    Realising possible unmet needs of final year medical students we initiated a weekly informal face-toface discussion forum between them and the teaching faculty of the department of medicine. Various academic and non-academic topics, as dictated by the students, were discussed in 19 weekly sessions. Evaluation by the students was subsequently done by means of an on-line questionnaire after the final examinations. The aim of this study was to evaluate this forum, undertaken for the first time in our institution, by assessing student feedback. We conclude that although the number of attendees and responders were small, feedback was generally positive. This type of forum can be improved upon and serve as another portal for benefitting students.

    Introduction: Entrepreneurship CMIE 1022 module was introduced in February 2012 and was made compulsory to all first year undergraduate students in all faculties of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). The main objective of CMIE 1022 is to expose the students to entrepreneurship with implementation of online teaching and business game simulation.

    Method: Module evaluation form was distributed among medical and nursing students at the end of the module.

    Result: One hundred seventy-seven students responded to the survey with 50.3% of the respondents agreed that their soft skill have improved, 37.8% for increased awareness of entrepreneurship, 25.6% has increased their interest in entrepreneurship and 22.22% agreed to apply in their own courses. More than three quarter of the students agreed that the lecturers and teaching assistants teaching methodology were acceptable. However, only 18.4% agreed that this course should be taken by all students of UKM.

    Conclusion: This study showed despite increase in soft skills and interests including high performance of the academics, most students disagreed on the introduction of CMIE 1022 course to all UKM students. It is suggested that the course curriculum to be reviewed in order to achieve the objectives.

    The aim of this study is to evaluate the treatment outcome using fixed and removable appliances, in the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Malaya (U.M.). The study models of 25 fixed and 30 upper removable appliance cases, with complete written records were examined before and after orthodontic treatment using the PAR (Peer Assessment Rating) Index. All the data were analyzed using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) for Windows. Eighty five percent of the cases selected as sample were either 'improved' or 'greatly improved'. Among the 10 cases which were 'greatly improved', all had high pre-treatment PAR points (> 35 PAR points). Conversely, all the eight cases classified as 'worse or no different' were with low pretreatment PAR scores « 20 PAR points). The mean treatment duration in this study was 23. I months, ranging from 2 months to 78 months. The results of this study showed that the standard of treatment in this Faculty were fairly acceptable.

    The huge population of persuadable, active, healthy and young students is the potential as blood donors to meet safe blood donation. This study focused on the existing level of knowledge regarding voluntary blood donation among medical (Faculty of Medicine and Health Science) and nonmedical students with science background (Faculty of Engineering) at the Universiti Malaysia Sabah.     Integrated approach of naqli and aqli knowledge is applied in most educational
    activities conducted in Faculty of Dentistry, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). Naqli is
    knowledge from al-Quran and as-Sunnah while aqli is rational knowledge or knowledge based on
    scientific evidence. Currently the integration of naqli and aqli knowledge in periodontology subject
    is at the initial stage of implementation. Motivational session for periodontitis patients is identified
    to be one of the educational activities that integrates the naqli and aqli knowledge. Therefore, this

    Excellence in academic and practical skills is the main goal of most nursing educators. It is a tool to measure the level of success of the nurse educators. Concept mapping care plan is related to the expectation that today's nursing students must master a constantly expanding body of knowledge and apply complex skills in rapidly changing environment. Concept mapping care plan was developed by researcher and validated by ten expert panels using three rounds of Delphi technique. It was used to evaluate academic performance of nursing students at clinical practice. Concept mapping care plan is a good assessment tool to nursing educators to prepare nursing students for better critical thinking and expected to function effectively after graduation. The goal of concept mapping care plan as a teaching strategy during the clinical practices, help the students to integrate the knowledge from theory and implementing this knowledge in the clinical setting. Researcher believes that concept mapping care plan can be as a replacement of nursing process that have been practiced before in the clinical setting. In addition, through concept mapping care plan provides an opportunity for students to broaden their knowledge and become more creative.

    Introduction: Assessment is an integral aspect of
    teaching. One-best-answer (OBA) items, if properly
    constructed are able to drive learning. In-house OBA
    items are notoriously poorly-constructed. The role of
    a central vetting committee is to review test items and
    ensure that they adhere to expected standards. Hence,
    the objective of this audit is to determine whether
    central vetting has improved the construct quality of
    OBA items.
    Methods: We audited the psychiatry end-of posting
    OBA items from before and after central vetting to
    compare the quality of the items before and after
    central vetting was instituted. Quality was evaluated
    on appropriateness of test content, items with higher
    cognition and items without flaws. A standard was not
    set for this first audit.
    Results: Seventy six of 181 psychiatry OBAs items
    retrieved from 2011 to August 2012 had undergone
    first level (department) vetting only and the remainder
    105 (58.0%) had two levels of vetting; department and
    central vetting committee (CVC).
    Appropriateness of content increased from 92.1% to
    98.1%. Items with higher order thinking doubled from
    21.1% to 42.9%. Items with clinical scenario increased
    by 8.4% to 78.1%. Logical ordering of options however,
    remained around 50%.

    Two-level vetting markedly reduced problematic
    lead-in questions (67.1 to 13.3%), non-homogenous
    options (42.1 to 9.5%), vague and implausible options
    (39.5 to 6.7%), and spelling and grammar mistakes
    (19.7 to 5.7%).
    Conclusion: Two-level vetting had improved the
    quality of OBAs and should be continued. This could
    be enhanced by training all Faculty on writing quality
    OBA items and careful selection and empowerment
    of CVC members. A re-audit is to be conducted after
    Faculty training.

    This study is a survey to identify the formation of leadership skills through teaching practice.
    Leadership skills consist of three basic skills of technical skills, interpersonal skills and conceptual
    skills. The study also examined the relationship between the formations of leadership skills with the
    course of study and identifies the differences in formation of leadership skills during teaching practice
    conducted in rural schools and urban schools. The study was conducted through survey method by
    using questionnaires. Meanwhile, the population involved were students of Faculty of Education,
    UTM. Analysis of the findings of this study is using SPSS 17.0 by descriptive and inferential. The
    results of this study show that the formation of leadership skills through teaching practice is high at
    85.4%. For inferential statistical results showed there was no significant relationship to formation of
    leadership skills with the course of study and there was no significant difference in relationship between the formation of leadership skills through teaching practice conducted in rural schools and
    urban schools. In conclusion, all the elements of leadership skills can be formed and developed through
    teaching practice and will be improved from time to time. Meanwhile, there was no significant
    relationship to the formation of leadership skills through teaching practice with the course of study and
    with the different of teaching practice location.

    Work-life balance is a prerequisite, in the choice of contemporary work styles, but allegedly has deteriorated in the teaching profession. Affected work-life quality causes serious impacts including work-life conflict, decreased job ability and affects an individual’s psychological state. This distress wave affects on a global scale, due to extreme workloads which cause high job stress that eventually affect quality of life. In the Malaysian context, job stress is currently at a medium level, but workloads are expected to increase, hence, work-life balance is potentially at risk. Investigations into work-life balance among teachers in Sabah is scarce. In addition, studies have not adequately examined the issue with positive integration. Balancing is about strengthening the known gains, and overcoming the identified strains. Thus, present conceptual paper discussed about the relationship of workload, eustress and distress towards work-life balance. Ultimately, a conceptual framework is developed based on the reviewed literature.

    This preliminary study investigated the: (i) level of knowledge, attitude and practice (KAP) among members of Kulliyyah of Allied Health Sciences (KAHS), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM) regarding Islamisation of knowledge (IOK); (ii) correlation of KAP and IOK with the duration of service and level of exposure to IOK-related activities; (iii) comparison of KAP between departments in KAHS towards the understanding of IOK, and (iv) level of KAP in IOK between KAHS academics and non-academic staff. Since studies on the integration of religious worldview in health sciences faculties are scarce, this study will be investigating the effectiveness of IOK programmes at the faculty level. A total of 74 staff participated in the study. The response rate was 65.5% out of 113 distributed questionnaires.     This paper discusses the multilevel approach in constructing a model for estimating hierarchically structured data of students' performance. Multilevel models that take into account variation from the clustering of data in different levels are compared to regression models using least squares method. This study also estimates the contributions of gender and ethnic factors on students' performance. Performance data of866 students in a science faculty in an institution of higher learning is obtained and analyzed. This data is hierarchically structured with two levels, namely students and departments. Analysis findings show different parameter estimates for both models. Also, the multilevel model which incorporates variability from different levels and predictors from higher levels is found to provide a better fit for model explaining students' performance.

    The use of technology in teaching and learning is increasingly synonymous with the existence of multiple online platforms. Online teaching and learning guides help lecturers and students to obtain a variety of information related to their specialization in the field of study. As all UiTM students at the Diploma level are required to take and pass the Entrepreneurial Basic course (ENT300), they need to produce an entrepreneurial project as one of the course evaluation components. However, the number of science and technology based entrepreneurship projects and products are still too few based on project titles every semester. The ENT300 Kiosk Science and Technology (KENTS) was developed specifically as a guide for the students of the Faculty of Computer Science and Mathematics and has been improved by expanding its scope to the students of the Faculty of Engineering and Faculty of Science at UiTM Johor. A more global scope in KENTS provides specialized online guides for lecturers and students in the science and technology clusters. KENTS is a platform that can be used to realize the direction of higher education in Malaysia and to assist UiTM in producing holistic graduates with entrepreneurship. This online guide platform provides teaching and learning assistance through the custom business template which is categorized into two, system development and machine design. KENTS provides a search function from a list of compilations of science-based and entrepreneurial projects that help lecturers and students find entrepreneurial ideas. KENTS database is used to store student entrepreneurial project information as an e-learning platform that can be shared by lecturers and students globally.

    Identifying courses and determining the number of classesto be opened are among the importantstepsin the early stage of classtimetable preparation. Any mistake that happened during thisstage will not only cause problemsto students but also disrupt other parties. Students will not be able to register courses as a result of an incomplete class timetable, while excess classes will result in lecturers wasting their time in empty classrooms. Further, the situation would also increase stress among lecturers who are also members of the timetable committee as they need to postpone classes to fix the timetable immediately. Based on Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) Tansformation Program (TRANS4U), Faculty of Business and Management (FBM), UiTM Cawangan Terengganu have taken the initiative to further examine the issue and recommended the relevant process to be enhanced. Upon analysis of the primary causes of the problem and recommendation by team members, an electronic data managementsystem known as Course Setting and Tracking (CSETT) was developed. CSETT enables students to plan and monitor courses while providing latest information to be used by AcademicAdministrators and otherrelevant parties. With an up-to-date and easily accessed information, class timetable could be prepared accurately and fast. The effectiveness of CSETT was proven when class time table was able to be prepared within seven days compared to 14 days prior to system implementation.

    In Malaysia, there are 81 (as on February 15, 2013) higher education institutions including satellite branches of the foreign universities. In northern part of the Peninsular Malaysia, AIMST University is the first private not-for-profit university and aims to become a premier private university in the country and the region. The workshop described in this article was designed to develop and enhance the capacity of academic staff-in-leadership-role for the University. This type of workshops may be a good method to enhance the leadership qualities of the head of each unit, department, school and faculty in each university.

    BACKGROUND: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused extraordinary disruptions to education systems globally, forcing a rapid switch from conventional to online education. Although some qualitative studies have been carried out exploring the online education experiences of nursing students and faculty members during the COVID-19 pandemic, to our knowledge, no study has used the Photovoice approach.

    OBJECTIVES: To explore the experiences of nursing students and faculty members as related to online education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    DESIGN: A descriptive qualitative design using Photovoice was adopted.

    SETTING: The study took place across five countries and one city in Southeast Asia (Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam, and Hong Kong).

    PARTICIPANTS: Fifty-two nursing students and twenty-eight nursing faculty members who participated in online education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

    METHODS: Each participant submitted one photo substantiated with written reflections. Data were analysed using thematic analysis. Ethical approval was obtained from institution-specific ethics boards.

    RESULTS: Three themes and eleven sub-themes emerged from the data. The three main themes were: 1) Psychological roadblocks to online education; 2) Developing resilience despite adversities; and 3) Online education: What worked and what did not.

    CONCLUSION: Through Photovoice, the reflections revealed that nursing students and faculty members were generally overwhelmed with the online education experience. At the same time, participants were satisfied with the flexibility and convenience, opportunities for professional and personal development and safety afforded by online education. However, concerns over academic integrity, practical skills and clinical competencies, engagement and participation, the duality of technology and social isolation out-shadowed the advantages. It is worthwhile to explore the concerns raised to enhance online education across the nursing curriculum.

    Considering the fact that publications serve as an important criterion to evaluate the scientific accomplishments of an individual within respective fields in academia, there has been an increasing trend to publish scientific articles whereby multiple authors are defined as primary, co-, or corresponding authors according to the roles performed. This article analyzes the authorship pattern in 4,561 papers (including 60 single-authored papers) from 1990 till 2020 of 94 academics who hold a position as professors and are affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at three different research universities in Malaysia. Only 708 papers (15.5% of 4,561 papers) were authored by less than three authors. In 3,080 papers (67.5% of 4,561 papers), those academics appeared as coauthors. Using different years as cutoff periods, it was observed that the appearance as coauthor in the papers had steeply risen around the years: 2006, 2007, 2008 and onwards. The increased number of authors in the multi-author papers and the appearance of the selected academics as coauthors reflect the extent of boosting of collaborative research in that period which corresponds to the adoption of the "publish or perish policy" by the Ministry of Higher Education in Malaysia.

    In a nursing programme, the main objective is to produce nursing graduates who can provide comprehensive care and treatment to the community. A good approach to the systematic design of a learning environment can lead to positive outcomes for graduates. The learning environment is more than student-teacher interaction, teaching and learning activities. Good physical structures and facilities provided by the university are important, too. Furthermore, the university must also be concerned about meeting students' psychosocial and emotional needs.     This study seeks to measure religiosity in an Islamic context and to assess its effects on the personal well-being of Muslims. The determinants of religiosity included under this research are prayer, beliefs, and worship. This research also attempts to examine the coping strategies Muslims use to deal with life problems and changes such as prayer, supplication, trust and reliance on God, remembrance of death, and concept of life after death. Today, many scales of religiosity are being put into use among Muslims. This study measures religiosity and its effects on the well-being of Muslim academicians. The researchers used 315 Muslim female of academic staff as respondents, working in Research Universities in the Klang Valley such as University of Malaya, National University and Putra University area of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Their ages ranged from 30 to 60 years. The results of this study show that there exists a positive yet significant correlation between personal well-being and religiosity. The well-being also shows significant positive correlations with beliefs and worship and prayer.
