state of PEPOP-related studies, highlighting the potential of these materials for future applications.

    PURPOSE: Accepting and adapting to the child's diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) can be challenging for parents. We aimed to assess domains of parental adjustment namely despair, self-blame, and acceptance among parents whose children were diagnosed with ASD.

    METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted among 111 parents of children with autism who attended Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Unit (CAPU), in a university teaching hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Sociodemographic profiles of both parents and children were gathered. Parental adjustment focusing on parental self-blame, despair and acceptance were assessed using self-reported questionnaires namely Adjustment to the Diagnosis of Autism (ADA).

    RESULTS: Higher level of despair was associated with parents who have medical illness (β = 0.214, p = 0.016) and children who received antipsychotic medications (β = 0.329, p

    As we progress deeper into the digital age, the robust development and application of advanced artificial intelligence (AI) technology, specifically generative language models like ChatGPT (OpenAI), have potential implications in all sectors including medicine. This viewpoint article aims to present the authors' perspective on the integration of AI models such as ChatGPT in clinical medicine and medical education. The unprecedented capacity of ChatGPT to generate human-like responses, refined through Reinforcement Learning with Human Feedback, could significantly reshape the pedagogical methodologies within medical education. Through a comprehensive review and the authors' personal experiences, this viewpoint article elucidates the pros, cons, and ethical considerations of using ChatGPT within clinical medicine and notably, its implications for medical education. This exploration is crucial in a transformative era where AI could potentially augment human capability in the process of knowledge creation and dissemination, potentially revolutionizing medical education and clinical practice. The importance of maintaining academic integrity and professional standards is highlighted. The relevance of establishing clear guidelines for the responsible and ethical use of AI technologies in clinical medicine and medical education is also emphasized.

    AIMS: Through an in-depth study of Qatari culture, to explore the application of the essence of the unique national culture to World Cup creative design, and to provide new ideas and reference design framework and ideas for the integration of culture and World Cup creative design.

    METHOD: Carry out design practice with Qatari culture, and discuss in detail the specific strategy of integrating national culture into the cultural and creative design of the World Cup. First, conduct user interviews based on grounded theory to collect and evaluate demand indicators and establish a hierarchical model, and then use the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP) to analyze user needs, construct design elements for the World Cup cultural and creative design, and calculate the weight of each design element to determine the design Ordering among elements. Finally, the optimal scheme is selected by scoring the scheme through fuzzy comprehensive evaluation method (FCE), so as to determine the final design scheme of the product.

    CONCLUSION: The article explores the specific practice method of integrating culture and design, and provides a solution reference for how to integrate excellent national culture into the World Cup cultural and creative design, which not only improves the cultural and spiritual connotation of the product, but also effectively realises the heritage and innovation of culture.

    BACKGROUND: The well-being and adaptive functioning of patients with cancer depend on their perception of social support. To accurately assess and understand the impact of social support in a diverse population, validated measurement tools are essential. This study aimed to adapt and validate the Malay version of the Multidimensional Scale of Perceived Social Support (MSPSS-M) among patients with cancer in Malaysia.

    METHODS: A total of 346 cancer patients with mixed disease types were recruited and completed the socio-demographic and clinical characteristics questionnaire and the MSPSS-M. The MSPSS-M was assessed for internal consistency, construct validity, face, content, convergent, discriminant validity, and confirmatory factor analyses.

    RESULTS: The MSPSS-M and its three domains demonstrated good internal consistency with Cronbach's α ranging from 0.900 to 0.932. Confirmatory factor analysis (CFA) of the MSPSS-M supported the three-factor model of the original English version of the MSPSS. The MSPSS-M also exhibited good convergent validity and discriminant validity.

    CONCLUSION: The MSPSS-M demonstrates favorable psychometric properties among patients with cancer in Malaysia. The validation of the MSPSS-M provides a culturally adapted and linguistically valid instrument to assess perceived social support among Malay-speaking patients with cancer in Malaysia.

    Dual practice within public hospitals, characterised by the concurrent provision of public and private healthcare services within public hospitals, has become a widespread phenomenon. With the participation of selected public hospitals, dual practice within public hospitals, also known as Full Paying Patient services, was an initiative the Ministry of Health Malaysia took in 2007 to retain senior specialist physicians in Malaysia. The revenue generated from the Full Paying Patient services aims to provide an avenue for public sector specialists to supplement their incomes while alleviating the Government's burden of subsidising healthcare for financially capable individuals. However, the effectiveness of Full Paying Patient services in recouping service delivery costs and yielding a profit is still uncertain after 16 years of implementation. This study is designed to evaluate the impact of Full Paying Patient inpatient services volume, revenue, and cost on profit versus loss at selected hospitals from 2017 to 2020. From the perspective of healthcare providers, we plan to perform a cost volume profit analysis. This analysis enables us to determine the break-even point, at which total revenues match total costs, along with no-loss and no-profit thresholds for Full Paying Patient services. This study has the potential to provide insights into how variations in service volume, cost, and pricing impact healthcare providers' profitability. It also offers critical financial information regarding the volume of services required to reach the break-even point. A comprehensive understanding of service volume, cost and pricing is imperative for making informed decisions to fulfil the objectives and ensure the sustainability of the FPP services.

    BACKGROUND: The early detection of high-grade prostate cancer (HGPCa) is of great importance. However, the current detection strategies result in a high rate of negative biopsies and high medical costs. In this study, the authors aimed to establish an Asian Prostate Cancer Artificial intelligence (APCA) score with no extra cost other than routine health check-ups to predict the risk of HGPCa.

    PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 7476 patients with routine health check-up data who underwent prostate biopsies from January 2008 to December 2021 in eight referral centres in Asia were screened. After data pre-processing and cleaning, 5037 patients and 117 features were analyzed. Seven AI-based algorithms were tested for feature selection and seven AI-based algorithms were tested for classification, with the best combination applied for model construction. The APAC score was established in the CH cohort and validated in a multi-centre cohort and in each validation cohort to evaluate its generalizability in different Asian regions. The performance of the models was evaluated using area under the receiver operating characteristic curve (ROC), calibration plot, and decision curve analyses.

    RESULTS: Eighteen features were involved in the APCA score predicting HGPCa, with some of these markers not previously used in prostate cancer diagnosis. The area under the curve (AUC) was 0.76 (95% CI:0.74-0.78) in the multi-centre validation cohort and the increment of AUC (APCA vs. PSA) was 0.16 (95% CI:0.13-0.20). The calibration plots yielded a high degree of coherence and the decision curve analysis yielded a higher net clinical benefit. Applying the APCA score could reduce unnecessary biopsies by 20.2% and 38.4%, at the risk of missing 5.0% and 10.0% of HGPCa cases in the multi-centre validation cohort, respectively.

    CONCLUSIONS: The APCA score based on routine health check-ups could reduce unnecessary prostate biopsies without additional examinations in Asian populations. Further prospective population-based studies are warranted to confirm these results.

    The benefits of isometric strengthening exercises (ISEs) are compromised when patient teaching on ISEs is delayed and/or ineffectively delivered due to healthcare resources constraint, especially when health resources are stretched, as occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aims to examine the effect of a video-assisted ISE program on pain and muscle strength of patients following surgical stabilization of lower limb fracture. A quasi-experimental study with repeated measures was employed. Primary study outcomes were assessed using the Brief Pain Inventory and Manual Muscle Test. Effects over time were analyzed using generalized estimating equations. In comparison with usual care group (n = 32), the intervention group (n = 33) showed better pain reduction over time (p < .001, effect size [ES] = 0.39-1.77) and muscle strength preservation (p < .05; ES = 0.8-0.9). Patient acceptance of the intervention was favorable. Integration of video clips into patient teaching on ISEs is potentially beneficial in managing pain and muscle strength; it can be easily deployed to aid early ISE initiation.

    INTRODUCTION: Nutrition education is the cornerstone to maintain optimal pregnancy outcomes including gestational weight gain (GWG). Nevertheless, default for appointments is common and often lead to suboptimal achievement of GWG, accompanied with unfavourable maternal and child health outcomes. While mobile health (mHealth) usage is increasing and helps minimising barriers to clinic appointments among pregnant mothers, its effectiveness on health outcomes has been inconclusive. Therefore, this study aimed to address the gap between current knowledge and clinical care, by exploring the effectiveness of mHealth on GWG as the primary outcome, hoping to serve as a fundamental work to achieve optimal health outcomes with the improvement of secondary outcomes such as physical activity, psychosocial well-being, dietary intake, quality of life and sleep quality among pregnant mothers.

    METHODS AND ANALYSIS: A total of 294 eligible participants will be recruited and allocated into 3 groups comprising of mHealth intervention alone, mHealth intervention integrated with personal medical nutrition therapy and a control group. Pretested structured questionnaires are used to obtain the respondents' personal information, anthropometry data, prenatal knowledge, physical activity, psychosocial well-being, dietary intake, quality of life, sleep quality and GWG. There will be at least three time points of data collection, with all participants recruited during their first or second trimester will be followed up prospectively (after 3 months or/and after 6 months) until delivery. Generalised linear mixed models will be used to compare the mean changes of outcome measures over the entire study period between the three groups.

    ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Ethical approvals were obtained from the ethics committee of human subjects research of Universiti Putra Malaysia (JKEUPM-2022-072) and medical research & ethics committee, Ministry of Health Malaysia: NMRR ID-22-00622-EPU(IIR). The results will be disseminated through journals and conferences targeting stakeholders involved in nutrition research.

    INTRODUCTION: Countries are grappling with a rapidly worsening upsurge in the opioid-related overdose deaths, misuse and abuse. There is a dearth of data in Pakistan regarding the practices and competencies of pharmacists in handling opioid-related issues.

    STUDY DESIGN: A cross-sectional study, conducted across Punjab, Pakistan.

    METHOD: The study deployed a validated survey to evaluate the competencies and practices of the community and hospital pharmacists.

    RESULTS: 504 community pharmacists and 279 hospital pharmacists participated in the survey with an overall response rate of 85.5%. Almost half of the respondents 'never' or 'sometimes' made clinical notes in a journal or dispensing software to monitor ongoing opioid use. Generally, pharmacists were reluctant to collaborate with physicians or notify police regarding the abuse/misuse of opioids. Hospital pharmacists achieved significantly higher mean competency scores than chain and independent community pharmacists (p<0.05). In competency evaluation, three priority areas emerged that require additional training, that is, 'opioid overdose management', 'opioid use monitoring' and 'therapeutic uses of opioids'.

    CONCLUSION: Both community and hospital pharmacists hold significant positions and potential to contribute meaningfully to the mitigation of harms and risks associated with opioids. Nevertheless, this study underscores notable deficiencies in the competence of pharmacists, whether in hospital or community settings in Punjab, concerning various aspects related to the dispensing and utilisation of opioids. It also highlights the pressing need for the development of strategies aimed at improving several practice areas including the documentation, the quality of patient counselling, the effectiveness of reporting mechanisms for opioid abuse and the stringent enforcement of regulatory policies to curtail opioid misuse. Thus, to mitigate the opioid epidemic in Pakistan, it is imperative to institute opioid stewardship initiatives aimed at rectifying the competency and procedural deficiencies within the pharmacist workforce.

    OBJECTIVE: To explore patients' experiences accessing healthcare for obesity and their perceived behaviour changes following the care.

    DESIGN: Using a descriptive qualitative research approach informed by Levesque's framework of access to healthcare, we conducted phone interviews in the Malaysian language, which were audio-recorded and transcribed verbatim. Data were analysed inductively using a reflexive thematic analysis approach.

    SETTING: Primary care clinics in five states in Peninsular Malaysia.

    PARTICIPANTS: Adult patients with obesity receiving face-to-face care for obesity from healthcare providers in Peninsular Malaysia.

    RESULTS: We interviewed 22 participants aged 24-62, with the majority being female (77%), Malay (95%), married (73%) and with tertiary education (82%). Most participants attended obesity management services at public primary care clinics. We identified five themes: (1) moving from perceiving the need to seeking obesity care is a non-linear process for patients, (2) providers' words can inspire patients to change, (3) patients' needs and preferences are not adequately addressed in current obesity care, (4) over-focusing on weight by patients and healthcare providers can lead to self-blame and loss of hope for patients and (5) obesity healthcare can have consequences beyond weight loss.

    CONCLUSION: Patients lack the self-regulatory skills to continue their lifestyle changes and struggle with self-blame and hopelessness. Over-focusing on weight by patients and obesity healthcare increase patients' self-stigmatisation. While provider-initiated weight discussions and engaging and personalised consultation provide the initial step towards weight management, obesity healthcare could be enhanced by behavioural support and patient education on the complexity of obesity. Further considerations could be given to shifting from a weight-centric to a more holistic health-centred approach in obesity healthcare.

    This study was conducted to determine the senses that facilitate prey detection in the marble goby (Oxyeleotris marmorata) larvae. The ingestion ratios of live (generate chemical and mechanical stimuli) or frozen Artemia nauplii (generate chemical but no mechanical stimuli) by the intact or free neuromast (mechanoreceptor)-ablated O. marmorata larvae (11 mg/L streptomycin treatment before feeding) under the light or dark (fish vision was obstructed) condition were examined. Vision, mechano-, and chemoreceptions were all found to be essential in prey detection of the O. marmorata larvae. Prey movement has a significant influence as a visual stimuli on the O. marmorata larval feeding as the Artemia nauplii ingestion ratio was approximately 40% higher with significant (p = 0.001, d = 3.0), when the intact larvae were fed with the live (78.1 ± 1.5%), rather than the frozen (40.9 ± 2.8%) Artemia nauplii, under the light condition. This result was assured when no significant difference (p = 0.572, d = 0.2) was found between the ingestion ratios of frozen Artemia nauplii by the intact O. marmorata larvae under light and dark conditions. These findings demonstrate that prey detection in the O. marmorata larvae was facilitated by multi-modal senses, allowing O. marmorata larvae to survive in their natural habitats.

    Since its initial launching, ChatGPT has gained significant attention from the media, with many claiming that ChatGPT's arrival is a transformative milestone in the advancement of the AI revolution. Our aim was to assess the performance of ChatGPT before and after teaching the triage of mass casualty incidents by utilizing a validated questionnaire specifically designed for such scenarios. In addition, we compared the triage performance between ChatGPT and medical students. Our cross-sectional study employed a mixed-methods analysis to assess the performance of ChatGPT in mass casualty incident triage, pre- and post-teaching of Simple Triage And Rapid Treatment (START) triage. After teaching the START triage algorithm, ChatGPT scored an overall triage accuracy of 80%, with only 20% of cases being over-triaged. The mean accuracy of medical students on the same questionnaire yielded 64.3%. Qualitative analysis on pre-determined themes on 'walking-wounded', 'respiration', 'perfusion', and 'mental status' on ChatGPT showed similar performance in pre- and post-teaching of START triage. Additional themes on 'disclaimer', 'prediction', 'management plan', and 'assumption' were identified during the thematic analysis. ChatGPT exhibited promising results in effectively responding to mass casualty incident questionnaires. Nevertheless, additional research is necessary to ensure its safety and efficacy before clinical implementation.

    From September 2020 to January 2021, an unknown disease of winged bean (Psophocarpus tetragonolobus) was reported by local growers in the Toucheng Town, Yilan County (N24.91, E121.85). The disease occurs in all age of winged bean, and the occurrence tended to be higher in humid environment, such as branches in lower canopy or branches in high density. The disease symptoms, which also appeared to be the sign of the pathogen, were spherical pustules in yellow to orange color on the stems, leaves, and pods of winged bean. Severely infected plants also exhibited growth reduction, malformation, and curling of the leaves and pods. According to the disease literature of winged bean, this unknown disease was likely to be the false rust caused by a chytrid pathogen, Synchytrium psophocarpi (UK, CAB International. 1993); and the uredinia-liked pustules could be the sori, which contain numerous ovoid to globose sporangia inside. In order to characterize the pathogen identity, the sori were manually ruptured to assess the size of individual sporangium, which had an average of 26.71 ± 4.25 μm x 26.61 ± 4.60 μm (n=42), similar to the size reported in literature (Drinkall and Price. 1979). To confirm the molecular identity, the full genomic sequences from the small subunit (SSU) to the internal transcribed spacer-1 (ITS-1), 5.8S unit, and ITS-2 were amplified using the primer sets NS3 and ITS4. The 2,263 bp amplicon was cloned and sequenced to reveal the identity (Smith et al. 2014). The BLASTN results matched the SSU of our isolate (MW649126.1) to the Synchytrium minutum (HQ324138.1) with 96% similarity (1,075 out of 1,121 bp in length), Synchytrium decipiens isolate DAOM_87618 (KF160868.1) with 92% similarity (1,215 out of 1,326 bp in length) and S. decipiens isolate AFTOL-ID 634 (DQ536475.1) with 92% similarity (1210 out of 1316 bp in length). Phylogenetic analysis using the SSU sequence revealed this unknown pathogen was the grouped within the clade of Synchytrium genus with 100% bootstrapping confidence (Smith et al. 2014). Accordingly, the pathogen was confirmed to be a Synchytrium chytrid fungus. To complete the Koch's postulates, the sori were collected from infected tissue. After vortexing washing in 1% bleach for surface sterilization, the sori were gently crashed by a plastic tube pestle to harvest sporangia. The sporangia were sprayed onto healthy winged beans cultivated in pots, and the inoculated plants were kept in a moisture bag in 25 °C. While leaf curling and malformation could be observed about 14 days post inoculation, the yellow to orange sori could be observed around 30 to 40 days post inoculation on the whole plants cultivated in pots. The sori were collected to confirm the sporangia and the sequences were identical to the original pathogen. Collectively, this study not only presents the first report for the false rust of winged bean in Taiwan, but also documents the first reference sequence of S. psophocarpi that will be useful for future molecular diagnosis. Since S. psophocarpi has been only reported in tropic regions including Indonesia, Malay Peninsula, Malaysia, Papua New Guinea, and Philippines, this report provides the first observation of S. psophocarpi moving in the subtropic region.

    PURPOSE: To report the outcomes of the Peeling and Internal Limiting Membrane Reposition (PAIR) technique in myopic foveoschisis.

    METHODS: A retrospective case series of eyes with myopic foveoschisis that underwent vitrectomy and PAIR. Visual acuity, fundus photographs, and optical coherence tomography measurements were obtained and analyzed. Data are presented as medians (ranges).

    RESULTS: A total of seven eyes underwent PAIR and were followed up for 339 days (188-436 days). No intraoperative complications were noted. One eye exhibited postoperative macular hole formation, but the hole was healed through fluid-gas exchange. At the last follow-up, the visual acuity had improved from 20/66 (20/332-20/40) to 20/40 (20/100-20/25), and the central foveal thickness had decreased from 576 µ m to 269 µ m. A repositioned internal limiting membrane (ILM) was observed in six of the eyes, and inner retinal dimples were noted in only two eyes. However, retinal wrinkles under the repositioned or perifoveal ILM were noted in five eyes.

    CONCLUSION: The PAIR technique relieved traction, restored the ILM, and achieved functional and morphological improvement in eyes with myopic foveoschisis. Limited occurrence of inner retinal dimples and retinal thinning was noted, but retinal wrinkles occurred, likely due to ILM contracture.

    Background: Nab-paclitaxel is formulated to address several limitations of paclitaxel. Methods: A systematic review was done of several databases and a meta-analysis with a random-effects model was conducted to assess the efficacy and safety of nab-paclitaxel in metastatic gastric cancer (MGC). Results: Included studies revealed that nab-paclitaxel provides a 30.4% overall response rate and 65.7% disease control rate in MGC patients. The overall survival was 9.65 months and progression-free survival was 4.48 months, associated with the treatment line and regimen. The highest incidence of grade 3 and higher treatment-related adverse events was for neutropenia (29.9%). Conclusion: Nab-paclitaxel provides better disease response and longer survival with manageable side effects in MGC compared with paclitaxel.

    MOTIVATION: The Oxford Nanopore technology has a great potential for the analysis of methylated motifs in genomes, including whole genome methylome profiling. However, we found that there are no methylation motifs detection algorithms which would be sensitive enough and return deterministic results. Thus, the MEME suit does not extract all H. pylori methylation sites de novo even using the iterative manually controlled approach implemented in the most up-to-date methylation analysis tool Nanodisco.

    RESULTS: We present Snapper, a new highly-sensitive approach to extract methylation motif sequences based on a greedy motif selection algorithm. Snapper does not require manual control during the enrichment process and has enrichment sensitivity higher than MEME coupled with Tombo or Nanodisco instruments that was demonstrated on H. pylori strain J99 studied earlier by the PacBio technology and on four external datasets representing different bacterial species. We used Snapper to characterize the total methylome of a new H.pylori strain A45. At least four methylation sites that have not been described for H. pylori earlier were revealed. We experimentally confirmed the presence of a new CCAG-specific methyltransferase and inferred a gene encoding a new CCAAK-specific methyltransferase.

    BACKGROUND: The application of different approaches calculating the anthropogenic carbon net flux from land, leads to estimates that vary considerably. One reason for these variations is the extent to which approaches consider forest land to be "managed" by humans, and thus contributing to the net anthropogenic flux. Global Earth Observation (EO) datasets characterising spatio-temporal changes in land cover and carbon stocks provide an independent and consistent approach to estimate forest carbon fluxes. These can be compared against results reported in National Greenhouse Gas Inventories (NGHGIs) to support accurate and timely measuring, reporting and verification (MRV). Using Brazil as a primary case study, with additional analysis in Indonesia and Malaysia, we compare a Global EO-based dataset of forest carbon fluxes to results reported in NGHGIs.

    RESULTS: Between 2001 and 2020, the EO-derived estimates of all forest-related emissions and removals indicate that Brazil was a net sink of carbon (- 0.2 GtCO2yr-1), while Brazil's NGHGI reported a net carbon source (+ 0.8 GtCO2yr-1). After adjusting the EO estimate to use the Brazilian NGHGI definition of managed forest and other assumptions used in the inventory's methodology, the EO net flux became a source of + 0.6 GtCO2yr-1, comparable to the NGHGI. Remaining discrepancies are due largely to differing carbon removal factors and forest types applied in the two datasets. In Indonesia, the EO and NGHGI net flux estimates were similar (+ 0.6 GtCO2 yr-1), but in Malaysia, they differed in both magnitude and sign (NGHGI: -0.2 GtCO2 yr-1; Global EO: + 0.2 GtCO2 yr-1). Spatially explicit datasets on forest types were not publicly available for analysis from either NGHGI, limiting the possibility of detailed adjustments.

    CONCLUSIONS: By adjusting the EO dataset to improve comparability with carbon fluxes estimated for managed forests in the Brazilian NGHGI, initially diverging estimates were largely reconciled and remaining differences can be explained. Despite limited spatial data available for Indonesia and Malaysia, our comparison indicated specific aspects where differing approaches may explain divergence, including uncertainties and inaccuracies. Our study highlights the importance of enhanced transparency, as set out by the Paris Agreement, to enable alignment between different approaches for independent measuring and verification.
