The common causes of chronic renal failure in Malaysia in order of frequency are chronic glomerulonephritis, diabetic nephropathy, obstructive uropathy, malignant hypertension, chronic pyelonephritis, SLE nephritis and gouty nephropathy. Prevention of renal diseases require good control of the underlying conditions.
