OBJECTIVE: This study aimed to document the process of designing, developing, and validating the gamification, motivation, and real-time elements in the Gamified Real-time Video Observed Therapies (GRVOTS) mobile app.
METHODS: The modified nominal group technique via a panel of 11 experts was used to validate the presence of the gamification and motivation elements inside the app, which were assessed based on the percentage of agreement among the experts.
RESULTS: The GRVOTS mobile app, which can be used by patients, supervisors, and administrators, was successfully developed. For validation purposes, the gamification and motivation features of the app were validated as they achieved a total mean percentage of agreement of 97.95% (SD 2.51%), which was significantly higher than the minimum agreement score of 70% (P
METHODS: The preliminary version of IPM3P that is used to investigate the perception of Muslim adults with hearing impairment towards Islamic understanding and practice has been tested in this study. The preliminary version of IPM3P consists of three domains (obligation, practice, and difficulty) with 59 items in total. Four phases of validity and reliability testing involved were: i) Content validation, ii) Pretesting, face validity and proofreading, iii) Pilot study, and iv) Psychometric evaluation.
RESULTS: The final version of IPM3P consists of 36 items. The findings from the present study suggest that the final version of IPM3P has excellent psychometric properties manifested by: i) good content validity, ii) excellently pretested, iii) good face validity, iv) good construct validity shown by principal component analysis and convergent validity, and v) good discriminant validity showed by divergent validity.
CONCLUSION: IPM3P shows good potential to be used as a tool in investigating perception of Muslim adults towards Islamic understanding and practice.
OBJECTIVE: The present study aimed to determine the time at which the majority of patients achieve postdialysis dry weight using bioimpedance spectroscopy (BIS).
METHODS: A total of 220 HD patients were prospectively assessed for fluid overload using the Fresenius body composition monitor (BCM). BCM readings were taken at 30 and 45 min postdialysis.
RESULTS: Among the 220 patients included in this study, 120 (54.5%) achieved a euvolemic state at 30 min, and 25 (11.4%) achieved it at 45 min according to the BCM. In the multivariate analysis, vascular access other than arteriovenous fistula (AVF) (OR = 0.286, p value = 0.049) and cardiovascular disease (OR = 0.384, p value = 0.026) had a statistically significant negative association and receiving HD at Hospital Universiti Sains Malaysia (HUSM) (OR = 2.705, p value = 0.008) had a statistically significant positive association with achieving a euvolemic state at 30 min.
CONCLUSION: This suggests that assessing the hydration status at 45 min postdialysis in all patients or in those with identified risk factors for not achieving a euvolemic state at 30 min will provide a relatively accurate assessment for most patients.
RESULTS: The PFGE data was input into FPQuest software, and the dendrogram generated was studied for possible genetic relatedness among the isolates. All the isolates were found to belong to the Salmonella Enteritidis serotype with notable resistance to tetracycline, gentamycin, streptomycin, and sulfadimidine. The S. Enteritidis isolates tested predominantly subtyped into the ST11 and ST1925, which was found to be a single cell variant of ST11. The STs were found to occur in chicken meats, foods, and live chicken cloacal swabs, which may indicate the persistence of the bacteria in multiple foci.
CONCLUSION: The data demonstrate the presence of S. Enteritidis among chickens, indicating its preference and reservoir status for enteric Salmonella pathogens.
