    The effective recovery of the immobilized enzymes using magnetic carriers has led to growing interest in this technology. The objective of this research was to evaluate the efficiency of immobilized laccase on magnetized multiwall carbon nanotubes (m-MWCNTs) in terms of stability and reusability. Laccases were efficiently adsorbed onto magnetized multiwall carbon nanotubes (m-MWCNTs) synthesized using water. The concentration of 7 mg laccase/mL was found to be ideal for immobilization. The optimal activity of both free and immobilized laccases was observed at pH 5, while for the latter, the optimal temperature was shifted from 40 to 50 °C. Compared to the free laccase, the immobilized laccase exhibited a greater range of stability at more extreme temperatures. At the fourth cycle of reactions, the immobilized laccase exhibited more than 60% relative activity in terms of reusability. Based on the fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) peak at 2921 cm-1, saccharification of paddy straw using immobilized laccase verified lignin degradation. The easy recovery of the immobilized laccase on m-MWCNTs lends credence to its potential use in biomass hydrolysis.

    Adsorption is one of the most efficient methods for remediating industrial recalcitrant wastewater due to its simple design and low investment cost. However, the conventional adsorbents used in adsorption have several limitations, including high cost, low removal rates, secondary waste generation, and low regeneration ability. Hence, the focus of the research has shifted to developing alternative low-cost green adsorbents from renewable resources such as biomass. In this regard, the recent progress in the modification of biomass-derived adsorbents, which are rich in cellulosic content, through a variety of techniques, including chemical, physical, and thermal processes, has been critically reviewed in this paper. In addition, the practical applications of raw and modified biomass-based adsorbents for the treatment of industrial wastewater are discussed extensively. In a nutshell, the adsorption mechanism, particularly for real wastewater, and the effects of various modifications on biomass-based adsorbents have yet to be thoroughly studied, despite the extensive research efforts devoted to their innovation. Therefore, this review provides insight into future research needed in wastewater treatment utilizing biomass-based adsorbents, as well as the possibility of commercializing biomass-based adsorbents into viable products.

    The profound changes brought about by informatization and digitalization have given rise to the user-centered innovation concept, and value co-creation by enterprises has become an inevitable trend. It has become a pressing issue for scholars to analyze the mechanism of consumer participation in the value co-creation of innovative enterprises. In this paper, by establishing an evolutionary game model between consumers and innovative enterprises, we analyze in depth the mechanism of consumer participation in the value co-creation of innovative enterprises. The results show that the initial cooperation probability between consumers and innovative enterprises directly affects their strategic choices; the establishment of reward mechanisms makes consumers more inclined to choose active participation in value co-creation strategies; as the probability of non-cooperation between the two parties being reported increases, the probability of consumers and innovative enterprises choosing cooperation also increases. Studying the mechanism of consumer participation in the value co-creation of innovative enterprises has essential theoretical and practical significance for enterprises to achieve value creation, enhance competitiveness, and promote innovation. This study not only enriches and develops relevant theories but also provides guidance and support for the practice of enterprises, promoting sustainable development and successful co-creation.

    On February 26, 2018 and July 24, 2021, the Chinese government respectively issued two significant regulatory policies to address the problems caused by off-campus training institutions in terms of students' extra-curricular and family financial burdens. These policies have had a tremendous and far-reaching impact on the off-campus training industry in China. With the help of these two events, we explored the role of industry-level regulatory policies in shaping and forming organizational culture. This paper adopts a text analysis method, combined with the dimensions of the Denison Organizational Culture Survey (DOCS) and MAXQDA 18 software, to obtain data on corporate culture. Then, the approaches of regression discontinuity in time (RDiT) and regression discontinuity (RD) designs with multiple cutoffs are used to estimate the policy treatment effect. This empirical research suggests that regulatory policies have a significant impact on corporate culture. Moreover, regulatory policies of varying degrees of strictness have differential effects on different dimensions of corporate culture. The research findings contribute to the theories of corporate culture and can guide enterprises to evaluate the impact of policies on corporate culture more clearly, thereby enabling them to make wiser operation decisions.

    INTRODUCTION: Malaria is a vector-borne disease that initially manifests as fever, headache, and chills. The illness could progress to more severe conditions, including lethargy, impaired consciousness, convulsions, shortness of breath, blood in urine, jaundice, and haemorrhage if left untreated. The risk of contracting malaria is considerably heightened in specific occupational settings, particularly among forest rangers, following frequent exposure to natural habitats. Consequently, advancing the understanding of malaria and emphasising how specific occupational environments (including those of forest rangers) contribute to disease risk and management is imperative.

    OBJECTIVE: The present study aims to determine the factors associated with malaria infection among forest rangers by systematically reviewing electronic articles from three databases (EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate).

    METHODS: The current review was prepared based on the updated preferred reporting items for systematic reviews and meta-analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. First, three independent reviewers screened the titles and abstracts of the data collected. The information was then stored in Endnote20 based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The articles were critically appraised with the mixed methods appraisal tool (MMAT) to assess their quality.

    RESULT: A total of 103, 31, and 51 articles from EBSCOhost, ScienceDirect, and ResearchGate, respectively, were selected, resulting in 185 unique hits. Nevertheless, only 63 full-text publications were assessed following a rigorous selection screening, from which only five were included in the final review. The studies revealed that several factors contribute to malaria infection among forest rangers. The parameters were classified into sociodemographic, individual, and living condition-related.

    CONCLUSION: A better understanding of malaria progresses and identifying its potential risk factors is essential to impact worker well-being. The findings might be utilised to improve malaria infection prevention programme implementations, hence maximising their success. Pre-employment and regular health screenings could also aid in evaluating and identifying potential risks for malaria infection among forest rangers.

    One of the world's challenging energy issues is introducing practical and affordable technology for organosulfur removal in fuel. Adsorptive desulfurization (ADS) can address this issue if highly effective activated carbon (AC) derived from industrial waste with excellent textural properties is used. In this study, the derived ACs from glycerin pitch loaded with P and Fe (AC/P and AC/Fe) were used as adsorbents for the ADS of model fuel oils, such as dibenzothiophene (DBT) at mild operating conditions. Under the optimized experimental conditions, 0.3 g of adsorbent dosage, 60 min reaction time, 30 °C temperature, and pH 4, the maximal DBT removal of 96.28 and 43.64%, respectively, for AC/P and AC/Fe was realized. The results indicated that the phosphorus-doped AC/P increases the selectivity of the ADS mechanism for DBT removal. Kinetic investigations disclosed that the adsorption process follows second-pseudo-order kinetics and the Langmuir adsorption isotherm model. The adsorbents remained active for five successive reuses, indicating their robust real-world applications. The electrochemical properties of the fabricated carbon electrodes were analyzed via cyclic voltammetry by coating the ACs with polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) as a binder. The transition-metal-doped AC/Fe, though exhibiting 5 times lower surface area, showed the highest specific capacitance at a scan rate of 5 mVs-1 (0.65 μF cm-2). Similarly, the extended AC:PTFE capacitor at a 10% binder ratio offered the maximum capacitance value (1.13 μF cm-2). The synthesized ACs demonstrated potential application as an electrode material, and hence glycerin pitch could be a low-cost precursor to improve the feasibility of commercial production of AC.

    Nanocellulose (CNF) has emerged as a promising alternative to synthetic petroleum-based polymers, but the conventional preparation process involves multiple tedious steps, heavily dependent on chemical input, and proves cost-inefficient. This study presented an, in situ ultrasound-assisted extraction using deep eutectic solvent (DES) based on choline chloride and oxalic acid for more facile production of CNF from raw durian husk fibers. FESEM analysis confirmed the successful extraction of web-like nanofibril structure with width size ranging from 18 to 26 nm. Chemical composition analysis and FTIR revealed the selective removal of lignin and hemicellulose from the raw fiber. As compared to post-ultrasound treatment, in situ ultrasound-assisted extraction consistently outperforms, yielding a higher CNF yield with finer fiber width and significantly reduced lignin content. Integrating this eco-friendly in situ ultrasonication-assisted one-pot extraction method with a 7.5 min interval yielded the highest CNF yield of 58.22 % with minimal lignin content. The superior delignification ability achieved through the proposed in situ ultrasound-assisted protocol surpasses the individual efficacy of DES and ultrasonication processes, neither of which yielded CNF in our experimental setup. This single-step fabrication process significantly reduces chemical usage and streamlines the production steps yielding web-structured CNF that is ideal for sustainable application in membrane and separator.

    In the pursuit of alternatives for conventional diesel, sourced from non-renewable fossil fuel, biodiesel has gained attentions for its intrinsic benefits. However, the commercial production process for biodiesel is still not sufficiently competitive. This review analyses microalgal lipid, one of the important sources of biodiesel, and its cultivation techniques with recent developments in the technical aspects. In fact, the microalgal lipids are the third generation feedstock, used for biodiesel production after its benefits outweigh that of edible vegetable oils (first generation) and non-edible oils (second generation). The critical factors influencing microalgal growth and its lipid production and accumulation are also discussed. Following that is the internal enhancement for cellular lipid production through genetic engineering. Moreover, the microalgae cultivation data modelling was also rationalized, with a specific focus on growth kinetic models that allow for the prediction and optimization of lipid production. Finally, the machine learning and environmental impact analysis are as well presented as important aspects to consider in fulfilling the prime objective of commercial sustainability to produce microalgal biodiesel.

    Solar-driven photothermal conversion can produce clean water from dye wastewater while leaving the dye in the evaporation medium. Herein, a biomass-based composite hydrogel via down-fiber carbon (DFC) aerogel modified with chitosan-polyvinyl alcohol (CS-PVA) hydrogel was designed to address the aforementioned problem. The CS-PVA@DFC hydrogel integrated the capacity of simultaneous clean water production/dye adsorption during the day and continuous dye adsorption during the night. Furthermore, the modification of the CS-PVA hydrogel endowed the composite hydrogel with enhanced compression stress of 190.07 kPa (76.03 times that of DFC aerogel of 2.50 kPa) and impressive resilient recovery. Moreover, the CS-PVA@DFC hydrogel possessed solar light absorption of 99.56 % and strengthened water replenishment capacity due to the high porosity and CS-PVA hydrophilic network structure. The CS-PVA@DFC hydrogel demonstrated a stable, high evaporation rate of 2.34 kg·m-2·h-1 and simultaneous dye adsorption capacity of 70.39 % for treating methyl orange dye solution within 5 h. Additionally, the 24-h outdoor test showed that the CS-PVA@DFC hydrogel possessed excellent clean water production capacity during the daytime (reaching 4.17 kg·m-2·h-1 at 1:00p.m.) and continuous satisfactory dye adsorption capacity all day (89.68 %). These findings will inspire researchers seeking opportunities to improve the mechanical properties of aerogel and its application for treating wastewater, especially wastewater with harmful dyes.

    Cardiovascular diagnostics relies heavily on the ECG (ECG), which reveals significant information about heart rhythm and function. Despite their significance, traditional ECG measures employing electrodes have limitations. As a result of extended electrode attachments, patients may experience skin irritation or pain, and motion artifacts may interfere with signal accuracy. Additionally, ECG monitoring usually requires highly trained professionals and specialized equipment, which increases the treatment's complexity and cost. In critical care scenarios, such as continuous monitoring of hospitalized patients, wearable sensors for collecting ECG data may be difficult to use. Although there are issues with ECG, it remains a valuable tool for diagnosing and monitoring cardiac disorders due to its non-invasive nature and the detailed information it provides about the heart. The goal of this study is to present an innovative method for generating continuous ECG waveforms from non-contact radar data by using Deep Learning. The method can eliminate the need for invasive or wearable biosensors and expensive equipment to collect ECGs. In this paper, we propose the MultiResLinkNet, a one-dimensional convolutional neural network (1D CNN) model for generating ECG signals from radar waveforms. With the help of a publicly accessible radar benchmark dataset, an end-to-end DL architecture is trained and assessed. There are six ports of raw radar data in this dataset, along with ground truth physiological signals collected from 30 participants in five distinct scenarios: Resting, Valsalva, Apnea, Tilt-up, and Tilt-down. By using strong temporal and spectral measurements, we assessed our proposed framework's ability to convert ECG data from Radar signals in three distinct scenarios, namely Resting, Valsalva, and Apnea (RVA). ECG segmentation performed better by MultiResLinkNet than by state-of-the-art networks in both combined and individual cases. As a result of the simulations, the resting, valsalva, and RVA scenarios showed the highest average temporal values, respectively: 66.09523 ± 19.33, 60.13625 ± 21.92, and 61.86265 ± 21.37. In addition, it exhibited the highest spectral correlation values (82.4388 ± 18.42 (Resting), 77.05186 ± 23.26 (Valsalva), 74.65785 ± 23.17 (Apnea), and 79.96201 ± 20.82 (RVA)), along with minimal temporal and spectral errors in almost every case. The qualitative evaluation revealed strong similarities between generated and actual ECG waveforms. As a result of our method of forecasting ECG patterns from remote radar data, we can monitor high-risk patients, especially those undergoing surgery.

    BACKGROUND: Asia consists of diverse nations with extremely variable health care systems. Integrated real-world data (RWD) research warehouses provide vast interconnected data sets that uphold statistical rigor. Yet, their intricate details remain underexplored, restricting their broader applications.

    OBJECTIVE: Building on our previous research that analyzed integrated RWD warehouses in India, Thailand, and Taiwan, this study extends the research to 7 distinct health care systems: Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Singapore, and Vietnam. We aimed to map the evolving landscape of RWD, preferences for methodologies, and database use and archetype the health systems based on existing intrinsic capability for RWD generation.

    METHODS: A systematic scoping review methodology was used, centering on contemporary English literature on PubMed (search date: May 9, 2023). Rigorous screening as defined by eligibility criteria identified RWD studies from multiple health care facilities in at least 1 of the 7 target Asian nations. Point estimates and their associated errors were determined for the data collected from eligible studies.

    RESULTS: Of the 1483 real-world evidence citations identified on May 9, 2023, a total of 369 (24.9%) fulfilled the requirements for data extraction and subsequent analysis. Singapore, Hong Kong, and Malaysia contributed to ≥100 publications, with each country marked by a higher proportion of single-country studies at 51% (80/157), 66.2% (86/130), and 50% (50/100), respectively, and were classified as solo scholars. Indonesia, Pakistan, Vietnam, and the Philippines had fewer publications and a higher proportion of cross-country collaboration studies (CCCSs) at 79% (26/33), 58% (18/31), 74% (20/27), and 86% (19/22), respectively, and were classified as global collaborators. Collaboration with countries outside the 7 target nations appeared in 84.2% to 97.7% of the CCCSs of each nation. Among target nations, Singapore and Malaysia emerged as preferred research partners for other nations. From 2018 to 2023, most nations showed an increasing trend in study numbers, with Vietnam (24.5%) and Pakistan (21.2%) leading the growth; the only exception was the Philippines, which declined by -14.5%. Clinical registry databases were predominant across all CCCSs from every target nation. For single-country studies, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines favored clinical registries; Singapore had a balanced use of clinical registries and electronic medical or health records, whereas Hong Kong, Pakistan, and Vietnam leaned toward electronic medical or health records. Overall, 89.9% (310/345) of the studies took >2 years from completion to publication.

    CONCLUSIONS: The observed variations in contemporary RWD publications across the 7 nations in Asia exemplify distinct research landscapes across nations that are partially explained by their diverse economic, clinical, and research settings. Nevertheless, recognizing these variations is pivotal for fostering tailored, synergistic strategies that amplify RWD's potential in guiding future health care research and policy decisions.

    Achalasia is characterised by incomplete relaxation of the lower oesophageal sphincter and aberrant oesophageal peristaltic activity resulting in impaired oesophageal emptying. This rare condition in pregnancy is unique as both the disease and its treatment are associated with fetomaternal risks and complications. A woman in her early 30s, gravida 3 para 2 at 35 weeks' pregnancy with suspected oesophageal achalasia, presented with shortness of breath, cough and fever following frequent bouts of vomiting and fluid regurgitation. She was diagnosed with aspiration pneumonia complicated by severe metabolic acidosis, malnutrition syndrome and fetal growth restriction. Following stabilisation of the acute clinical problems, delivery was expedited via caesarean section. Postpartum endoscopy confirmed the diagnosis of achalasia as per initial suspicion. Definitive surgery was performed several months later after optimisation of the patient's nutritional status. This case illustrates the life-threatening complications of achalasia in pregnancy.

    Dengue is a mosquito-borne viral disease which causes significant morbidity and mortality each year. Previous research has proposed several mechanisms of pathogenicity that mainly involve the dengue virus and host humoral immunity. However, innate immune cells, such as neutrophils, may also play an important role in dengue, albeit a much less defined role. In this review, we discuss the emerging roles of neutrophils in dengue and their involvement in pathologies associated with severe dengue. We also describe the potential use of several neutrophil proteins as biomarkers for severe dengue. These studies suggest that neutrophils are important players in dengue, and a better understanding of neutrophil-dengue biology is urgently needed.

    BACKGROUND: Preterm birth (PTB) contributes to nearly 11% of all deliveries in the world. The majority of spontaneous preterm birth (sPTB) remains unexplained. Risk factors include abnormal body mass index (BMI), short cervical length, comorbidities and many more. However, there is limited study on the association between body mass index, cervical length and preterm birth in Malaysia among low-risk women. Hence, we aim to examine the relationship between body mass index, cervical length and the risk of spontaneous preterm birth.

    METHOD: In this prospective cohort study, pregnant women between 16 and 24 weeks who fulfilled the criteria were recruited. Women with history of preterm birth were excluded. Demographic and clinical data (age, BMI, ethnicity, education level and parity) were obtained. Cervical length was measured using transvaginal scan. Patients were then followed up till delivery to determine their delivery gestation and outcome of delivery.

    RESULTS: Out of 153 women who participated in this study, 146 women had cervical length of more than 30 mm, six had cervical length between 25 mm and 30 mm and one had cervical length of 24 mm. There were nine (9) cases of sPTB, with all of them being late preterm with normal midtrimester cervical length. Almost half of them (44%) were overweight/obese. A significant association was found between age, cervical length, and parity compared to BMI. Nevertheless, no significant association was seen between the BMI and risk of sPTB.

    CONCLUSION: This study demonstrates a higher BMI is associated with longer cervical length, but it is not necessarily protective against sPTB. Hence, we concluded there is a limited role in cervical length screening among low-risk women regardless of their BMI in predicting sPTB.

    BACKGROUND: Mammographic density (MD) has been shown to be a strong and independent risk factor for breast cancer in women of European and Asian descent. However, the majority of Asian studies to date have used BI-RADS as the scoring method and none have evaluated area and volumetric densities in the same cohort of women. This study aims to compare the association of MD measured by two automated methods with the risk of breast cancer in Asian women, and to investigate if the association is different for premenopausal and postmenopausal women.

    METHODS: In this case-control study of 531 cases and 2297 controls, we evaluated the association of area-based MD measures and volumetric-based MD measures with breast cancer risk in Asian women using conditional logistic regression analysis, adjusting for relevant confounders. The corresponding association by menopausal status were assessed using unconditional logistic regression.

    RESULTS: We found that both area and volume-based MD measures were associated with breast cancer risk. Strongest associations were observed for percent densities (OR (95% CI) was 2.06 (1.42-2.99) for percent dense area and 2.21 (1.44-3.39) for percent dense volume, comparing women in highest density quartile with those in the lowest quartile). The corresponding associations were significant in postmenopausal but not premenopausal women (premenopausal versus postmenopausal were 1.59 (0.95-2.67) and 1.89 (1.22-2.96) for percent dense area and 1.24 (0.70-2.22) and 1.96 (1.19-3.27) for percent dense volume). However, the odds ratios were not statistically different by menopausal status [p difference = 0.782 for percent dense area and 0.486 for percent dense volume].

    CONCLUSIONS: This study confirms the associations of mammographic density measured by both area and volumetric methods and breast cancer risk in Asian women. Stronger associations were observed for percent dense area and percent dense volume, and strongest effects were seen in postmenopausal individuals.

    Porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (PRRSV) causes a highly transmissible disease of significant concern in the pig industry. Previous studies have demonstrated that the XM-2020 strain (a lineage 1.8 PRRSV IA/2012/NADC30) can induce special hemorrhagic injury in the small intestines. However, the specific mechanism underlying this injurious effect remains incompletely understood. In this study, we examined the pathogenic properties of XM-2020 and YC-2020 strains (a lineage 1.5 PRRSV IA/2014/NADC34) in piglets. Animal pathogenic tests revealed that with either Lineage 1 PRRSVs strains XM-2020 or YC-2020 demonstrated pronounced intestinal hemorrhage and suppression of peripheral immunological organs, comparing to JXA1 infection. Transcriptome analysis of diseased small intestines unveiled that PRRSV infection stimulated oxidative and inflammatory reactions. Remarkably, we also observed activation of the complement system alongside a notable down-regulation of complement and coagulation cascade pathways in the Lineage 1 PRRSVs infection group. Based on these findings, we propose that the primary mechanism driving the hemorrhagic injury of the small intestine caused by Lineage 1 PRRSVs is the suppression of complement and coagulation cascades resulting from immunosuppression. This discovery deepens our understanding of the pathogenicity of PRRSV in the small intestine and provides promising ways out for the development of innovative strategies aimed at controlling PRRSV.

    In this study, biochar derived from chestnut shells was synthesized through pyrolysis at varying temperatures from 300 °C to 900 °C. The study unveiled that the pyrolysis temperature is pivotal in defining the physical and chemical attributes of biochar, notably its adsorption capabilities and its role in activating peracetic acid (PAA) for the efficient removal of acetaminophen (APAP) from aquatic environments. Notably, the biochar processed at 900 °C, referred to as CN900, demonstrated an exceptional adsorption efficiency of 55.8 mg g-1, significantly outperforming its counterparts produced at lower temperatures (CN300, CN500, and CN700). This enhanced performance of CN900 is attributed to its increased surface area, improved micro-porosity, and a greater abundance of oxygen-containing functional groups, which are a consequence of the elevated pyrolysis temperature. These oxygen-rich functional groups, such as carbonyls, play a crucial role in facilitating the decomposition of the O-O bond in PAA, leading to the generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) through electron transfer mechanisms. This investigation contributes to the development of sustainable and cost-effective materials for water purification, underscoring the potential of chestnut shell-derived biochar as an efficient adsorbent and catalyst for PAA activation, thereby offering a viable solution for environmental cleanup efforts.

    Spinal cord stimulation (SCS) offers an alternative treatment for refractory pain resulting from various etiologies. Generally, SCS electrodes are inserted in an anterograde fashion, moving from caudal to rostral direction. However, there are instances where anterograde placement is unfeasible due to technical limitations. We present the use of retrograde surgical electrode placement in SCS for a patient with extensive epidural fibrosis at the site intended for electrode insertion. A 48-year-old female suffering from refractory neuropathic pain caused from injuries to the conus medullaris and cauda equina opted for SCS. During the SCS trial procedure, challenges emerged when attempting percutaneous electrode insertion at the site of a prior T12 laminectomy. However, the trial stimulation resulted in significant pain relief. For the permanent placement of the stimulator, utilizing a surgical electrode centered at T11 vertebral level, a considerable amount of epidural fibrosis was encountered at the entry of the spine, particularly at the T12 vertebral level. To avoid dural injury and ensure accurate electrode positioning, a retrograde technique for surgical electrode was employed via partial laminectomies at the T9-T10 level. The final electrode positioning was in accordance with the preoperative plan, well-centered at the T11 vertebral level. The patient experienced sustained relief from neuropathic pain over the long term. Retrograde epidural SCS is a suitable option for cases characterized by extensive epidural fibrosis resulting from a previous spinal surgery or when the anterograde placement of the electrode is unattainable due to aberrant vertebral anatomy.

    Background The sexual well-being of youths is crucial as it establishes the foundation for their sexual health throughout their lives. Malaysia's Ministry of Health (MOH) mainly delivers sexual reproductive health (SRH) services. Besides MOH, the National Population Family Development Board (NPFDB), under the purview of the Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development and Federation of Reproductive Health Association Malaysia, works closely with MOH to ensure the delivery of SRH information and services. Despite the availability of SRH services in Malaysia, it is uncertain whether youths are aware of and utilize these services. This study aims to identify factors that affect the utilization of SRH services among youths aged 18-24 years in Malaysia. Methodology This web-based, cross-sectional study was conducted from March 2022 to June 2022 using a self-administered pre-tested questionnaire. Andersen's Behavioral Model of Health Service Utilization was used to identify the variables included in the survey. Bivariate and multivariate logistic regression models were used to determine factors significantly associated with the utilization of SRH services. Adjusted odds ratio (AOR) and 95% confidence interval (CI) with a p-value <0.05 were considered to denote statistical significance. Results A total of 617 youths aged 18-24 years participated in the survey. Only 20.4% (n = 126) of youths had visited SRH services in their entire life, and only 8.4% (n = 52) of youths had visited SRH services in the past year. Predisposing factors such as age, marital status, exposure to SRH information from family and governmental agencies such as the NPFDB, enabling factors such as availability and comfort of SRH services, and need factors such as youths diagnosed with SRH-related diseases were significantly associated with SRH utilization. The older age group (20-24 years old) was more likely to utilize SRH services compared to the 18-19-year age group (AOR = 1.634, 95% CI = 1.041, 2.564, p = 0.033). Married participants were three times more likely to utilize SRH services than single participants (AOR = 2.910, 95% CI = 1.356, 6.249, p = 0.006). Participants who vaped had more odds of utilizing SRH services (AOR = 1.793, 95% CI = 1.014, 3.174, p = 0.045) The group of participants exposed to information on SRH from family had more odds of utilizing SRH service than those who did not receive information on SRH from the family (AOR = 1.964, 95% CI = 1.229, 3.138, p = 0.005). Likewise, participants who received SRH information from governmental agencies were more likely to utilize SRH services (AOR = 1.929, 95% CI = 1.202, 3.095, p = 0.006). Enabling factors that were associated with SRH utilization were the availability of services, described as self-buying medicine in pharmacies (AOR = 1.830, 95% CI = 1.184, 2.855, p = 0.007), and the comfortability of services (AOR = 1.928, 95% CI = 1.250, 2.974, p = 0.003). Youths who were diagnosed with SRH diseases (need factor) were four times more likely to utilize SRH services (AOR = 4.490, 95% CI = 1.935, 10.410, p < 0.001). Conclusions There is generally poor SRH service utilization and awareness among youths in Malaysia, which could be improved. The findings of this study can be used to influence SRH providers to offer a more age-targeted awareness program to meet the various SRH needs of youths.
