    Abstract This article describes the clinical and laboratory procedures involved in the fabrication of laboratory-processed, provisional, screw-retained, implant-supported maxillary and mandibular fixed complete dentures incorporating a cast metal reinforcement for immediate loading of implants. Precise fit is achieved by intraoral luting of the cast frame to milled abutments. Effective splinting of all implants is attained by the metal substructure and retrievability is provided by the screw-retention of the prosthesis.

    PURPOSE: The current study investigated the effect of different luting agents on the fracture resistance of Procera AllCeram copings.

    METHODS: Six master dies were duplicated from the prepared maxillary first premolar tooth using nonprecious metal alloy (Wiron 99). Thirty copings (Procera AllCeram) of 0.6-mm thickness were manufactured. Three types of luting media were used: zinc phosphate cement (Elite), glass ionomer cement (Fuji I), and dual-cured composite resin cement (Panavia F). Ten copings were cemented with each type. Two master dies were used for each group, and each of them was used to lute five copings. All groups were cemented according to manufacturer's instructions and received a static load of 5 kg during cementation. After 24 hours of distilled water storage at 37 degrees C, the copings were vertically compressed using a universal testing machine at a crosshead speed of 1 mm/min.

    RESULTS: ANOVA revealed significant differences in the load at fracture among the three groups (p < 0.001). The fracture strength results showed that the mean fracture strength of zinc phosphate cement (Elite), glass ionomer cement (Fuji I), and resin luting cement (Panavia F) were 1091.9 N, 784.8 N, and 1953.5 N, respectively.

    CONCLUSION: Different luting agents have an influence on the fracture resistance of Procera AllCeram copings.

    The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of various luting cement systems on bond strength of fibre-reinforced posts to root canal dentine. 40 extracted single rooted sound premolar teeth were root filled, decoronated and randomly divided into four groups. Fibre posts, Aestheti- Plus™ (Bisco,Inc. Schaumburg, IL, USA) were cemented using four luting cements: Group A (control): Elite 100® Zinc phosphate (GC Corp, Japan), Group B: Calibra ™ Esthetic Resin Cement (Dentsply Caulk, USA), Group C: RelyX ARC Adhesive Resin (3M ESPE), Group D: RelyX Unicem Aplicap (3M ESPE). Each root was sliced into 2 discs representing the coronal and middle portions of the root canal giving rise to 20 specimens per group. Bond strength was determined using push-out tests and data was analyzed using SPSS version 14.0. The mean bond strength of Group A to Aestheti-Plus™ post was 7.71 MPa (±2.51) and Group B was 5.69 MPa (±3.23). Group C exhibited the lowest mean bond strength, 4.29 MPa (±3.53) while the highest bond strength was obtained from Group D, 7.98 MPa (±2.61). One way ANOVA showed significant interaction between all groups (p=.OOI). Post-hoc Bonferroni test reve;iled that bond strength of Group C was significantly lower compared to Group A (p=.008) and D (p=.004). In conclusion, the mean bond strength of Aestheti- Plus™ post to root canal dentine was highest when cemented with RelyX Unicem resin cement followed by Elite 100® zinc phosphate cement, Calibra and RelyX ARC resin cements. However, the bond strengths of Cali bra and RelyX Unicem resin cements were not significantly different from Elite 100® zinc phosphate cement.

    The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) was formed in 1971, and 10 years
    later the ASEAN Federation for Psychiatry and Mental Health (AFPMH) was formally
    launched. This article reviews the objectives, structure, membership, and the principles of
    rotational participation and responsibility of the AFPMH, which has just celebrated its jubilee anniversary last year. Twenty-six years have passed, and the AFPMH has achieved many successes, including the congress, which is currently held every two years, and the ASEAN Journal of Psychiatry, which may be the oldest regional journal in the Asian continent. The bright future of ASEAN psychiatry is expected but relies heavily on the unity and commitment of all individual psychiatric associations within the ASEAN.

    Introduction: Owing to the variety of materials and methods employed, comparison of the results and findings from bonding studies is difficult. Until recently, several types of teeth have been used in published research papers as a substrate in orthodontic bonding research including bovine incisors, fresh and rebonded human premolars. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare the shear bond strength of an adhesive bonded to different tooth surfaces (human premolar, bovine incisor and rebonded human premolar). Methods: Two groups of thirty premolar teeth and one group of bovine incisors had brackets attached in a standardized manner using Transbond XT (3M Unitek). The adhesive was cured using conventional halogen light and a specially designed tool to standardize the distance between the light curing tip and the adhesive.     This study is conducted to compare two resin luting cements (Rely XTMARC,3M and Compolute™ESPE) on their microleakage with one composite inlay system (Filtek™ Z250 Universal Restorative Materials, 3M). Thirty conventional inlays, Class II MOIDO cavity with gingival margin I mm above the cementoenamel junction, were prepared in premolar teeth. The composite inlays were fabricated directly on the prepared teeth using layering technique. Fifteen of the inlays were cemented with RelyTMX ARC and fifteen with Compolute™ (ESPE). The specimens were kept at 370 C for 10 days before thermocycling and immersed in methylene blue 2% solution for 24 hours. The teeth were sectioned mesio-distally. The site and degree of leakage of each section was scored using a visual scoring system under a stereomicroscope at a magnification of 1.5X. Results showed that there was no significant difference in'leakage extent (p>O.05), between Rely X™ARC and Compolute™. For both materials, leakage occurred most commonly within the enamel surface and between the cement-tooth interfaces. None of the leakage occurred between inlay - cement interface. There is no significant difference in the extent of leakage between Rely XTMARC compared to Compolute™.

    The composite reinforcement technique has been used clinically to salvage damaged root-filled teeth compromised by caries, trauma, developmental abnormalities, internal resorption and iatrogenic causes. This clinical case report describes the use of the technique to reattach a fractured fragment in a compromised endodontically treated root besides reinforcing it for continued function in the mouth. Factors of clinical importance related to this additional application; including reattachment of tooth fragments, post crown retention, coronal microleakage and fracture resistance and strength, are also briefly discussed.

    Until today there are still a high percentage of oral microorganisms have not been identified due to inability to isolate using the cultural method. However, identification of uncultivable microorganisms associated with disease will permits clinicians for a more accurate diagnosis, treatment and preventive measures. Unculturable microorganisms are also involved in disease and may account for treatment failure since their susceptibility to antimicrobial agents would be unknown. Thus, the opportunity for a rational approach to the treatment of disease relies on the state of knowledge concerning its aetiology and pathogenesis. Recently developed molecular methods have made it possible to characterise mixed microflora in their entirety, including the substantial numbers of unculturable bacteria. The development of rapid molecular methods like PCR provides a reliable identification of unculturable microorganisms. This paper will review the current literature regarding the PCR techniques used to identify uncultivable oral microflora.

    The effect of filler content and storage conditions such as drying, storing in water and thermal cycling on linear dimensional changes were investigated and evaluated. The dimensional accuracy studies were performed using a specific designed mould and a coordinate measuring machine. The findings gave support to the view that tiller content is an important factor influencing the physical and mechanical properties of the composite inlay material. The higher tiller content gave less polymerization shrinkage. The greatest linear shrinkage recorded was 0.79 %. The average linear shrinkage (in air, water and thermal cycling) for 79 % filler Prisma AP.H was 0.33 %, for 65 % tiller Prisma AP.H was 0.35 % and for 50 % filler Prisma AP.H was 0.42 %. Generally, dimensional changes was greatest when stored dry. This was followed by materials which were thermal cycled. The least dimensional change recorded was when the materials were stored in water.
