The purpose of this study was to observe the effects of wearing compression socks on postural balance in university netball players. Fourteen advanced learner netball players performed three trials of 20 seconds each of dynamic postural balance test on Biodex Stability System, while wearing two socks, (a) Normal Socks and (b) Compression Socks. Data on overall, anterior/posterior and medial/lateral stability indexes were analyzed using Paired Sample T-tests. The results revealed that wearing compression materials significantly enhanced static and dynamic postural balance among the university netball players. The improvements in these key variables are likely due to enhanced somatosensory feedback information
which allowed the lower limbs to better regulate postural stability. It is suggested that compression socks can be used by university netball players to improve their postural stability.

    Abstract
Medicinal plants have been discovered and used in traditional medicine and pharmaceutical industries since centuries. In the current study, Ziziphus mauritiana leaves was used as it is rich with many biological active compounds such as flavonoids, polyphenols, sapronins and tanins. Previous studies reported the antibacterial and antifungal effects of Z. mauritiana towards various microorganisms. However, the antifungal activities of Z. mauritiana methanol extracts on Candida albicans (Clinical and American Type Culture Collection Strains) have not been discovered extensively. Objectives:Therefore, the aim of the current study is to investigate the antifungal activity of Z. mauritiana leaves methanol extracts against C. albicans ATCC strain and clinical isolate (from oral cancer patient). Methods:Antifungal susceptibility test (AST) was performed using disc diffusion, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum fungicidal concentration (MFC) to determine the antifungal activity of methanol leaves extract of Ziziphus mauritiana against C. albicans ATCC and clinical isolates. Results:The results obtained showed that there is no zone of inhibition seen from disk diffusion test for both strains. However, the minimal inhibitory and minimal fungicidal concentration showed that Ziziphus mauritiana methanol extracts was able to inhibit C. albicans clinical isolate but not ATCC strain at 500mg/mL.Conclusion: The finding of this study suggests that that Ziziphus mauritiana leaves methanol extract showed promising results against Candida albicans. Thus, it can be used as a source for functional ingredients for pharmaceutical drug industries in-order to reduce or inhibit oral fungal infection

OBJECTIVES: To provide comprehensive information regarding the implications of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), mode of transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), and its effects on orthodontic care during the pandemic and post-pandemic outbreak of the disease, based on currently available literature and information.

MATERIALS AND METHODS: A comprehensive research for studies that focused on the COVID-19 pandemic and orthodontic care up to August 18, 2020, with no language restriction. The databases included PubMed, MEDLINE, Scopus, Google Scholar, and COVID-19 Open Research Dataset (CORD-19) 2020. The research was focused on presenting symptoms, disease transmission, infection control, orthodontic care, and financial implications affecting the delivery of orthodontic treatment. The research also included reports from major health policy regulatory bodies such as World Health Organization, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, and major international dental and orthodontic societies and associations. The peer-reviewed publications and guidelines from the health regulatory authorities were given priority.

RESULTS: The latest information on the SARS-CoV-2 virus effects and orthodontic implications were arranged sequentially. The SARS-CoV-2 virus mode of transmission and its prevention were emphasized to keep the orthodontic and dental operatory safe for continuing practice.

CONCLUSION: The COVID-19 outbreak has changed the way orthodontics is practiced. Strict infection control, near-zero aerosol production, and minimal touch dentistry are the keys to prevent contamination of orthodontic operatory. During the pandemic, only emergency orthodontic procedures could be extended to the orthodontic patient while adhering to all the regulatory guidelines. Fortunately, to date, there is no reported case of cross-transmission of the SARS-CoV-2 virus at the dental setup.

OBJECTIVES: Research on endosymbionts is emerging globally and is considered as a potential source of bioactive phytochemicals. The present study examines the antioxidant and antidiabetic of the endophytic crude extract isolated from Leucaena leucocephala leaves.

METHODS: Endophytic bacteria were isolated from the leaves of L. leucocephala and 16S rRNA gene sequencing was used to establish their identity. The in vitro antioxidant effect of endophytic crude extract (LL) was evaluated using 2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) and 2, 2'-azino-bis-3-ethylbenzthiazoline-6-sulphonic acid (ABTS) free radical scavenging methods. The in vitro antidiabetic properties of LL were evaluated using α-amylase and α-glucosidase enzyme inhibition assay.

RESULTS: The isolated endophytic bacteria were identified as Cronobacter sakazakii. LL displayed potent free radical scavenging effect against ABTS and DPPH radicals with an inhibitory concentration 50% (IC50) value of 17.49 ± 0.06 and 11.3 ± 0.1 μg/mL respectively. LL exhibited α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition with an IC50 value of 23.3 ± 0.08 and 23.4 ± 0.1 μg/mL respectively compared to the standard drug (acarbose). Both glucose loaded normoglycemic rats and STZ induced diabetic rats treated with LL (200 mg/kg) exhibited a considerable reduction in blood glucose levels p<0.01 after 8 h of treatment when compared to normal and diabetic control rats respectively.

CONCLUSIONS: Thus, the study shows that LL has a wellspring of natural source of antioxidants, and antidiabetic agents and phytoconstituents present in endophytes could be the rich source for bioactive compounds.

OBJECTIVES: Recurrence rate of nasal polyps is high following endoscopic sinus surgery. To improve the surgical outcome, steroid impregnated nasal dressing is used postoperatively We aimed to compare the effect of Tualang honey impregnated nasal dressing with steroid impregnated nasal dressing on wound healing and surgical outcomes in post endoscopic sinus surgery patients.

METHODS: A prospective, randomized, controlled trial was carried out at two tertiary hospitals. 32 patients diagnosed with chronic rhinosinusitis and had underwent endoscopic sinus surgery were enrolled. The study group received 2 mL of Tualang honey nasal dressing and the control group received nasal dressing with 2 mL of triamcinolone 20 mg/mL as positive control. A 2 cm nasal dressing was placed longitudinally into the middle meatuses of both nasal cavities. Postoperative healing assessments of edema, crusting, secretions, scarring and symptoms were performed at postoperative day 7, 14, 28 and at 3 months using Sinonasal Outcome Test 22 questionnaire and modified Lund-Kennedy scoring system.

RESULTS: There were no significant differences noted in the scores of Sinonasal Outcome Test 22 and modified Lund-Kennedy at Day 7, 14 and 28 (p>0.05) for both groups. At 3rd month, patients in the triamcinolone group had lesser symptoms and better endoscopic findings (p<0.05).

CONCLUSION: Tualang honey is not as effective as steroid in achieving good wound healing and surgical outcomes in post endoscopic sinus surgery patients. Thus, it is not suitable as a substitute for steroid to reduce symptoms and prevent recurrence of disease.

Customer relationship management (CRM) is an innovative technology that seeks to improve customer satisfaction, loyalty, and profitability by acquiring, developing, and maintaining effective customer relationships and interactions with stakeholders. Numerous researches on CRM have made significant progress in several areas such as telecommunications, banking, and manufacturing, but research specific to the healthcare environment is very limited. This systematic review aims to categorise, summarise, synthesise, and appraise the research on CRM in the healthcare environment, considering the absence of coherent and comprehensive scholarship of disparate data on CRM. Various databases were used to conduct a comprehensive search of studies that examine CRM in the healthcare environment (including hospitals, clinics, medical centres, and nursing homes). Analysis and evaluation of 19 carefully selected studies revealed three main research categories: (i) social CRM 'eCRM'; (ii) implementing CRMS; and (iii) adopting CRMS; with positive outcomes for CRM both in terms of patients relationship/communication with hospital, satisfaction, medical treatment/outcomes and empowerment and hospitals medical operation, productivity, cost, performance, efficiency and service quality. This is the first systematic review to comprehensively synthesise and summarise empirical evidence from disparate CRM research data (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed) in the healthcare environment. Our results revealed that substantial gaps exist in the knowledge of using CRM in the healthcare environment. Future research should focus on exploring: (i) other potential factors, such as patient characteristics, culture (of both the patient and hospital), knowledge management, trust, security, and privacy for implementing and adopting CRMS and (ii) other CRM categories, such as mobile CRM (mCRM) and data mining CRM.

In this paper we examine two policy questions about the COVID 19 pandemic in the Philippines. These are science informed policy questions that will have to take into consideration a large degree of uncertainties in outcomes. The first question is on when to lift the Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) as informed by epidemiological modelling. The second deals on how the Philippines can respond to a future pandemic crisis. We review the Philippine government's responses and introduce the complicating scientific, social, and political contexts for both questions and address proposals for strengthening the science advisory structures. We propose a permanent science advisory body for emergencies with the widest source of expertise as needed.

Bangladesh is one of the worst hit countries in South Asia for COVID-19 outbreak. The objective of this article is to analyse healthcare, social and economic challenges faced by the country. Quantitative data and qualitative information from different sources have been used. Our analysis indicates that limited well-equipped hospitals, inadequate testing facilities, lack of awareness, improper knowledge, attitude to and practice of rules, poverty and precarious employment are the factors dominant in spreading COVID-19. Strict enforcement measures and ensuring people's adherence to rules may help reduce spread of infections. Adequate healthcare services are essential for establishing proper medical care.

To curb the COVID-19 outbreak Malaysian Government enforced movement control. As a result many private schools with an ongoing term shifted to remote teaching. This phenomenological case study explored some issues which were faced by parents and learners of primary level students during synchronous teaching. Observation was carried out for a period of 13 days on 2 primary school students of a private international school of Malaysia. Observation was followed by interviews with the same participants, where their views and reflections regarding synchronous teaching were recorded. This data was further supplemented with brief interviews with parents, whose children were also in the primary level of the same school. Nvivo 12 was used for analysis. Following Saldana's coding (2016), elemental coding methods were used, employing structural, descriptive, and in vivo coding. 62 nodes emerged during the first cycle coding process which were placed under 10 categories in the final analysis process. Results showed that parents' continuous supervision and guidance was needed in addition to the teacher's mentoring and direction when teaching online. Furthermore, data showed that one of the problems in remote teaching is lack of developing social skills of the learners as they cannot interact with their classmates in 'real-time'. Synchronous teaching increases learners' screen time which was not liked by parents. Interviews revealed that students also preferred in-class, face-to-face learning over synchronous learning. Though importance of remote teaching in this hour of crisis cannot be denied, this study concludes that implementing 100% online teaching for primary students is still at its rudimentary phase of effectiveness. This research holds high significance in opening up new perspective for educators and policy makers on how to effectively plan for online teaching in future.

Neuromarketing has become a central marketing issue in the new global economy. The term neuromarketing is a combination of neuroscience and marketing. This new concept provides new insights and powerful techniques in marketing research, especially on consumer analysis. The central concept of neuromarketing is strongly related to brain activities, understanding the consumers’ subconscious mind, explaining consumers’ preferences, motivations, and expectations, and predicting consumers’ behavior. Neuromarketing is not to replace traditional marketing methods, but rather to provide unique and complementary insights. This paper focuses on the growing field of neuromarketing and aims to explain the fundamental concepts of neuromarketing to ensure that its unexplored practical usefulness can positively contribute to the field of marketing. Therefore, this review will help researchers to develop effective approaches further, to provide better and more efficient services to consumers through the use of scientific methods to understand how consumers respond to marketing campaigns.

The causes of neonatal hypoxemia are usually either pulmonary or cardiac pathologies. We report a case of a 2-month-old boy with oxygen dependency since birth. He would desaturate down to 88-90% whenever supplemental oxygen was weaned off. Initial screening echocardiograms described only a small atrial septal defect, thus lung disease was thought to be the aetiology. Eventually, a detailed echocardiogram and CT angiography revealed anomalous right superior vena cava (RSVC) draining into the left atrium (LA). Echocardiography with bubble study injected via the upper extremities showed brisk filling of “bubbles” in the left heart, confirming fixed right-to-left shunting. Anomalous RSVC drainage into the LA is an extremely rare form of anomalous systemic venous drainage whereby unexplained hypoxemia is present and is sometimes the only clinical manifestation. Surgical correction of this anomaly is indicated to prevent complications of cyanosis and risk of systemic embolization. The surgery generally carries low risk and is associated with good long-term prognosis.

Neurofibromatosis Type 1 (NF1), also known as von Recklinghausen’s disease is a multisystem genetic disorder that occurs with an incidence of 1 in 4000 live births. Plexiform nmeurofibroma (PN) is a rare important variant of NF1, seen in 5 to 15% of cases. We report a 7-year-old boy, without family history of neurofibromatosis presented with left neck swelling associated with multiple café au lait spots for one-year duration. Computed tomography of head and neck revealed an extensive soft tissue lesion involving the left parapharyngeal, carotid space and parotid space encasing the left internal and common carotid artery until its origin at the arch of aorta with erosion of the basiocciput. He underwent transcervical excision of the lesion, which was confirmed histopathologically as PN.

Continuous ketamine infusion has been used successfully to treat severe refractory bronchospasm in children requiring mechanical ventilation in the intensive care setting. One of the common side effects known is emergence delirium. There is no standardized treatment for the ketamine-induced emergence delirium although benzodiazepine, haloperidol and dexmedetomidine have been reported to be effective in the past. A 7-year-old girl admitted to a tertiary hospital for life-threatening asthma requiring immediate intubation and ventilation. Ketamine was used as sedative and bronchodilator in anticipation of her challenging ventilation strategy. She was successfully extubated on day 8 of admission, however, she developed symptoms associated with the delirium. Successful reversal of the symptoms was achieved after 48-hour use of low dose intravenous midazolam. This was the first case reported on the reversal of ketamine-induced emergence phenomenon using low dose intravenous midazolam infusion.

Purpose: We aim to describe the clinical profile and visual outcome of paediatric patients who underwent cataract surgery in a tertiary ophthalmology referral centre in West Malaysia from 2013 to 2018. Methods: This is a retrospective review of all paediatric patients who underwent cataract surgery in our centre from 2013-2018. Results: A total of 35 eyes from 23 patients were included. There were 10 (43.5%) female and 13 (56.5%) male patients. Twelve patients (24 eyes) had bilateral cataract while 11 patients had unilateral cataract. Sixteen (45.7%) eyes had congenital cataract, followed by ectopia lentis (n=10, 28.6%), traumatic cataract (n=8, 22.9%) and steroid induced cataract (n=1, 2.8%). Three types of intraocular lens (IOL) were implanted: which were posterior chamber IOL (n=22, 62.9%), iris claw IOL (n=12, 34.3%) and scleral-fixated IOL (n=1, 2.8%). Majority of eyes (n=28, 80%) had primary IOL implantation. Twenty-five (71.4%) eyes achieved best corrected visual acuity (BCVA) of 6/12 and better at 6 months post-IOL implantation. There was no statistically significant difference in the BCVA at 6 months post-IOL implantation among the different cataract aetiology, primary or secondary IOL implantation and types of IOL implant. Eight (22.9%) eyes developed post-operative complications, which included posterior capsular opacification (PCO) (n=6, 17.1%), IOL decentration (n=4, 11.4%) and glaucoma (n=1, 2.8%). Nineteen (82.6%) patients required glasses for visual rehabilitation. Conclusion: Majority of the paediatric cataract patients achieved BCVA of 6/12 or better at 6 months post-IOL implantation. The visual outcome among the different cataract aetiology, primary or secondary IOL implantation and types of IOL implanted were similar. PCO was the most common post-operative complication.

Childhood cancer is the number one cause of death by illness in children. However, despite being such a deadly disease, survival from childhood cancer is high with cancer treatment. Unfortunately, undergoing cancer treatment can result in many treatments related side-effects. Daily self-care such as maintaining a balanced diet, drinking enough fluids, practicing proper hygiene and getting enough rest, can be effective in lowering the severity of these symptoms. It is found that existing interventions for cancer patients do not target treatment adherence in children. Therefore, the aim of the research is to design an intervention which is able to motivate children to adhere to treatment and encourage daily self-care. To enhance the design of such an intervention, the article explores the potential of virtual pet games as a health intervention, and the use of the Protection Motivation Theory and Social Learning Theory’s observational learning in increasing the intervention’s effectiveness. Finally, the design considerations, game objectives and overall conceptual architecture of the proposed intervention are discussed. A conceptual comparison is also made between the proposed game and existing serious games for cancer patients. Future work is required to develop this design into a working prototype, and to evaluate its effectiveness on improving treatment adherence and promoting daily self-care with childhood cancer patients.

Physical activity is important for our health. Physical activity is well known and proven to prevent non-communicable diseases. In a report by WHO, it is the 4th leading risk factor of mortality globally. 1 A review showed that, physical activity has positive impact on 26 diseases. 2 The important of physical activity as important risk factor of chronic diseases is undeniable. The evidence of the impact of physical activity on health outcome is overwhelming. Why is this not a common knowledge among healthcare professional and why it is hard to translate it into action?

Pediatric epilepsy is one of the common illness in children. Pediatric epilepsy has significant impact not only to the patient, but also to the care takers. Furthermore, the disease could potentially cause strain in the limited resources of the healthcare system which is preventable. A search was conducted to review relevant published studies on factors affecting seizure control using PubMed/MEDLINE, Google Scholar and also Science Direct searching engines databases using keywords: paediatric seizure, seizure control, side effects, antiepileptic, adherence and quality of life. In this review, we found that many factors contribute to the pediatric epilepsy, namely; compliance, genetic, age, socioeconomic factors, parental health literacy and numbers and side effects of the medications. Furthermore, there is certain factors that need to be explored in the future, such as unaddressed parental concern on treatment/medication, denial of disease and drug-drug interactions. Factors that had been identified can be used in the prevention and control programs, while factors which is less studied should be further studied in the future.
