    This study represents a pioneering effort to integrate geographic information systems (GIS) and ensemble machine learning methods to predict noise levels on a university campus. Three ensemble models including random forest (RF), gradient boosting (GB), and extreme gradient boosting (XGB) were developed to predict traffic noise based on data collected over a 4-week period at the Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) campus. Noise measurements were obtained during peak morning hours (7:30 to 9:30 a.m.) on weekdays within the UTM campus in Johor. Additional predictor variables, including data from the digital elevation model (DEM) and land use, were incorporated to capture the complex nonlinear relationships influencing noise levels. The models were optimized through hyperparameter tuning, resulting in high precision, as evidenced by performance metrics such as the coefficient of determination (R2), mean absolute error (MAE), and mean squared error (MSE). The XGB model emerged as the most accurate, with R2 = 0.96, MAE = 0.9, and MSE = 0.3. Noise maps generated using the inverse distance weighting (IDW) interpolation technique highlighted the spatial distribution of noise levels, classified into five classes considering WHO standards. The findings identified distance from roads, the number of light vehicles, and proximity to green areas as the most significant predictors. However, challenges remain in accurately predicting noise levels associated with other predictors. The outcomes of the study indicate the superior performance of the XGB model compared to the GB and RF models. The study recommends several measures to manage and control noise pollution on the UTM campus, including raising awareness, regulating and enforcing vehicle speed limits, reevaluating land use, installing sound insulation systems, and planting trees and vegetation buffer zones around and within educational buildings.

    The current study focuses on assessing the activity of the N-alkylated benzimidazole based cubosomal hydrogel (cubogel) for the topical treatment of burn wounds. The study involves the synthesis of six benzimidazole derivatives (1-6) and their characterization by FT-IR and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The further study involves the design and formation of nanoparticles known as cubosomes loaded with selected 1-benzyl-1-benzimidazole (API 6) and the development of a cubogel for the topical treatment of burn wounds. Cubosomes were prepared by the homogenization method, using glyceryl monooleate (GMO) as a lipid polymer and poloxamer 407 (P407) as a surfactant. Cubosomes undergo in vitro characterizations (measurement of particle size, zeta potential, polydispersity index (PDI), % entrapment efficiency, drug release in phosphate buffer saline of pH 6.8, and surface morphology by utilizing TEM (transmission electron microscopy). Formulation D3 (2.5% of GMO, 1% of P407, and 2.5% of PVA) emerged as the optimized formulation, displaying a minimum particle size (PS) of 129.9 ± 1 nm, entrapment efficiency (%EE) of 96.67 ± 0.89%, and a drug release of 86 ± 2.7% at 24 h. Carbopol 940 hydrogel was prepared and incorporated with the optimized formulation to prepare cubogel. This optimized cubogel provided 92.56 ± 0.014% in vitro drug release within 24 h. An in vivo histopathological study was conducted on an animal model (rabbit) to assess the efficacy of cubogel in wound healing and wound contraction. Then cubogel was compared with the commercially available creams Clotrimazole® and Polyfax®. The wound treated with newly developed cubogel has maximum wound contraction (96.70%) as compared to the standard creams. The findings revealed that the newly formulated cubogel was highly effective in treating burns, showing superior performance to commercial products without inducing side effects. Additionally, benzimidazole derivative loaded cubogel caused a sustained release for treating burn wounds without any bacterial infections. The current results further suggested phase 0 clinical trials.

    The convenience and cost-effectiveness offered by cloud computing have attracted a large customer base. In a cloud environment, the inclusion of the concept of virtualization requires careful management of resource utilization and energy consumption. With a rapidly increasing consumer base of cloud data centers, it faces an overwhelming influx of Virtual Machine (VM) requests. In cloud computing technology, the mapping of these requests onto the actual cloud hardware is known as VM placement which is a significant area of research. The article presents the Dragonfly Algorithm integrated with Modified Best Fit Decreasing (DA-MBFD) is proposed to minimize the overall power consumption and the migration count. DA-MBFD uses MBFD for ranking VMs based on their resource requirement, then uses the Minimization of Migration (MM) algorithm for hotspot detection followed by DA to optimize the replacement of VMs from the overutilized hosts. DA-MBFD is compared with a few of the other existing techniques to show its efficiency. The comparative analysis of DA-MBFD against E-ABC, E-MBFD, and MBFD-MM shows %improvement reflecting a significant reduction in power consumption 8.21 %, 8.6 %, 6.77 %, violations in service level agreement from 9.25 %, 6.98 %-7.86 % and number of migrations 6.65 %, 8.92 %, 7.02 %, respectively.

    The primary goal of this research is to investigate the relationship between social support and music performance anxiety in the context of social cognitive theory and stimulus-organization-response theory among music university students in China. The study involved both postgraduate and undergraduate students. The suggested framework consisted of three independent variables: parental support, teacher support, and peer support, two mediators: emotional intelligence and self-efficacy, and one dependent variable: music performance anxiety. A survey of 483 students was undertaken, and the data was analyzed using path analysis and structural equation modeling. The study discovered that all three forms of parental, teacher, and peer support were positively associated to both self-efficacy and emotional intelligence, with postgraduate students experiencing the strongest effects. Furthermore, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence had a negative significant effect on music performance anxiety, with the association being stronger among postgraduate students. Finally, self-efficacy and emotional intelligence emerged as significant mediators of the relationship between social support and music performance anxiety. These results add to our knowledge of the mechanisms by which social support influences music performance anxiety.

    Introduction: Breast cancer is a global health challenge with significant mortality, affecting millions worldwide. The current study is aimed at evaluating awareness and practices related to breast cancer screening, prevention, and treatment among the general public and physicians in Lahore, Pakistan, which has a significant incidence of breast cancer. Methodology: The current study adopted a cross-sectional study design conducted in Lahore, Pakistan, between March and August 2023, among 404 participants from the general public and 240 physicians. Data collection and evaluation involved the use of validated questionnaires, and both descriptive and inferential statistics were performed using SPSS Version 25. Result: In Lahore, Pakistan, breast cancer awareness among the public was low, with 80.2% unaware of its global prevalence, 65.3% believing not everyone is at risk, and only 42.1% recognizing symptoms. Females showed greater awareness (OR: 1.020, CI: 0.617-1.686, p = 0.002) and positive attitudes (OR: 2.711, CI: 1.478-6.478, p = 0.045), while the 18-29 age group had higher odds of positive practices (OR: 4.317, CI: 2.678-5.956, p = 0.004). Educational attainment significantly influences knowledge and attitudes. Only 13.9% practiced self-examination. Among physicians, 88.8% were confident in screenings, but patient fear (42.9%) and financial barriers (79.2%) hindered action. Physicians with FCPS qualifications had higher odds of awareness (OR: 1.550, CI: 1.130-2.117, p = 0.007), attitudes (OR: 1.500, CI: 1.050-2.150, p = 0.025), and practices (OR: 1.470, CI: 1.070-2.017, p = 0.020). Those with 11-20 years of experience also showed better awareness (OR: 1.400, CI: 1.050-1.868, p = 0.022) and attitudes (OR: 1.450, CI: 1.045-2.018, p = 0.029). Conclusion: In conclusion, breast cancer awareness among the general public is limited, highlighting the need for tailored education programs. Although most physicians show high awareness, challenges in patient communication and barriers, such as fear and financial constraints, must be addressed to improve screening uptake. These findings emphasize the importance of targeted interventions to enhance public awareness, screening practices, and physician-patient communication.

    The CYP33 family in Caenorhabditis elegans is integral to processes like xenobiotic detoxification, eicosanoid regulation, nanotoxicity response and spermatogenesis. Limited research on C. elegans CYP33 suggests its functions are similar to human CYP33, indicating conserved roles in metabolism and disease. This review examines C. elegans CYP33 enzymes, especially CYP-33E1 and CYP-33E2, and their human homologues, focusing on their roles in eicosanoid biosynthesis, xenobiotic metabolism, nanotoxicity and spermatogenesis. Understanding these enzymes enhances insights into cytochrome P450 biology, metabolism and cyp-associated diseases.

    Extra-articular deformities (EAD) can pose a challenge to surgeons during a total knee arthroplasty (TKA) surgery. Obtaining an acceptable post-operative hip-knee-ankle (HKA) angle may be difficult, especially in a limb with multiplanar deformities of both the femur and the tibia.  Our case is about a 66-year-old gentleman with a long-term deformity of his right lower limb secondary to malunion of the right femoral shaft and tibial shaft fractures. He initially presented with a right floating knee injury, 45 years ago, which was managed with conservative measures. He subsequently presented to us with ipsilateral knee osteoarthritis and underwent a robotic-assisted total knee arthroplasty surgery. Robotic- or computer-assisted total knee arthroplasty is an actively developing area and is gaining popularity among arthroplasty surgeons. In cases with severe extra-articular deformities such as in this case, robotic-assisted surgery can be superior to conventional surgery.

    Chromosomal rearrangement can disrupt gene function by interfering with coding sequences or their regulatory regions. The breakpoint in these rearrangements can pinpoint the disease-related gene's location. This paper presents two rare cases of chromosomal rearrangement involving chromosome 6 (6p24-25) and chromosome 14 (14q22-23). The first case involves a girl with hearing impairment, inheriting a balanced translocation of chromosomes 6 and 14 from her father. The second case describes a dysmorphic baby boy with congenital bilateral choanal atresia and a tertiary trisomy, involving a translocation between chromosome 6 (6p24) and chromosome 14 (14q22), resulting in a derivative chromosome (14) in addition to the normal complement of chromosomes 6 and 14. The boy's mother had a history of four recurrent miscarriages. However, the origin of this tertiary trisomy in the second case presented could not be delineated because the parents did not consent and declined their blood samples for karyotyping. Parental karyotyping and chromosomal analysis are crucial for investigating recurrent miscarriages, identifying genetic causes, guiding reproductive decisions, and improving successful pregnancy outcomes for affected couples.

    Background: There is a strong causal relationship between intimate partner violence and major depressive disorder, which partly endangers women's safety across the life course and potentially affects the development of future generations. The international community has placed a high priority on addressing the intimate partner violence and the resulting burden of mental illness. Data collection needs to be captured across the temporal trend and spatial distribution for major depressive disorder attributed to intimate partner violence, to reflect the priorities and expectations of survivors.Method: This research obtained raw disability-adjusted life years (DALYs) information for major depressive disorder attributed to intimate partner violence from the Global Burden of Disease 2019. Using estimated annual percentage change and two-way fixed effects models, a secondary spatio-temporal analysis of the age-standardized DALYs rate from 1990 to 2019 was performed.Results: In 2019, DALYs lost among women experiencing major depressive disorder (3.16 million) accounted for 37.18% of the DALYs lost worldwide due to intimate partner violence. The age-standardized DALYs rate of major depressive disorder attributed to intimate partner violence was 108.57 per 100,000. The highest was concentrated in the menopausal transition (45-55), with 133.61 per 100,000, and particularly distributed in Uganda (429.31 per 100,000). The early reproductive period (15-19) showed the increasing age-standardized DALYs rate from 1990 to 2019, which was mainly driven by Malaysia (3.73% per year). Furthermore, countries with higher initial levels of the age-standardized DALYs rate were growing faster than those with lower levels.Conclusions: The burden of major depressive disorder attributed to intimate partner violence showed biological and spatial inequality, prioritized intervention should be targeted at vulnerable stage women in their early reproductive period and menopausal transition. Combined political, socio-cultural as well as medical measures to prevent violence and treat major depressive disorder should be implemented and developed.

    The rail construction industry is notable for its large scale, substantial investment, extensive stakeholders involvement, long construction period, and intricate operation and technology. This industry is among the most dangerous due to the highest number of occupational accident cases worldwide. Therefore, it is crucial to analyse and identify the existing literature on occupational accident factors in rail construction. To address the research aim, the study identified the factors that contribute to occupational accidents using systematic review methodology. This systematic literature review adheres to the rigorous Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) 2020 statement. Relevant publications from the past 25 years were retrieved from Scopus, Web of Science (WoS), and Science Direct electronic databases. Through a meticulous review of 43 selected publications, five accident factor themes were discovered: worker, workplace, materials and equipment, organizational, and environmental influences. The detailed analysis of these themes has led to the identification of 19 specific sub-factors within these categories, providing a granular understanding of the intricate elements contributing to accidents. This study offers a foundational understanding of accident factors in the rail construction industry, paving the way for targeted OSH interventions aimed at preventing occupational accidents in the future.

    BACKGROUND: Angiography-derived fractional flow reserve (virtual FFR) has shown excellent diagnostic performance compared with wire-based FFR. However, virtual FFR pullback curves have not been validated yet.

    OBJECTIVES: To validate the accuracy of virtual FFR pullback curves compared to wire-based FFR pullbacks and to assess their clinical utility using patient-reported outcomes.

    METHODS: Pooled analysis of two prospective studies, including patients with hemodynamically significant (FFR ≤ 0.80) coronary artery disease (CAD). Virtual and wire-based FFR pullbacks were compared to assess the accuracy of virtual pullbacks to characterize CAD as focal or diffuse. Pullbacks were analyzed visually and quantitatively using the pullback pressure gradient (PPG). Patients underwent PCI, and the Seattle Angina Questionnaire (SAQ) was administered at 3-month follow-up.

    RESULTS: A total of 298 patients (300 vessels) with both virtual and wire-based pullbacks who underwent PCI were included in the analysis. The mean age was 61.8 ± 8.8, and 15% were female. The agreement on the visual adjudication of the CAD pattern was fair (Cohen's Kappa: 0.31, 95% confidence interval: 0.18-0.45). The mean PPG were 0.65 ± 0.18 from virtual pullbacks and 0.65 ± 0.13 from wire-based pullbacks (r = 0.68, mean difference 0, limits of agreement -0.27 to 0.28). At follow-up, patients with high virtual PPG (>0.67) had higher SAQ angina frequency scores (i.e., less angina) than those with low virtual PPG (SAQ scores 92.0 ± 14.3 vs. 85.5 ± 23.1, p = 0.022).

    CONCLUSION: Virtual FFR pullback curves showed moderate agreement with wire-based FFR pullbacks. Nonetheless, patients with focal disease based on virtual PPG reported greater improvement in angina after PCI.

    Regulating patients' no-show behavior is critical from the standpoints of sustainable medical services and operational efficiencies. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the patients' intention to make partial up-front payments at outpatient clinics. This was a cross-sectional study design introducing a self-administered questionnaire to 221 outpatients at a private health facility. The questionnaire measured the patient's demographic characteristics, perceived usefulness (PU), trust in the health facility, and intention to make upfront partial payments. Out of the total respondents, 57.4% were female. There were 34.8% Malays, 40.6% Chinese and 24.6% Indians. The majority (66.5%) of the respondents attained tertiary education. Nearly a third of the respondents (30.5%) reported an income between 3000 and 5000 Malaysian Ringgit (RM). Regarding payment mode, just more than half (51.1%) made self-payment, and 21.8% by guaranteed letter. A quarter (24.9%) waited more than 3 h for consultation and 59.6% visited the health facility more than 2 times in a year. Initial analysis showed that PU, trust, age, education, number of visits, and hours of waiting were significantly associated with the intention to make a partial payment.     OBJECTIVE: The goal of the present research was to evaluate the effectiveness of physical exercise intervention in enhancing psychological well-being and decreasing symptoms of depression among college students, adopting a systematic review and meta-analysis.

    METHODOLOGY: The study was performed by searching four databases (PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and the Cochrane Library) to determine randomized controlled trials (RCTs) exploring the impacts of physical exercise therapies among college students with symptoms of depression. The sequential execution of a meta-analyses, subgroup analyses, and publication bias analyses was accomplished utilizing the software package RevMan version 5.3.

    RESULTS: There were eight articles included. This research demonstrated a significant impact (d = -0.75, P < 0.05), indicating that physical exercise has a substantial impact on decreasing or mitigating depression. The subgroup analyses revealed that interventions involving physical exercise workouts lasting 12 weeks or longer (d = -0.93, P < 0.05), with physical exercise sessions lasting between 30 and 60 min (d = -0.77, P < 0.05), and with physical exercise performed minimum of three times a week (d = -0.90, P < 0.05) were the most effective in reducing symptoms of depression.

    CONCLUSION: Physical exercise interventions have a beneficial impact on reducing depression among college students. The optimal mode was discovered to be college students participating in each session for a duration of 30 to 60 min, at least three times per week, and for more than 12 weeks. College students are encouraged to cultivate a consistent and long-term physical exercise routine to sustain their physical and mental health.

    The gut microbiomes of Antarctic penguins are important for the fitness of the host birds and their chicks. The compositions of microbial communities in Antarctic penguin guts are strongly associated with the birds' diet, physiological adaptation and phylogeny. Whilst seasonal changes in food resources, distribution and population parameters of Antarctic penguins have been well addressed, little research is available on the stability or variability of penguin stomach microbiomes over time. Here, we focused on two Pygoscelis penguin species breeding sympatrically in the maritime Antarctic and analysed their stomach contents to assess whether penguin gut microbiota differed over three austral summer breeding seasons. We used a high-throughput DNA sequencing approach to study bacterial diversity in stomach regurgitates of Adélie (Pygoscelis adeliae) and chinstrap (Pygoscelis antarctica) penguins that have a similar foraging regime on Signy Island (South Orkney Islands). Our data revealed significant differences in bacterial alpha and beta diversity between the study seasons. We also identified bacterial genera that were significantly associated with specific breeding seasons, diet compositions, chick-rearing stages and sampling events. This study provides a baseline for establishing future monitoring of penguin gut microbiomes in a rapidly changing environment.

    Background: Human milk provided by healthy, well-nourished mothers represents the best food available for infants. Human milk is species-specific and recommended as the sole source of nutrition for the first 6 months of life and is an important food source until the infants reach 2 years of life. Unlike infant formula, which has a standardized composition, human milk composition varies among and within women. Aim: While many studies of human milk composition have been conducted, none have been done among the Orang Asli people in Malaysia. Hence, this study protocol is designed to determine the human milk composition of the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia and how the transition of culture, nutrition, and different lifestyle experiences will affect the nutrient content of their milk. Methods: Quantitative (interviewer-administered questionnaire) and qualitative (focus group discussion) approaches will be employed in this study and in addition, laboratory works will also be carried out to analyze the nutrient composition of the milk samples collected from various Orang Asli subethnic groups in Peninsular Malaysia. Conclusion: Standardized, multipopulation studies of human milk composition are sorely needed to create a rigorous, comprehensive reference inclusive of nutrients and other factors. The establishment of any dietary parameters positively affecting the nutrient content of human milk may help design healthcare strategies in Malaysia to improve the quality of human milk and therefore the infants' health status.

    Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by impaired social interaction and communication, as well as the occurrence of stereotyped and repetitive behaviors. Previous studies have provided solid evidence of dysregulated immune system in ASD; however, limited studies have investigated autoantibody profiles in individuals with ASD. This study aims to screen plasma autoantibodies in a well-defined cohort of young children with ASD (n = 100) and their matched controls (n = 60) utilizing a high-throughput KoRectly Expressed (KREX) i-Ome protein-array technology. We identified differential protein expression of 16 autoantibodies in ASD, which were correlated with differential gene expression of these markers in independent ASD cohorts. Meanwhile, we identified a distinct list of 33 autoantibodies associated with ASD severity; several of which were correlated with maternal age and birth weight in ASD. In addition, we found dysregulated numbers of circulating B cells and activated HLADR+ B cells in ASD, which were correlated with altered levels of several autoantibodies. Further in-depth analysis of B cell subpopulations revealed an increased frequency of activated naïve B cells in ASD, as well as an association of resting naïve B cells and transitional B cells with ASD severity. Pathway enrichment analysis revealed disrupted MAPK signaling in ASD, suggesting a potential relevance of this pathway to altered autoantibodies and B cell dysfunction in ASD.     This phenomenological study investigates the experiences and perceptions of interdisciplinary competencies for voice performance in higher education in China through semistructured interviews with four vocal education experts. Participants were selected via selective sampling based on their teaching experience, theoretical research, location, and professional development contributions. Coding and thematic analyses identify key interdisciplinary domains crucial for voice performers. Physiological and anatomical principles, informed by life sciences, are fundamental for vocal health and technique. Incorporating historical and cultural knowledge enriches performers' interpretive depth and emotional expression. Digital technologies further modernize vocal training and prepare students for contemporary performance environments. The findings illuminate that Chinese interdisciplinary competency in vocal performance has unique characteristics, emphasizing cultural literacy and the fusion of Italian bel canto with Chinese Indigenous vocalization methods, but it has its limitations. This study contributes to the global discourse on higher education voice performance studies by presenting the lived experiences of Chinese voice professors in higher education, which can inspire and inform educational initiatives worldwide.

    BACKGROUND: Maternal feeding practices play a major role in children's dietary intakes. However, there is limited data on the associations between trajectories of dietary patterns (DPs) and patterns of maternal feeding practices during early childhood.

    METHODS: Using data from a multi-ethnic Asian cohort study, namely the Growing Up in Singapore Towards healthy Outcomes (GUSTO), dietary intakes were measured using Food Frequency Questionnaires in children at 18 months, 5 and 7 years of age. Maternal feeding practices were assessed using validated questionnaires at 15 months, 3 and 5 years of age. Principal component analysis was used to derive 2 major DPs at all time-points as well as patterns of maternal feeding practices. Group-based trajectory modelling was used to identify trajectory groups for the derived DPs. Multivariable logistic regression examined associations between patterns of maternal feeding practices and DP trajectory groups.

    RESULTS: Two DPs, namely the 'healthy' and 'less healthy' were consistently derived at 18 months, 5 and 7 years of age. From each DP, 2 stable DP trajectory groups were further identified between 18 months and 7 years of age. For the 'healthy' DP trajectory, majority of the children (Group 1) formed a consistent average adherence trajectory group (91.8%) while the remaining children (Group 2) showed a higher but decreasing adherence (8.2%) to this DP. For the 'less healthy' DP trajectory, most children (Group 1) formed a consistent average adherence trajectory (95.5%), while the remainder (Group 2) showed consistent higher adherence to this 'less healthy' DP (4.5%). Two patterns of maternal feeding practices were derived and labelled as 'structured with autonomy support' and 'coercive control', respectively, at ages 15 months, 3 and 5 years. Children whose mothers showed high adherence to the structured with autonomy support feeding practices at age 5 years were significantly more likely to be associated with the higher but decreasing 'healthy' DP trajectory group [OR = 3.62 (95% CI: 1.64, 7.99)].

    CONCLUSIONS: A small number of children in this multi-ethnic study showed high adherence to the 'healthy' or 'less healthy' DP trajectory groups, respectively, while the majority showed average adherence to either of these trajectories. The positive association between structured with autonomy support maternal feeding practices and higher z-scores for the healthy DP trajectory highlights the importance of guiding parents on appropriate feeding practices.

    Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is linked to various factors causing cardiovascular diseases, with uncontrolled postprandial hyperglycemia being a direct contributor. α-Glucosidase inhibitors (AGIs) aid in reducing postprandial hyperglycemia, potentially mitigating cardiovascular risks. In order to synthesize novel chemical scaffolds with possible α-glucosidase inhibition activity, a series of novel soritin sulfonamide derivatives were synthesized. The soritin hydrazide was treated with various aryl sulfonyl chlorides to obtain targeted compounds (1-16). Findings suggested that all compounds have better α-glucosidase inhibition compared to standard drugs, acarbose (2187.00 ± 1.25 μM) and 1-deoxynojirimycin (334.90 ± 1.10 μM), with IC50 values ranging from 3.81 ± 1.67 μM to 265.40 ± 1.58 μM. The most potent analog was Compound 13, a trichloro phenyl substituted compound, with IC50 value of 3.81 ± 1.67 μM. Structure-activity relationship (SAR) showed that introducing an additional chlorine group into the parent nucleus increases the potency. The docking studies validated that Compound 13 established hydrogen bonds with the active site residues Asp214, Glu276, and Asp349, while being further stabilized by hydrophobic interactions, providing an explanation for its high potency.
