One of the causes of post cholecystectomy pain is due to stone in the cystic duct. This is a very rare occurrence although it can be debilitating to the patient. We report a case of a 64 year old man presented with retained cystic duct stone post cholecystectomy complicated by liver abscess and biloma. The management of this unusual presentation is discussed.

The aim of the research is to compare the physical profile between Malaysian women basketball players and netball players. The physical profile measures were height, body mass, and body fat. The subjects were divided into two groups based on their playing performance and positions. The playing performance consisted of elite/senior, junior, and reserve players. Meanwhile, the playing positions consisted of forward/attack, centre, and guard/defence. The percentage of body fat was determined by means of skinfold measurement at seven different locations. Results showed that there were significant differences in body fat percentage between basketball player and netball players (p < 0.01). The elite/senior basketball players were reported to have the lowest body fat percentage as compared to other basketball or netball players. While for the playing position, guard/defence position basketball players were reported to be the shortest and have the lowest body fat percentage as compared to other playing positions. In conclusion, Malaysian basketball players were found to have better physical or bodily advantaged in terms of playing contact sports as compared to the Malaysian netball players.

The number of hip replacement procedures in the United States is expected to increase four-fold by 2030. Younger patients, those under 65 years old, are expected to account for 53% of hip replacements in 2030, compared to 44% in 2005. As midterm review results are becoming available worldwide now, the problem that perplexes surgeons is the alteration of limb length which has been an ancillary goal of Total Hip Replacements. The lack of modularity in neck lengths and offsets in resurfacing arthroplasty clearly limits the change in limb lengths achievable for the hip. The goal of this study is to scrutinize the various parameters that affect implant seating in resurfacing arthroplasty and to determine the alteration of limb length achievable during surgery.

Current available implants for total knee replacement are based on the mormphometry of the Caucasian knee. We believe there are significant morphometric differences in the Asian knee that will be relevant in future implant designs. Sixty-nine consecutive patients (80 knees) underwent computer navigated primary total knee arthroplasty. The anterior-posterior (AP) length, and the medial-lateral (ML) width of the distal femur, were analyzed, with respect to the final sizing details of four implants (femoral component) commonly used locally. The mean AP length was 59.9 (SD4.8) mm, and the mean ML width was 65.0 (SD 5.0) mm. The overall mean aspect ratio (ML/AP) was 1.09 (SD 0.07). The mean aspect ratio for females was 1.08 (SD 0.07). Both were smaller than the aspect ratio of the implants - which ranged from 1.11 to 1.13. All four implants tend to overhang at the medial-lateral width of the distal femur. This is more obvious in females. Future implant designs should provide more ML wdth sizes for a given AP length, in addition to gender differences, for this population.

The nature, extent and definition of a collaboration varies between individuals, disciplines, departments and institutions. It depends upon such factors as the people involved, the nature of the research problem, the research environment, the institutional culture and demographic factors. This paper will examine the concept of collaborative research and discuss its place and position in an evolving university.

Clozapine is an effective anti-psychotic and has long been used as an intervention for treatment-resistant schizophrenia. This case report will highlight the use of Clozapine up to 100 mg ON as a second-line medication to achieve satisfactory response after 5 weeks in an adolescent who was recently diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Objectives: To study the relationship between psychopathology and characteristics of offenders with schizophrenia. Methods: In this cross sectional study, 70 consecutive offenders with schizophrenia (aged 18-65) admitted to Hospital Bahagia Ulu Kinta within a six-month period were studied. Subjects’ psychopathology was assessed using Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS). Results: Offenders against person group received treatment at later age (p=0.043) compared to against property and drug or firearm-related offenders groups. Offenders in drug or firearm-related group had significantly higher PANSS negative scores (p=0.015). Unsound mind at the time of offense was significantly associated with high PANSS positive scores (p=0.011) and offenders against person or property groups (p=0.004). Conclusion: Offenders against person had a significantly later age of treatment and probably onset of illness. Unsoundness of mind was significantly associated with positive symptoms and more frequently reported among offenders against person or property. Offenders in drug or firearmrelated
group were significantly associated with negative symptoms.

Inner child work is a therapeutic tool that has been known to be very beneficial in working through issues from one’s past that can largely influence one’s present life. However, it is apparently not widely applied in the local therapy setting. This paper describes the use of inner child work in dealing with a patient who presented with anger and marital problems, and who was carrying a lot of emotional baggage.

Three indigenous Malay surgical procedures, namely circumcision by the mudim, bone-setting by the bomoh patah and cupping, are described. It is noted that complications are associated with both circumcision and bone-setting, and suggestions are made of possible health measures to cope with the situation.
