    To address the diverse preferred learning styles, one of the oft-cited recommendations for educatorsis to tailor teaching instructions accordingly. This pedagogy however, lacks scientific evidences.Furthermore, in medical curriculum, tailoring instructions according to preferred learning styles isnot pragmatic. This is because different subjects and in different settings matter may be best deliveredin specific delivery mode. Furthermore, patients’ presentations are often multi-sensorial. As such, theonus is on the students themselves to adjust the amount of learning efforts they put in according totheir preferred or not preferred learning styles.

    Objective: Critical appraisal is a process of systematically examining research evidence to assess its validity, results and relevance before using it to form a decision. A basic knowledge in statistic and epidemiology is important among postgraduate students in psychiatry to acquire the skills for appraising clinical research evidence. This is a descriptive study that attempts to look into the level of knowledge among the postgraduate psychiatry students in
    terms of statistic and epidemiology. Methods: A total of 31 postgraduate students in their second (N= 26) and third year (N=5) Master of Medicine (Psychiatry) and Master of Psychological Medicine from three different universities, namely: Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Sains Malaysia participated in this research. The participants were asked to answer 7 questions within 30 minutes. The passing mark for this
    critical review paper is set at 25 out of 50. Results: Overall, only 32.3% passed the mock critical review paper. About 67.7% of the students passed their epidemiology component and only 19.4% passed the statistic component. Conclusion: We found poor performance in basic statistics among psychiatric trainees which highlights the need for further improvement in the subject’s training.

    This paper presents observation made during a brief observation of the PBL programme at School of Medical Sciences (SMS), Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). It provides a classification for the type of PBL offered at USM highlights the main aspects of the tutorial process there and reviews the experience of students and tutors engaged in PBL at this SMS. The paper proposes a series of recommendations with regards to the planned 2014 curricular reform.

    An e-learning website is very useful, especially for students and lecturers, as this platform is very efficient for blended learning. Thus, the main objective of this research was to determine the user expectations of e-learning websites of comprehensive universities through localisation based on user preferences. This research showed how users interact with e-learning websites and indicated the patterns that can be used as standard guidelines to design the best e-learning websites. It was found localisation of e-learning websites was scarce and slow interaction with e-learning websites has inconvenienced users. Additionally, too many web objects on the user interface of e-learning websites have a tendency to confuse users. A mixed method approach was used I this study, namely content analysis (qualitative) and localisation (quantitative). Thus, this research contributes to knowledge by guiding users on localising their web objects according to their preferences and hopefully allow for an easy and quick information search for e-learning websites.

    A medical narrative is a physician-patient dialogue, where the physician listens carefully to fragments of the patient’s story, while interpreting their hidden messages and word sequences, as well as observing their gestures and body language. This aspect of the therapeutic relationship contributes to deciphering
    symptoms which are not apparent in the conventional interview and contributes to a much broader perspective
    of illness and health. The arts and the humanities have always been inseparable from each other in medical education. In this biomedical revolution, the humanities are needed now more than ever before to bridge the divides that separate the physician from the patient, from self, from colleagues, and society. Narrative Medicine (NM) which aims to treat the whole person, and not just the illness, is an emerging patient-centred discipline in medical schools that can humanise medical care and promote empathy. NM helps medical students cope with the suffering of their patients as well as their own emotions by reducing the anxiety and threat that come with illness, thereby providing a psychologically-sound foundation for the development of self-reflection and empathy. NM facilitates medical students’ adoption of patients’ perspectives with the hope of ultimately leading to more humane, ethical and empathetic healthcare for their patients. The discipline of NM is critically examined in this review paper from the perspective of external and internal stakeholders.

    – Feedback is one of the most influential tools in the learning of writing. However, there are
    divided views on its impact on ESL writing. This article reviews past studies to explore the various
    types of written feedback and its effectiveness. Firstly, it discusses the feedback role in ESL students’
    writing, followed by the types of feedback. Furthermore, it highlights the type of feedback which is
    useful and effective in the writing process. Next, it presents the different views on the effectiveness of
    feedback in ESL writing due to the type of feedback and the way it is given. Lastly, it concludes that
    feedback acts as a scaffold by providing a meaningful and impactful learning to students.

    The existence of the gap between the expectation of culinary students and the realities of the job
    market has led the students to face the obstacles to entering or continuing their career in the same
    industry. As such, entrepreneurship is one of the best approaches in educating culinary students to
    prepare for any possible after graduation. However, there are no guidelines for determining and
    measuring the entrepreneurial level of culinary students. Therefore, this research aims to identify the
    elements of entrepreneurship in culinary. The results of this research is a culinary entrepreneurial
    framework. Side of this research is to build a measurement instrument of culinary entrepreneurship
    level and to produce culinary entrepreneurship profiles for culinary students. This research uses
    qualitative method in the first phase through document analysis and interviews with graduates and
    culinary entrepreneurs. At the end of the study, it will acquire a culinary entrepreneurial framework
    that is also used to produce an entrepreneurship measurement instrument in the second phase of
    research.

    Currently, the development of information technology and the increase in the number of nursing students occur drastically. Based on this premise, the purpose of this article is to shed light into the future development of curriculum for the nursing field. Philosophy is considered one of the most important components of both education system and curriculum, because the educational philosophies reflect the social, economic and political aspects of a society, in which they are applied. As an educator, understanding the philosophy to be adapted in the curriculum and learning process is important, to provide a framework for the best performance of both the teacher and the student. In conclusion, it is important to implement the philosophy of curriculum in the education program as each philosophy aids in the principles and guidelines of the learning process. Globally, most programs are usually based on the philosophy related to that program. Therefore, as an educator, we must know the philosophical development of the curriculum of education, so that we are able to analyse and choose which is appropriate.

    1. Using ordinary clinical thermometers resting oral temperatures were taken in 4,463 schoolgirls between the ages of 6 and 20 years. 2. From 2,500 readings in clinically healthy and apyrexial girls charts were made to show temperature variations. 3. It was demonstrated that in the age group 6-10 the mean temperature was 99.5 F. That in the age group 10-14 the mean temperature was 99.3 F and in the age group 14-20 the mean temperature was 99.1 F. 4. For all age groups the majority fell within the limit of 98.9 – 100 F. 5. It is not uncommon to encounter a temperature of over 100º and up to 100.8º of no pathological significance. 6. Temperature readings are not a reliable guide in the clinical assessment of children unless the above considerations are borne in mind.

    In a Malay school, 150 school boys, all clinically positive for scabies, were divided into three approximately equal groups. The first group was treated with 0.5 per cent γ BHC [' Gammexane'] in coconut oil, the second with 20 per cent emulsion of benzyl benzoate and the third, as a control, with coconut oil. Each group received two treatments with a week's interval between. One week after the second treatment the patients were re-examined for clinical evidence of scabies. The percentage of cases recorded as cured after the two treatments was 48 for γ BHC, 39 for benzyl benzoate and 9 for coconut oil. [This paper is a good example of the danger of estimating the chemotherapeutic value of sarcopticidal drugs on purely clinical evidence.]

    Statistics plays a vital role in various spheres of life. Choosing the right statistical analysis is one of the most crucial aspects in statistics. Some researchers especially those who have minimal statistical background, are often having difficulties in choosing the right statistical analysis for their study. Inappropriate analysis may produce misleading results at the end of the study. Hence, mySTATS Tracker was created as an alternative tool to assist the researcher in determining the right statistical analysis. The aim of this study was to gauge the effectiveness of using mySTATS Tracker in identifying the most appropriate statistical analysis based on the supplied input. In addition, this study intended to determine whether there was significant difference in score based on gender and faculties. The difference in the perception towards the usefulness and effectiveness of this application based on faculties was also investigated. A sample of 55 undergraduate students with various background have participated in this study. The sample of students were asked to answer a set of questions with (posttest) and without (pre-test) using mySTATS Tracker. Then, the score obtained was recorded and analysed. Gap analysis and Independent t-test were applied in achieving the objectives of the study. The results showed that there was a significant difference in scores between pre-test and post-test, p < 0.05. It could be concluded that the users scored significantly higher and answered the questions in a significantly shorter time using mySTATS Tracker compared to without using it. The study also found that there was a significant difference in score based on gender and faculties, p < 0.05. Furthermore, there was a significant difference in the perception of the usefulness and effectiveness of this application based on respective faculties. In overall, mySTATS Tracker has received a positive feedback from the potential users. This study has proven that mySTATS Tracker is a good alternative solution in suggesting the right statistical analysis to the users

    Improving upon the quality of teaching by teaching staff at all educational institutions is oil very significant objective. Eva luation of teaching performed by individuals at such institutions would be instrumental in assessing the quality of such teaching and a tool towards its improvement. In this article, one scheme for teaching evaluation by students and another by peers are proposed and discussed. Assessment by students may provide contrasting results to those obtained from peers. For a "just and fair'" overalJ assessment of one's teaching., it is recommended that students' evaluation would be combined with those of peers. Results of such an evaluation of teaching should be perceived as being valuable in providing feedback to the teacher and can be utilized for many purposes by academicians and administrators.     INTRODUCTION: The communication skills of clinicians are very crucial in providing better health outcomes for patients. Therefore, this study aimed to assess undergraduate dental students' communication skills in relation to their demographics and clinical setting using a three-perspective approach; the student, the patient and the clinical instructor perspective.

    METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted using validated modified-communication tools; Patient Communication Assessment Instruments (PCAI), Student Communication Assessment Instruments (SCAI) and Clinical Communication Assessment Instruments (CCAI) which included four communication domains. One hundred and seventy-six undergraduate clinical year students were recruited in this study whereby each of them was assessed by a clinical instructor and a randomly selected patient in two settings: Dental Health Education (DHE) and Comprehensive Care (CC) clinic.

    BACKGROUND: This systematic review aims to review research manuscripts during the COVID-19 pandemic that focus on the relationship between self-efficacy, adversity quotient, COVID-19-related stress and academic performance on a range of undergraduate student.

    METHODS: The authors will perform comprehensive searches of published studies in electronic databases such as PMC, PubMed, Scopus, Cochrane Library and Web of Science by using the following search terms: 'self-efficacy' AND 'adversity quotient' AND 'stress' AND 'academic performance' AND 'student' AND 'COVID-19 pandemic'. Only full-text articles in English language are included. Two reviewers will independently conduct the article selection, data extraction, and quality assessment. Any possible disagreement will be resolved by discussion, and one arbitrator (NA) will adjudicate unresolved disagreements.

    RESULTS: This review will provide an updated overview of investigating the relationship between self-efficacy, adversity quotient, COVID-19-related stress and academic performance on a range of undergraduate student during the COVID-19 pandemic. Ultimately, based on this systematic review, we will recommend the direction for future research.

    CONCLUSION: The result of the study may help the researchers to find an updated overview of various studies in related topic.

    ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION: Data from published studies will be used. Therefore, ethical approval is not required prior to this systematic review. The results will be published in a peer-reviewed journal.

    Attitudes towards assisted death activities among medical students, the future health gatekeepers, are scarce and controversial. The aims of this study were to explore attitudes on euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide among final year medical students in Athens, to investigate potential differences in attitudes between male and female medical students and to review worldwide attitudes of medical students regarding assisted death activities. A 20- item questionnaire was used. The total number of participants was 251 (mean age 24.7±1.8 years). 52.0% and 69.7% of the respondents were for the acceptance of euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide, respectively. Women's attitudes were more often influenced by religious convictions as well as by the fact that there is a risk that physician-assisted suicide might be misused with certain disadvantaged groups. On the other hand, men more often believed that a request for physician-assisted suicide from a terminally ill patient is prima-facie evidence of a mental disorder, usually depression. Concerning attitudes towards euthanasia among medical students in various countries there are contradictory results. In USA, the Netherlands, Hungary and Switzerland most of the students supported euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. However, in many other countries such as Norway, Sweden, Yugoslavia, Italy, Germany, Sudan, Malaysia and Puerto Rico most students expressed negative positions regarding euthanasia and physician assisted suicide.
