    PURPOSE: Inflammatory bowel diseases (IBDs) are global health problems that are associated with immune regulation, but clinical IBDs treatment is currently inadequate. Effective preventive or therapeutic methods for immune disorders rely on controlling the function of immune cells. Isosteviol sodium (STV-Na) has antioxidant activity, but the therapeutic effect of STV-Na against IBD remain undocumented. Herein, we investigated the therapeutic effect of STV-Na in mice models with IBDs.

    METHODS: Mice received 3.5% DSS for 7 days to establish IBD models. Intraperitoneal STV-Na was given 2 days before DSS and lasted for 9 days. Commercially available drugs used in treating IBDs (5-aminosalicylic acid, dexamethasone, and infliximab) were used as positive controls. Samples were collected 7 days after colitis induction. Histopathological score, biochemical parameters, molecular biology methods, and metabolomics were used for evaluating the therapeutic effect of STV-Na.

    RESULTS: Our data revealed that STV-Na could significantly alleviate colon inflammation in mice with colitis. Specifically, STV-Na treatment improved body weight loss, increased colon length, decreased histology scores, and restored the hematological parameters of mice with colitis. The untargeted metabolomics analysis revealed that metabolic profiles were restored by STV-Na treatment. Furthermore, STV-Na therapy suppressed the number of CD68 macrophages and F4/80 cell infiltration. And STV-Na suppressed M1 and M2 macrophage numbers along with the mRNA expressions of proinflammatory cytokines. Moreover, STV-Na administration increased the number of regulatory T (Treg) cells while decreasing Th1/Th2/Th17 cell counts in the spleen. Additionally, STV-Na treatment restored intestinal barrier disruption in DSS-triggered colitis tissues by ameliorating the TJ proteins, increasing goblet cell proportions, and mucin protein production, and decreasing the permeability to FITC-dextran, which was accompanied by decreased plasma LPS and DAO contents.

    CONCLUSION: These results indicate that STV-Na can ameliorate colitis by modulating immune responses along with metabolic reprogramming, and could therefore be a promising therapeutic strategy for IBDs.

    Over the last few decades, there have been several global outbreaks of severe respiratory infections. The causes of these outbreaks were coronaviruses that had infected birds, mammals and humans. The outbreaks predominantly caused respiratory tract and gastrointestinal tract symptoms and other mild to very severe clinical signs. The current coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19) outbreak, caused by the novel severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), is a rapidly spreading illness affecting millions of people worldwide. Among the countries most affected by the disease are the United States of America (USA), India, Brazil, and Russia, with France recording the highest infection, morbidity, and mortality rates. Since early January 2021, thousands of articles have been published on COVID-19. Most of these articles were consistent with the reports on the mode of transmission, spread, duration, and severity of the sickness. Thus, this review comprehensively discusses the most critical aspects of COVID-19, including etiology, epidemiology, pathogenesis, clinical signs, transmission, pathological changes, diagnosis, treatment, prevention and control, and vaccination.

    Two new species of Discorhabdella are described from Sagami Bay, Japan. Discorhabdella has been suggested to have an ancient Tethyan origin according to discovery of their unique pseudoastrose acanthostyles from late Eocene to Oligocene deposits. This is the first record of the genus from the northwest Pacific and first record of the family Crambeidae from Japan. Discorhabdellahispida sp. nov. is distinctive within the genus by possession of special sigmoid microscleres and C-shaped isochelae with short alae. Discorhabdellamisakiensis sp. nov. is characterized by short choanosomal subtylostyles, and their length overlapped with that of the ectosomal subtylostyles. Only one other species, Discorhabdellatuberosocapitata (Topsent, 1890), has the same spicule composition. However, all spicule types are larger in D.tuberosocapitata than those of D.misakiensis sp. nov., and the shape of the isochelae is different: the alae are more widely opened in D.tuberosocapitata. An identification key to species of the genus Discorhabdella is also provided. The discovery of two new species from warm temperate northwest Pacific extends the geographical distribution of the genus Discorhabdella.

    Quantum computing is a computer development technology that uses quantum mechanics to perform the operations of data and information. It is an advanced technology, yet the quantum channel is used to transmit the quantum information which is sensitive to the environment interaction. Quantum error correction is a hybrid between quantum mechanics and the classical theory of error-correcting codes that are concerned with the fundamental problem of communication, and/or information storage, in the presence of noise. The interruption made by the interaction makes transmission error during the quantum channel qubit. Hence, a quantum error correction code is needed to protect the qubit from errors that can be caused by decoherence and other quantum noise. In this paper, the digital system design of the quantum error correction code is discussed. Three designs used qubit codes, and nine-qubit codes were explained. The systems were designed and configured for encoding and decoding nine-qubit error correction codes. For comparison, a modified circuit is also designed by adding Hadamard gates.

    Background: In a previous study, we demonstrated that the accumulation of parenting stress during prolonged school closures and restrictions on daily activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Japan indicates the need for mental health intervention for parents at higher risk of parenting stress. However, few studies have focused on parenting stress in other Asian countries, although they have experienced higher numbers of infections. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether parenting stress among caregivers increased across Asia due to school closures and restrictions on activities during the COVID-19 pandemic and to examine whether there were any country-specific, cross-country, or cross-regional risk factors for increased parenting stress. Methods: We conducted an online survey immediately after the number of new cases in India significantly increased (September-November 2020). We measured parenting stress, anxiety, and fear associated with the COVID-19 crisis, as evaluated by the Parenting Stress Index, Short-Form (PSI-SF), and the Coronavirus Anxiety Scale (CAS), across three Asian countries-India (n = 142), Malaysia (n = 69), and Japan (n = 182)-in addition to the United States (n = 203). We also investigated whether respondents had adverse childhood experiences (ACE) as a risk factor for parenting stress. Results: For all countries, we found significant increases in participants' current parenting stress levels, compared to what they recalled regarding their lives before COVID-19-related restrictions and school closures were enacted. Textual analysis qualitatively identified common terms related to parenting stress across all countries. We also found a statistical model that indicated ACE in parents was a critical risk factor for higher parenting stress via increasing anxiety and fear related to the pandemic. Conclusion: These results indicate the need to improve the mental health of caregivers who are at risk for higher levels of parenting stress during the COVID-19 pandemic in Asian countries as well as Western countries. These results indicate that there is a need to improve the mental health of caregivers who are at risk for higher levels of parenting stress during the COVID-19 pandemic globally.

    Background: This dosimetric study compared lateral wedge with medial only cardiac shielding (LEMONADE) technique, for left chest wall (LCW) irradiation against three other commonly used techniques.

    Materials and methods: Dosimetric parameters of 22 consecutive LBC patients treated using the P1 (LEMONADE technique) were compared with 3 other virtually reconstructed plans : no cardiac shielding with paired wedges; P2 (paired wedges and medial only Y-direction shielding) and P3 (paired wedges and bilateral Y-direction shielding).

    Results: P1 showed better target volume (TV) coverage with the mean 90% isodose coverage of 85.59% ± 5.44 compared to 78.90% ± 8.59 and 74.22% ± 9.50 for P2 and P3, respectively. Compared to no cardiac shielding, for a 4.65% drop in TV coverage the V26Gy of heart dropped from 6.68% to a negligible 0.85% for P1. TV receiving < 30Gy is also significantly lesser for P1 compared to P2 and P3 (5.42% vs 10.64% and 15.8%), whilst there is a small difference of 2.75% between no cardiac shielding and P1.

    Conclusion: With the improvement in BC survival rate, cardiac toxicity associated with adjuvant irradiation for LBC is a major concern. P1 (LEMONADE) technique has a good compromise between cardiac sparing and target coverage and should suffice for most LCW irradiations. Furthermore, the LEMONADE technique is a simple, reproducible and involves fast planning for cardiac sparing, which is ideal for under-resourced departments with heavy workload.

    Deforestation is a major threat to terrestrial tropical ecosystems, particularly in Southeast Asia where human activities have dramatic consequences for the survival of many species. However, responses of species to anthropogenic impact are highly variable. In order to establish effective conservation strategies, it is critical to determine a species' ability to persist in degraded habitats. Here, we used camera trapping data to provide the first insights into the temporal and spatial distribution of southern pig-tailed macaques (Macaca nemestrina, listed as 'Vulnerable' by the IUCN) across intact and degraded forest habitats in Peninsular Malaysia, with a particular focus on the effects of clear-cutting and selective logging on macaque occupancy. Specifically, we found a 10% decline in macaque site occupancy in the highly degraded Pasoh Forest Reserve from 2013 to 2017. This may be strongly linked to the macaques' sensitivity to intensive disturbance through clear-cutting, which significantly increased the probability that M. nemestrina became locally extinct at a previously occupied site. However, we found no clear relationship between moderate disturbance, i.e., selective logging, and the macaques' local extinction probability or site occupancy in the Pasoh Forest Reserve and Belum-Temengor Forest Complex. Further, an identical age and sex structure of macaques in selectively logged and completely undisturbed habitat types within the Belum-Temengor Forest Complex indicated that the macaques did not show increased mortality or declining birth rates when exposed to selective logging. Overall, this suggests that low to moderately disturbed forests may still constitute valuable habitats that support viable populations of M. nemestrina, and thus need to be protected against further degradation. Our results emphasize the significance of population monitoring through camera trapping for understanding the ability of threatened species to cope with anthropogenic disturbance. This can inform species management plans and facilitate the development of effective conservation measures to protect biodiversity.

    Background: Intravascular lithotripsy is a new method used to treat calcified coronary lesions (CCLs). Percutaneous coronary intervention of CCLs has conventionally been classified as a complex procedure. In the majority of calcified cases, atherectomy is required for sufficient plaque modification prior to stent implantation. Intravascular lithotripsy has been shown to be safe and effective in clinical trials, but as worldwide usage increases, cases of complications are beginning to emerge.

    Case summary: We describe a 71-year-old woman, who after an episode of non-ST-elevation acute coronary syndrome underwent coronary angiography. The culprit vessel was identified to be a severely stenosed left anterior descending artery which was also heavily calcified and tortuous. Intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) was employed for calcium modification prior to stent implantation, but the IVL balloon ruptured during shockwave lithotripsy, resulting in coronary artery dissection. Subsequent management steps and stent deployment resulted in favourable angiographic results. Our findings are further detailed on optical coherence tomography, demonstrating certain features which might predispose to IVL balloon rupture.

    Discussion: We discuss the mechanism of action during intravascular lithotripsy, and how the shockwaves from the lithotripter modify calcified lesions, whilst keeping soft tissue unharmed. Results from clinical trials and multiple real-world studies have shown that complication rates are low. This case report aims to illustrate how the rupture of an intravascular lithotripsy balloon can result in coronary artery dissection. Optical coherence tomography can help in identifying potential anatomical features which may precede such complications.

    OBJECTIVE: Pain severity and opioid requirements in the postoperative period show substantial and clinically significant inter-patient variation due mainly to factors such as age, surgery type, and duration. Genetic factors have not been adequately assessed except for the neuronal OPRM1 rs1799971 and COMT rs4680, whereas the contribution of innate immune signaling pathway genetics has seldom been investigated.

    SETTING: Hospital surgical ward.

    SUBJECTS: Women (107 Indian, 184 Malay, and 750 Han Chinese) undergoing total hysterectomy surgery.

    METHODS: Morphine consumption, preoperative pain, and postoperative pain were evaluated in relation to genetic variability comprising 19 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 14 genes involved in glial activation, inflammatory signaling, and neuronal regulation, plus OPRM1 (1 SNP) and COMT (3 SNPs).

    RESULTS: Pre- and postoperative pain and age were associated with increased and decreased morphine consumption, respectively. In Chinese patients, only 8% of the variability in consumption could be explained by these nongenetic and genetic (BDNF, IL1B, IL6R, CRP, OPRM1, COMT, MYD88) factors. However, in Indian patients, 41% of morphine consumption variability could be explained by age (explaining <3%) and variants in OPRM1 rs1799971, CRP rs2794521, TLR4 rs4986790, IL2 rs2069762, COMT rs4818, TGFB1 rs1800469, and IL6R rs8192284 without controlling for postoperative pain.

    CONCLUSIONS: This is the highest known value reported for genetic contributions (38%) to morphine use in the acute postoperative pain setting. Our findings highlight the need to incorporate both genetic and nongenetic factors and consider ethnicity-dependent and nonadditive genotypic models in the assessment of factors that contribute to variability in opioid use.

    Background: Several studies indicate a high prevalence of depression around the world during the period of the COVID-19 pandemic. Using a valid instrument to capture the depression of an individual in this situation is both important and timely. The present study aims to evaluate the psychometric properties of the Persian version of the Center for Epidemiological Studies Depression Scale (CES-D) among the public during the COVID-19 pandemic in Iran. Method: This is a cross-sectional study that was conducted in the Iranian population (n = 600) from April to July 2020. A two-part online form was used: sociodemographic characteristics and depression items (CES-D). The construct validity and internal consistency reliability of the scale were evaluated. Result: The results of the exploratory factor analysis illustrated two factors with 43.35% of the total variance of the depression were explained. Confirmatory factor analysis indicated that this model fits well. Internal consistency reliability was evaluated, and it was acceptable. Conclusion: The findings demonstrated that, in the Iranian sample, this depression scale yielded two factors (somatic and positive affects) solutions with suitable psychometric properties.

    BACKGROUND: Morbid obesity (BMI > 35 kg/m2 with comorbid conditions) is present in 25 - 35% of acute decompensated heart failure (AHF) patients. Prevalence of HF increases with duration of morbid obesity from 30% at 15 years to over 90% at 30 years. There is a need to develop pragmatic therapies that address the unique physical and mental challenges faced by obese AHF patients. Siddha is 5,000 year old Tamil Medicine using yoga and mind-body methods towards higher consciousness. Hunger gratitude Experience (HUGE) is intuitive Siddha fasting method which may improve in-hospital AHF outcomes independent of weight reduction.

    CASE SUMMARY: We present 5 cases of morbidly obese patients with cardiorenal syndrome (CRS) that began intermittent fasting either during their AHF hospitalization or in the outpatient setting for refractory symptoms despite hospitalization. Initiation of fasting correlated with reduction of respiratory distress and edema as well as improvements in psychological wellbeing and functional capacity.

    DISCUSSION: Siddha fasting mediates hemodynamic and anti-inflammatory effects through natural ketosis and psychological benefits through empowerment in AHF. Potential role of fasting in reducing myocardial workload, coronary steal, angina, volume overload, and CRS needs further study in cardiac patients.

    Background: In recent times, digitization is gaining importance in different domains of knowledge such as agriculture, medicine, recommendation platforms, the Internet of Things (IoT), and weather forecasting. In agriculture, crop yield estimation is essential for improving productivity and decision-making processes such as financial market forecasting, and addressing food security issues. The main objective of the article is to predict and improve the accuracy of crop yield forecasting using hybrid machine learning (ML) algorithms. Methods: This article proposes hybrid ML algorithms that use specialized ensembling methods such as stacked generalization, gradient boosting, random forest, and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) regression. Stacked generalization is a new model which learns how to best combine the predictions from two or more models trained on the dataset. To demonstrate the applications of the proposed algorithm, aerial-intel datasets from the github data science repository are used. Results: Based on the experimental results done on the agricultural data, the following observations have been made. The performance of the individual algorithm and hybrid ML algorithms are compared using cross-validation to identify the most promising performers for the agricultural dataset.  The accuracy of random forest regressor, gradient boosted tree regression, and stacked generalization ensemble methods are 87.71%, 86.98%, and 88.89% respectively. Conclusions: The proposed stacked generalization ML algorithm statistically outperforms with an accuracy of 88.89% and hence demonstrates that the proposed approach is an effective algorithm for predicting crop yield. The system also gives fast and accurate responses to the farmers.

    BACKGROUND: Women living with HIV in Indonesia encounter challenging obstacles to healthcare, which is exacerbated by COVID-19. Access is difficult as there are limited numbers of poorly supported healthcare providers. Women also face significant stigma when disclosing their HIV-status.

    OBJECTIVES: Our main purpose is to give a voice to disempowered women living with HIV, by normalising the discussion of HIV, to empower health professionals to better understand the issues faced by women living with HIV, and develop improved treatment practices.

    DESIGN: Our project was guided by a Feminist Participatory Action Research (FPAR) framework. FPAR refers to 'a participatory and action-oriented approach to research that centres gender and women's experiences both theoretically and practically'. It creates meaningful participation for women throughout the research process, ensuring a collective critical consciousness that challenges oppressive attitudes, beliefs, and practices that may be deeply embedded in society.

    METHOD: Purposive sampling and a thematic analysis was applied to focus group discussions with 20 women living with HIV and 20 women without HIV in Palembang, South Sumatra.

    RESULTS: When women living with HIV face a difficult decision, do they disclose their status knowing that they may face stigma and even a refusal to be treated; or do they conceal their status and face not receiving the right care? In this article, we explore the stories of women living with HIV as they seek medical treatment during the COVID-19 pandemic. We show that there is no optimal solution for women as they lose whether they disclose their HIV status or not.

    CONCLUSION: Women's stories around HIV and COVID-19 intersect with conditions such as poverty and discrimination, as well as embedded gender systems, creating overlapping barriers to treatment. Government must challenge this culture by introducing a comprehensive sex and HIV education programme. This would normalise discussions of HIV-related topics, leading to improved health outcomes.

    Kaposi's sarcoma is the most common AIDS-associated malignancy. Kaposi's sarcoma in the oral cavity and oropharynx present as a macular, papular, or nodular lesion on the palate, gingiva, or tongue which may look pink, reddish, or purplish. Kaposi's sarcoma of the tonsils is relatively less common compared with other sites in the oral cavity and oropharynx. We report a case of Kaposi's sarcoma of tonsil with profuse bleeding requiring emergency tracheostomy to protect the airway followed by tonsillectomy to control the bleeding. Our initial diagnosis was hemangioma or a pyogenic granuloma. The patient tested positive for a retroviral infection and the histopathology report was compatible with Kaposi's sarcoma. Antiretroviral therapy and radiotherapy were given after stabilizing the patient. Kaposi's sarcoma of tonsils is relatively uncommon and it is unusual to cause profuse bleeding. Various treatment options are available but there are no standard treatment protocols. Treatments options depend on the site, size, stage, and immune status of the patient.

    Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify correlations between the STOP-Bang score and upper airway dimensions using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans.

    Materials and Methods: This study included 101 subjects (46 men, 55 women) from dental patients who received CBCT scans from 2014 to 2020. The patients were divided into those with a low obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA) risk (STOP-Bang score<3) and those with an intermediate to high OSA risk (STOP-Bang score≥3), and their upper airway dimensions were then analysed on CBCT scans. Comparisons between the low-risk and intermediate/high-risk groups were conducted using the t-test and the Mann-Whitney test. Correlations between the total STOP-Bang score and upper airway dimension parameters were established using Spearman correlation coefficients. P values≤0.05 were considered to indicate statistical significance.

    Results: Intermediate/high-risk subjects were predominantly male and over 50 years of age, with a higher body mass index. They had significantly longer upper airways, smaller average airway volumes, and smaller widths and antero-posterior dimensions of the narrowest upper airway segment. The total upper airway length was positively correlated with the STOP-Bang score (r s= 0.278). The average volume (r s= -0.203) and width of the narrowest upper airway segment (r s= -0.305) were both negatively correlated with STOP-Bang scores.

    Conclusion: Subjects with higher STOP-Bang scores had upper airways that were longer, narrower, and smaller in terms of average volume. CBCT scans taken for dental patients as part of investigative procedures could be correlated with STOP-Bang scores to screen for patients at risk of OSA.

    Protein misfolding occurs due to the loss of native protein structure and adopts an abnormal structure, wherein the misfolded proteins accumulate and form aggregates, which result in the formation of amyloid fibrils that are associated with neurodegenerative diseases. Amyloid beta (Aβ42) aggregation or amyloidosis is contemplated as a unique hallmark characteristic of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Due to aberrant accrual and aggregation of Aβ42 in extracellular space, the formation of senile plaques is found in AD patients. These senile plaques occur usually in the cognitive and memory region of the brain, enfeebles neurodegeneration, hinders the signaling between synapse, and disrupts neuronal functioning. In recent years, herbal compounds are identified and characterized for their potential as Aβ42 inhibitors. Thus, understanding their structure and molecular mechanics can provide an incredible finding in AD therapeutics. To describe the structure-based molecular studies in the rational designing of drugs against amyloid fibrils, we examined various herbal compounds that belong to prenylflavonoids. The present study characterizes the trends we identified at molecular docking studies and dynamics simulation where we observed stronger binding orientation of bavachalcone, bavachin, and neobavaisoflavone with the amyloid-beta (Aβ42) fibril structure. Hence, we could postulate that these herbal compounds could be potential inhibitors of Aβ42 fibrils; these anti-aggregation agents need to be considered in treating AD.

    The combined effect of design control factors on the response variables gives valuable information for geometric design optimization of the compound parabolic concentrator. This study presents the data related to the statistical modeling and analysis of variance for aperture width and height of a low concentration symmetric compound parabolic concentrator designed for photovoltaic applications. The design matrix was generated using the response surface modeling approach. The geometric design equations of the proposed concentrator were developed and solved analytically using MATLAB. The empirical models were developed to establish relationships between the control factors and response variables of the proposed system. The analysis of variance was conducted for two significant response variables. The developed statistical models can be used to predict the selected response variables within the permissible range. The presented data can be used for statistical modeling and design optimization of the two-dimensional symmetric compound parabolic concentrator.

    We examine the relationship between financial sector development and the shadow economy in Indonesia from 1980 to 2020. We estimate the size of Indonesia's shadow economy using the "Modified Cash to Deposits Ratio" approach. We then construct a long-term model using the size of Indonesia's shadow economy as the dependent variable. We set financial sector development as the main independent variable in our model. We use per capita real gross domestic product, the misery index, and foreign direct investment as control variables in our model. We find that financial sector development and the size of Indonesia's shadow economy have a nonlinear relationship that shows an inverted U-shape curve. The size of the shadow economy expands at the early stages of financial sector development to a turning point and decreases when financial sector development increases further. We also find that foreign direct investment curtails Indonesia's shadow economy. Additionally, increases in income expand Indonesia's shadow economy while misery index shows ambiguous results. We suggest the Indonesian authorities widen access for micro, small, and medium firms to the credit markets and enhance existing programs to reduce poverty and narrow the income gap in the country. These efforts help to narrow the size of Indonesia's shadow economy.

    The highest plateau on Earth, Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, contains thousands of lakes with broad salinity and diverse and unique microbial communities. However, little is known about their co-occurring viruses. Herein, we identify 4,560 viral Operational Taxonomic Units (vOTUs) from six viromes of three saline lakes on Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, with less than 1% that could be classified. Most of the predicted vOTUs were associated with the dominant bacterial and archaeal phyla. Virus-encoded auxiliary metabolic genes suggest that viruses influence microbial metabolisms of carbon, nitrogen, sulfur, and lipid; the antibiotic resistance mediation; and their salinity adaption. The six viromes clustered together with the ice core viromes and bathypelagic ocean viromes and might represent a new viral habitat. This study has revealed the unique characteristics and potential ecological roles of DNA viromes in the lakes of the highest plateau and established a foundation for the recognition of the viral roles in plateau lake ecosystems.

    The clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeat (CRISPR)/CRISPR-associated protein 9 (Cas9) system has emerged as a powerful tool for the precise editing of plant genomes for crop improvement. Rapid in vitro methods for the determination of guide RNA (gRNA) cleavage efficiency and an efficient DNA delivery system is essential for gene editing. However, we lack an efficient gene-editing system for palm species. In this study, we described the development of a transient oil palm protoplast assay to rapidly evaluate the cleavage efficiency of CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis and the generation of stable transformed oil palms using biolistic particle bombardment in immature embryos. Using the phytoene desaturase (EgPDS) gene, we found cleavage frequency of up to 25.49% in electro-transfected protoplast, which enables the production of transgenic oil palm shoots exhibiting chimeric albino phenotypes as a result of DNA insertions, deletions (InDels), and nucleotide substitutions, with a mutation efficiency of 62.5-83.33%. We further validated the mutagenesis efficiency and specificity of the CRISPR/Cas9 system in oil palm by targeting the brassinosteroid-insensitive 1 (EgBRI1) gene, which resulted in nucleotide substitutions in EgBRI1 with premature necrosis phenotype in oil palm transgenic shoots and stunted phenotype resulting from DNA InDels. Taken together, our results showed that effective and efficient editing of genes using the CRISPR/Cas9 system can be achieved in oil palm by optimizing the selection of efficient gRNA and DNA delivery methods. This newly designed strategy will enable new routes for the genetic improvement in oil palm and related species.
