Recent studies have demonstrated a reduction in the morbidity and mortality of pancreatic resection and improvement in the actuarial 5-year survival for patients with resected ductal adenocarcinoma. We reviewed the clinico-pathological characteristics of patients who underwent resection with curative intent for ductal adenocarcinoma of the pancreas between 1980 and 1993.

Spontaneous pneumoperitoneum without peritonitis is a rare phenomenon which poses a dilemma to the surgeons faced with this problem. Two such cases and their outcome are presented. The first case was caused by tracheal rupture during emergency intubation and was treated by observation until complete resolution. The second case was caused by barotrauma during positive pressure ventilation and was treated by laparotomy. Both patients died for reasons unrelated to the pneumoperitoneum. The passage of air from the chest cavity into the abdominal cavity was along the great vessels in the first case and through the diaphragm in the second. A compilation of other aetiologies of pneumoperitoneum without peritonitis as extracted from the literature is presented. In the presence of pneumoperitoneum without peritonitis and when the clinical history does not suggest visceral perforation, an abdominal tap or lavage should be attempted. If negative, continued observation is advised.

This paper examines the effect of age at first calving and milking system on the overall lactation performance and incidence of lactation failure of 442 F1 Bos indicus/Bos taurus dairy crossbreds in Sabah. The two types of crossbred used in the study were imported F1 Sahiwal x Friesian and locally bred Friesian x Local Indian Dairy. Heifers which did not lactate for at least 120 days or produced less than 20 kg of milk during the fourteenth week of lactation were considered to have failed to establish a lactation. The imported and locally bred heifers recorded failure rates of 23.4 and 21.4% respectively. Three milking systems were examined namely machine milking without calf, machine milking with calf and hand milking. They produced failure rates of 30, 12 and 5.6% respectively. The cows that passed recorded 120 day milk production figures of 878, 1,134 and 1,054 kg respectively. The three age groups of less than 30 months, 30 to 34 months and greater than 34 months recorded failure rates of 37, 22 and 10% respectively. The heifers machine milked without their calf which calved at less than 30 months of age recorded a failure rate of 44% while those which calved at greater than 34 months recorded a failure rate of only 17%.

Biogas is an economical and environmentally friendly renewable energy which can be produced by anaerobic digestion (AD). This biochemical method converts organic compounds (mainly from wastes) into a sustainable source of energy. Anaerobic co-digestion (AcoD) is a method combining more than one substrate to resolve the difficulties faced in a single substrate AD system. Solid wastes increases as the population increase so do the urbanization and industrial industries. Food waste and sewage sludge are examples of one of the solid wastes. Co-digesting of both substrates may improve process stabilization to increase biogas production and overcome the nutrients imbalance. Thus, anaerobic co-digestion has been recognized as a technology that could provide a clean renewable energy source and helps reduce the landfill problem. The objective of this paper is to investigate the recent achievements and perspectives on the interaction of co-digestion between food waste and sewage sludge to improve biogas production. This may provide valuable information on the optimization of combinations of substrates: food waste and sewage sludge and prediction of bioreactor performance.

This paper aims to presents the implementation of Organizational Memory Information System (OMIS) framework in managing knowledge in organization. OMIS providing a way for organization to leveraging tacit knowledge in capturing, codifying, storing and transferring knowledge. Every year data, information and knowledge had increased then becomes wasted memories due to the retirement, replacement and resignation of staff. This can have a great impact if the knowledge is not used wisely for future purpose. This could give great impact when it is not used wisely. Organization become more efficient and competitive if they used the collections of memory in the form of collected data, information, and knowledge. Organizations which are not efficient will do the process, and study the same repeatedly. Implementation of this framework is a good way to increase effectiveness of knowledge sharing in university. But some knowledge is hard to capture especially tacit knowledge. Many organizations attempt to capture tacit knowledge and codify it so that it can be shared around the organization for greater value. So this paper is mainly focused on implementation of Organizational Memory Information System (OMIS) framework in order to manage knowledge more centralized and organized in organization.

Antiphospholipid antibodies (aPLs) are autoantibodies with laboratory significance in developing thrombosis and pregnancy morbidity in antiphospholipid syndrome (APS). High prevalence of aPLs namely - anticardiolipin, anti-β2-glycoprotein I, lupus anticoagulant, antiphosphatidylcholine, antiphosphatidylserine, antiphosphatidylinositol, antiphosphatidylethanolamine and antiprothrombin antibodies have been observed in patients with different types of haematological malignancies and solid tumours. Although cancer patients have high risk of developing thrombosis, the risk becomes even higher in aPLs carriers. Although the relationship between aPLs and cancer has to be further investigated, however, the presence of aPLs in neoplastic patients can possibly increase the risk of developing thrombosis. As the pathogenic role of aPLs in cancer is still a matter of debate, more researches should be conducted on the association between the aPLs and malignancies towards the potential impact on understanding the pathogenicity and treatment when cancer and APS coexists.

Pubmed and Medline were searched for articles referring to Pseudomonas keratitis between the years 2007 and 2012 to obtain an overview of the current state of this disease. Keyword searches used the terms "Pseudomonas" + "Keratitis" limit to "2007-2012", and ["Ulcerative" or "Microbial"] + "Keratitis" + "Contact lenses" limit to "2007-2012". These articles were then reviewed for information on the percentage of microbial keratitis cases associated with contact lens wear, the frequency of Pseudomonas sp. as a causative agent of microbial keratitis around the world, the most common therapies to treat Pseudomonas keratitis, and the sensitivity of isolates of Pseudomonas to commonly prescribed antibiotics. The percentage of microbial keratitis associated with contact lens wear ranged from 0% in a study from Nepal to 54.5% from Japan. These differences may be due in part to different frequencies of contact lens wear. The frequency of Pseudomonas sp. as a causative agent of keratitis ranged from 1% in Japan to over 50% in studies from India, Malaysia, and Thailand. The most commonly reported agents used to treat Pseudomonas keratitis were either aminoglycoside (usually gentamicin) fortified with a cephalosporin, or monotherapy with a fluoroquinolone (usually ciprofloxacin). In most geographical areas, most strains of Pseudomonas sp. (≥95%) were sensitive to ciprofloxacin, but reports from India, Nigeria, and Thailand reported sensitivity to this antibiotic and similar fluoroquinolones of between 76% and 90%.

The Open Market scenario provides high levels of unreliability to culinary arts graduates where they
are no longer promised a place in the hospitality and tourism sectors but rather to compete with
graduates from other fields for employment. Hence, the field of entrepreneurship is seen as an
alternative in building a career that can help in reducing the dumping of graduates in the job market in
line with the government's call encouraging more entrepreneurs in Malaysia. Therefore, this study is
aimed at identifying the tendency to entrepreneurship among students of the final year semester of the Diploma in Culinary Arts, Hospitality School and Tourism Kolej Yayasan Pelajaran Johor
(SHPKYPJ). Measurements for this study were based on surveys using questionnaire and data
collected by Statistical Packages for Social Science (SPSS) Version 21.0. The results of the study
found that overall respondents have a high inclination towards entrepreneurship. If they are more
focused, encouragement and exposure are given to them, the probability that they become
entrepreneurs after graduation will be higher.

The higher learning institution especially private college is growing day by day with the variation of
course especially for the culinary art students. Culinary Arts is one area in Technical Vocational
Education and Training (TVET) where students need to adapt the real-world working as a chef besides
fundamental subject matter knowledge, techniques and hands-on skills for cooking in order to survive
in the industry. The course syllabus of culinary art is patterned to provide a stage for students who want
to be a chef in the future. This study is looking forward to find the importance of internship in Kolej
Yayasan Pelajaran Johor towards culinary art students. The internship is gradually enhancing the
student knowledge, confidence level and performance which enable them to be more confident when
coming back from internship. This positive indication and feedback may affect towards students,
lecturers, private institutional itself and Ministry of Higher Education.

Poly(hydroxamic acid) ion exchange resin was evaluated for speciation of iron(II) and iron(III) ions. Distribution coefficients indicate that the resin is more selective towards iron(III) ion. Column extractions show that iron(III) ion is quantatively extracted from sulfuric acid solutions at concentrations of between 0.01 to 0.00lM but only 2% or less of iron(II) ion is retained under these conditions. Further studies show that these two ions can be separated and their separations are not affected by the presence of nickel, zinc, copper, calcium, chloride, bromide, nitrate and sulphate.

A study was conducted to investigate the possibility of employing a single intramuscular injection of a synthetic hormone analogue, ovupin on the induced breeding of two major carps, viz. rohu (Labeo rohita), mrigala (Cirrhinus mrigala) and an endangered minor carp, bata (Labeo bata). Three breeding trials of each species were performed. In case of major carp, the females were injected with single dose of ovupin solution at a rate of 0.5 mL kg-1 body weight, while the minor carp received ovupin solution at a dose of 0.3 mL kg-1 body weight, whereas males received extracted PG hormone at a dose of 2 and 1.5 mg kg-1 body weight for major carps and minor carp, respectively. All the three species were successfully bred using ovupin through a single injection. In case of major carps, the latent period was 9-10 h while 12-14 h for minor carp. The breeding response of females was 100% in major carps, whereas it was approximately 90% in minor carp. Fertilization rate varied between 87.07 and 89.94% for the major carps and between 87.6 and 89.9% for minor carps. Major carps showed higher hatching rates (77.21 to 80.19%) than minor carp (64.9 to 66.56%). The present study indicated that ovupin could be effective as alternative of PG in carp’s breeding in Bangladesh.

As of today, ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) is a thermoplastic material normally used as bearing
components for human joint replacements. However, formation of wear debris from UHMWPE after certain service
periods may cause adverse effects which remain as unresolved issues. In this study, mechanical and dry sliding wear
properties of UHMWPE reinforced with different loading of talc particles were investigated. The wear test was carried
out using Ducom TR-20 pin-on-disc tester at different pressure velocity (pv) factors under dry sliding conditions. The
worn surfaces and transfer films of pure UHMWPE and talc/UHMWPE composites were observed under scanning electron
microscope (SEM). The experimental results showed that the microhardness increased with the increase of talc loadings
in UHMWPE. The 20 wt. % talc/UHMWPE composites showed a 17% increment in microhardness as compared with pure
UHMWPE. The dry sliding wear behaviour of UHMWPE was also improved upon the reinforcement of talc. The wear rate
of UHMWPE decreased after incorporation of talc particles. The coefficient of friction (COF) increased slightly under low
pv conditions. At high pv conditions, the COF decreased in values with increasing talc loadings. The improvement in
wear behaviour may be attributed to the increase in load-carrying capacity and surface hardness of the talc/UHMWPE
composites. SEM micrographs on worn surfaces showed that plastic deformation and grooving wear were dominant for
UHMWPE. The plastic deformation and grooving wear were reduced upon the reinforcement of talc particles. The talc/
UHMWPE composites produced smoother and uniform transfer films as compared to pure UHMWPE.

The present study evaluates the petroleum source rock generation potential of the Neogene Bhuban shales from Bangladesh.
Organic geochemical and organic petrological methods were used for analyzing 11 drill core samples from 4 gas fields
in the basin. Source rock potential, maceral composition, organic matter abundance, biomarker distribution, thermal
maturity, hydrocarbon generation and depositional environment were evaluated. Kerogen in the studied shale samples
is classified mainly as Type III with lesser amounts of Type II. Vitrinite is the dominant maceral group observed in the
analyzed Bhuban samples followed by liptinite and inertinite. Vitrinite reflectance, Tmax and biomarker parameters
indicate the thermal maturity ranges from just pre-oil window to mid-oil window. Based on its total organic carbon
(TOC), extractable organic matter (EOM) and hydrogen index (HI), the analyzed Bhuban shales are ranked as mainly poor
to fair source rocks but with good gas generation potential. The dominant terrestrial environment prevailed during the
deposition of the studied Bhuban shales while the condition was sub-oxic as indicated by cross-plots of pristane versus
phytane and sterane versus pristane/phytane ratios.

The steady laminar combined convective flow with heat and mass transfer of a Newtonian viscous incompressible fluid over a permeable flat plate with linear hydrodynamic and thermal slips has been investigated numerically. The velocity of the external flow, the suction/injection velocity and the temperature of the plate surface are assumed to vary nonlinearly following the power law with the distance along the plate from the origin. Lie group analysis is used to develop the similarity transformations and the governing momentum, the energy conservation and the mass conservation equations are converted to a system of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations with the associated boundary conditions. The resulting equations are solved numerically using the Runge-Kutta-Fehlberg fourth-fifth order numerical method. The effects of hydrodynamic slip parameter (a), thermal slip parameter (b), suction/injection parameter (fw), power law parameter (m), buoyancy ratio parameter (N), Prandtl number (Pr) and Schmidt number (Sc) on the fluid flow, heat transfer and mass transfer characteristics are investigated and presented graphically. We have also shown the effects of the Reynolds number (Re) and the power law parameter (m) on the velocity slip and the thermal slip factors. Good agreement is found between the numerical results of the present paper and published results.
